What happens to points that you have 'pending' which would post on your next statement? Since we just traveled to TX recently, I have a lot of travel expenses that I want to make sure I get the 3x coding for. Will I lose that if I move the points to my CSP?

I think @cindilouwho76 had a problem with UR points crediting properly when she PCed after a purchase but before the points posted.

I don't think I have any that haven't posted (I use the wrong word by using pending) but the points I am wondering about are purchases that have coded as travel or dining but they will not be available for use until my next statement.

I would wait a cycle with no use. I pc'd csp to Freedom right after I made a purchase at walmart for the 10x points bonus. Only got 1x points even though both cards qualify. 3 SMs & a phone call & still not sure if I'll get the points

Quick question...My cousin is looking for a cc. A little background is that she declared bankruptcy about 10 years ago due to medical bills. But she has recovered medically and now trying to financially.

Anywho she is looking for a cc. She has a few store cards and she does pay her balance. But she is not really looking for a travel reward card (ikr). I told her something like Discover at least to get some cashback and since they have a card for specifically building credit. But what would you suggest...TIA

Don't know if this is something she'd be interested in, but Alliant Credit Union has a Visa Signature card that is offering 3% cashback the first year (then 2.5%), with a $59 annual fee that's waived the first year. DoC has the details: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/alliant-2-5-card-now-available-alliant-members/

Thanks. Any PC options besides the two Freedoms?

I believe u can PC to any card Chase owns solely(no partnered cards i.e. Marriott, Hyatt, United etc) but the freedom card is the best one to pc to for churning purposes. cards to pc like Slate, Sapphire, etc.

Was just playing around with our hotel for Venice in October 2018. I had booked us for 2 nights at the Gritti Palace for a whopping 70k SPG points (~210k Marriott points). Gritti Palace looks amazing and is right on the canal, but I have been struggling with the points cost. Our entire 5 nights stay at Sheraton Park Disneyland cost us just 40k SPG points. When I booked Gritti Palace, the Four Points by Sheraton Venice Mestre, which is a 15 minute taxi ride to the Venice city center, wasn't available to book. Well, now it is and it is just 4k points for weeknights and 3k points for weekends. I talked with DH and he said that we should book the Four Points and save the other points for another trip, since it would cover a lot. Not as glamorous, but our goal is mainly to travel more rather than the fanciest.

Posted this last night, but anyone know if Barclay has a rule about how much time between apps?

6 months and don't go for a 3rd card until you've closed one of their cards.
  • Day 1 – Apply for 1st Barclay’s card
  • Day 182ish – Apply for 2nd Barclay’s card
  • Day 365ish – Close 1st card when annual fee comes do.
  • Day 366-380 Apply for 3rd Barclay’s card
  • Day 545ish Close 2nd Barclay’s card when annual fee comes do.
  • Day 550-560 Apply for 4th Barclay’s card.

I've heard that it's good to wait six months between Barclay apps. When the Barclay JetBlue Plus sign-up bonus went from 30,000 miles to 40,000, I impulsively applied because JetBlue is our go to airline for trips to Disneyland. When it went to "pending review" I did some checking and found these strategies from 2015 (so I'm not sure if they still apply):
  1. Never go for a third card. If you have two cards, close one down before applying for another.
  2. Use your existing Barclay card(s) regularly. They like to make sure you've actually been using their cards before extending more credit.
  3. Wait six months between applications.
  4. Getting a second of the same product can be dicey.
  5. Do not call recon unless denied. If you get denied, call recon, but don't expect much help.
I was instantly approved for the Barclay Arrival Plus on March 3 and applied for the JetBlue Plus card on August 13, so I was three weeks shy of six months. It eventually got approved on August 21, but if I'd known, I would have waited the three weeks just to possibly increase my chances of an instant approval.

ETA: @calypso726 beat me to it. :)

Okay, so even though the weak rewards of the Disney Premier visa never really appealed to me I actually just applied and was approved...I was mainly interested in financing since I plan to spend wayy too much money at Disney in the next 18 months or so.

I have three questions though:
Has any one had a problem product changing down to the basic free card? I only did the premier for the increased sign up bonus
Does the financing work for room charges?
Do they ever run promo's for 0 percent APR longer than 6 months?

thanks

Actually I meant app in general. Just applied for Hyatt 4 days ago. Want to go for aviator. But this is good to know for Arrival + which is also on my want list

Yes, I had the Premier Visa for a few years then was able PC to the no fee card. A month later I applied for the Premier card to get the bonus again. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your other questions.

I wouldn't product change! You could sign up for the basic card & bag the $200 bonus there as well, with no fee!

I'm looking at trying to get the companion pass for 18-19, so I'm hoping SW keeps their current offer going until late Sept/early October.

But does anyone know the answer to this:
I currently have the SW Plus CC. Do you think I'll have trouble getting the Premier and Business card in order to try to get the companion pass? I'm going to wait it out until October to see if they'll still be offering this deal.

My husband just closed his SW CC today, so if all else fails he could go for the two cards instead of me.

I don't know the other variables in your credit equation, but in general, the fact that you have the Plus would not be an issue in obtaining the Premier and the Business cards. I've held all three at one time in the past.

I don't have this card, but I am pretty sure that I read that the financing only works on vacation packages (room + tickets), not a la carte for things such as room only charges or separate tickets, etc.

Well damn I should have gotten the basic card with the similar sign up bonus... :-/

Thanks yeah I saw that too but I was just wondering if the room charges would be rolled into the package charge upon check out...just wondering not that big of a deal.

I will have to report back but I took advantage of the Chase Pay 10x Walmart Program on Five cards between myself and DS purchasing $250 giftcards on each eligible credit card. We will see how it works out, I purchased one set of the gift cards this past Monday, everything worked will with the 10x points when it posted, so completed the four other cards this morning. Fingers crossed, everything goes well!

This deal couldn't have came at a better time for us because we have to renew our annual passes next month.

Just wanted to update this post- everything worked well, got 10x on each of our five eligible cards for the Chase Pay program. Between that and the Best Buy Cashstar deal, figuring in savings on buying Disney gift cards at Sams with the Walmart Gift cards and value of points received on the Chase cards- we spent $1586.82 and now have $1809.50 in value to purchase our Disney Gift Cards. So a little over $200 in free money for money we were going to spend anyways as our annual passes were going to be $1550.
