I love credit cards so much!

Can someone point me in the right direction before I continue with my plans.

Disney European Cruise in May 2019, finger crossed they keep May sailings in Europe. Plan is to fly United, we would need at least 240,000 miles to fly economy round trip. Would like to fly economy there and business return, we would need 400,000.
DH has 115,000 UR.
I have 70,000 United miles.
Plan is to continue getting UR bonus and also the MPE for DH.

Would DH & I be able to combine United miles? If not we would just need to book separate flights.

I used to be quite a frequent traveler on United, but it's been a few years since I've done any award travel so I can't help with the nuances of all the recent changes. I will note that you can only combine miles belonging to the same person, and there is a hefty fee for transferring miles to another MP member -- something like 1.5 cents per mile and a flat $30? or $35? fee. The redemption value of the miles never made sense to pay such a fee. (Especially when you can book award travel for someone else.)

I got my CSR last Sept or Oct and PC to the FU a couple of weeks ago. I even got a $75 credit (I'm guessing for a partial AF rebate). Best card I never kept ever...2 $300 travel credits, $100 GE credit and $75 rebate plus 100,000 UR. No wonder Chase is cracking down!

What happens to points that you have 'pending' which would post on your next statement? Since we just traveled to TX recently, I have a lot of travel expenses that I want to make sure I get the 3x coding for. Will I lose that if I move the points to my CSP?

You made out great on the CSR!

Did you click all the way through to see final total? When I did that, it showed $127/night with a "free" rental car and half-board, but when you clicked through, there were $127 in Orbitz taxes. I guess I was hoping the DP would truly be "free"-- haha.

I can bring up Pop for $150 a night with half-board also (early Sept dates) BUT once I click through, the system adds $260'ish in taxes and fees PER night! AoA is the only resort I have seen that doesn't seem to be doing that. However, AoA is no longer showing for our dates so I cannot tell if it is still the great deal it once was.

And for our dates, Pop is currently $67 night (no half board and before taxes). That rate and paying OOP for meals is a MUCH better deal.

That's good to know. Thanks. Could I transfer UR points from DH's account to my United account?

Sorry, I didn't have any pending--I did a big merge and purge (to Marriott) right before I product changed.

Wow, that's a great rate! We are going in November around the holiday and it is much more (as expected) expensive. Guess that's what I get for working around custody and school schedules

Quick question...My cousin is looking for a cc. A little background is that she declared bankruptcy about 10 years ago due to medical bills. But she has recovered medically and now trying to financially.

Anywho she is looking for a cc. She has a few store cards and she does pay her balance. But she is not really looking for a travel reward card (ikr). I told her something like Discover at least to get some cashback and since they have a card for specifically building credit. But what would you suggest...TIA

You can only transfer UR points to your United account or an authorized user's account. Alternatively, if you have a UR earning card, DH could transfer his UR points to your UR account, then you can transfer the UR points to your United account.

After reading about all the changes I just moved all my points from my Freedom/FU to my CSP. Bummer that I can't get the CSR now :(. I guess the Marriott card will be next - my stay in Boston will be at a Marriott. I will be booking my trip today for the Boston Marathon next April using my 60,000 bonus SW points - my husband is starting to realize the benefits of me being crazy about the credit cards ;). I only started this hobby last year and got us 7 free plane tickets for our trips next year.

Now I need to see if I can get that Chase Pay bonus today with gift cards that I can use at Sams.

Yep! And no. You applied prior to the end of May (right?) so your travel credit cycles at the close of your Dec stmt each year.

Caveat: Keeping it until Dec really depends on when you applied, I screwed up assuming you applied after Dec (I'm tired- sorry). If you already double dipped PC ASAP and you might get a pro-rated refund of the AF...

I thought that you could not PC a card until the one year anniversary of opening it? Is that not true? If not, once I get my bonus points, and move them to my CSR, the CSP is being PCed ASAP, and my wife's CSR will PCed as soon as her second travel credit is due.

heh, i posted about that on reddit and flyertalk and most people commenting says it shouldnt happen the way the Sapphire policy did. since the policy affect new applicants. Most people believe there will be a grace period since a policy like that(where freedom points cant transfer) affects their current base of customers.

(applies to chase only) the idea is that you cannot go from a AF card to a non AF card of another brand. Therefore, u can drop it to the non AF version(the Sapphire) then to a freedom card.

DH and I are both Authorized users on each other's UR cards. We have a CSP & CF.
Again, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Not directly related to your post, but I liked this thought as it really resonated with me after last week.

So an Instagram-famous exhibit called the Museum of Ice Cream is coming to San Francisco next month. Tickets sold out in a flash during its runs in NYC and LA, and the same was expected for SF. I had never heard of it! My wife suggested we go and sent me an article about it the day before Amex Platinum presales opened for cardholders. She asked, don't we have a Platinum card? Yes we do!

I got on the phone with the Platinum concierge, who couldn't get tickets for me because the event wouldn't allow sales to third-parties, but gave me all the information I needed. Tickets went on sale promptly at 9 a.m. and I had prime weekend tickets purchased and in my email by 9:05 a.m. My wife was ecstatic! I think my little girl will really enjoy the experience too.

I think this is probably the first time my wife saw any value in having the Platinum card. Never mind that she uses the Centurion Lounge every time she has to travel for work. I was able to get tickets a day before all other Amex cardholders, and two days before the general public. I saw in the news that when tickets finally opened to the public, there was a virtual queue of over 50,000 people trying to get tickets and they sold out in 30 minutes. My wife got to casually drop the fact that she already had her tickets to all her friends and coworkers for two days, and I was the hero who made it happen. Felt really good!

But this is true only for the first year? I thought I had read that the CSP could be directly PCed to a Freedom - is that after the first year? Or just a totally YMMV thing? Thanks to the Fairmont being turned into a CSP, and the CSP I applied for directly, I now have two CSPs I need to PC to something. Is Freedom my only choice? I don't want to cancel because I want to keep the CL - although I guess I could transfer the CLs to the CSR.

that only applies for the first year. If you want go to from CSP--> Freedom line before your AF is due. After that, PC whenever u like.
