I love credit cards so much!

I'm almost afraid to do that, if I don't get approved then, I will be stuck with super low limits on my Chase cards. There might be something I can close from other banks I guess.
Do you think just Chase lines or could I lower something else? I was going to close my Cap One at some point before AF hits and that limit I see is 30K. And if I did and was still denied, would my score take a hit?
Wonder if the in flight offer will still be working then.

Amazing how something so dumb as a credit card denial can mess up my day. But, then again, the job thing has me pretty much in permanent gloom and doom right now anyway LOL. Feel free to ignore me.

Sending :grouphug: things turn around this week

No. If you need a bit of support stay tuned in.

If your private banker can’t help...I know my bosses couldn’t help her either...Are there Amex business cards you could put the 8k on

he said at the point I'm now 8/24 he can't slide me in either, LOL. I said well sometimes I've heard y'all got magic. He thinks it's stupid they have the 5/24 rule. He's like I'm with you, I can't get any more chase cards and I work here, LOL.

I'm looking at the Amex that has the 0% transfer fee and 0% balance for I think 18 months. That'll be my next application.

BeBePeh! 15 months though.

note: BBP.

just wait for the day ur cozy up in bed and u forgot to turn something off... XD I have all my devices on smart bulb/smart plug. i got a google home and amazon echo. even got one in the bathroom. they make me lazy :P

Now you are making me want to program my google mini that I've ignored for a year!

But that said, nobody turns of lights around here. Basement - 3 bulbs burning. Kitchen - I have 2 ceiling fans with 4 light fixtures (high ceiling) and they are on dimmer switches - rarely get actually turned off. Always leave a light on in greater living area so I don't trip over a cat or toy.

Has anyone purchased a gift card on one of the Chase offers other than reloading a Starbucks gift card? I have the 30% off Petsmart offer and am thinking I'll just buy a gift card there instead of ordering online (because of aforementioned $100 Chewy order!). It doesn't say it excludes gift cards, so I'm thinking it'll work.

i did OfficeMax, bought $100 worth of Amazon GCs. got my $10 back already.
im not sure why ur Chewy order didnt get the $15 off, i recently did a Chewy order and got the $15 back instantly.

so far, the Walgreens on does say "exclude gift cards." i didnt read that and made a $50 amazon GC purchase, will see if it still codes(like RMN) *fingers crossed*
also did lowes, will report back!

I purchased a $100 disney GC at Lowe’s last week with the Chase offer...received an email this morning that my $10 credit would be coming soon...if it actually posts I’ll let you know

I have this one also! Please let us know if it works.

I didn't have a Chewy offer at all, sadly, so I was just making my standard order for my dog. I saw the Walgreens offer on DoC for Uber gift cards this morning, but it's not showing up in my store's weekly ad. I might run in and check though. Would be good to pick up some Uber GCs for NYC.

I used her own income for both apps. I’m not sure you can use household income for an 18yo. I feel like I read that you can’t ...

ETA: just googled it and yes, at 18yo, must have their own income for the app.

Thanks! She’s perfectly hapoy with being an AU so maybe next year when she has flown the nest I’ll revisit it.:)

I miss the days when RD was truly an advantage. It's been touted and pushed so much on the boards, and I am guessing all over social media, that many are getting there early now. It feels so much more crowded than it used to. However, I don't see us ever not being RD people. It isn't so much to beat the crowds as that we just do not like to think that fun is going on and we are missing out lol!

I hear you. I wish I could time travel and visit the WDW of 20 years ago when the park was empty at rope drop and we had truly magical trips.

Yeah, I meant which are you adding them as AU, sorry. LOL

We gave DD an AU Plat card when she was in HS, then added the Disney Visa AU since not everyone takes AMEX (and it was cute so she wanted that one). She's very responsible about spending money so it didn't worry us to hand them to her. And the AMEX Plat was "free" since I already was an AU on it so there was no additional charge for her.

Did you use household income for your DD or her own income? I'm considering whether to try to get DD her own card (likely Discover) before she leaves us next summer or wait until she's out of the house--didn't know if there were pros v. cons to either approach. Pretty sure she's happy just being an AU since I foot the bills :crazy2:

DD opened up one at 18 at our credit union. Had to use her own income, which was very minimal, but she did have a steady summer job at that point. She has a few very part time jobs right now but doesn't earn much since she is a full time student, so I'm not sure she could get the CFU that was being discussed last week.

Just talked to recon, I was denied for too much available credit, too many active accounts on my credit report?? They can't see the AMEX Biz accounts right?

They are making me nuts LOL. I know I am not 5/24, because they wouldn't have given me the BIZ. I have counted 10 open cards. 3 are Chase, 3 are store cards that have been opened forever and ever, one Cap one, and then AMEX personal. Uf. I have to call personal lending, recon is done with me.

Chase will not budge. Too much credit available to me, makes me too high of a risk. Nothing will change their mind, period. Apparently they do look at other banks credit limits also, not just their own.
Kinda wishing I didn't bother with the SW Biz at this point, guess I should have gone ahead and put all my spend in the last month on there, since the posting date will not longer matter.
I am guessing lot's of you have at least as many cards open as I have and still got instant approval?

I'm almost afraid to do that, if I don't get approved then, I will be stuck with super low limits on my Chase cards. There might be something I can close from other banks I guess.

This is why I went through and cleaned up our credit reports awhile back. Here's some selected comments from when I did that:

:)

I kicked BofA to the curb today. They previously denied me for the Merrill Lynch card (I actually was "approved in error" and they rescinded their approval 10 days later...grrr). They also denied my recently for their new Premium Travel card. Both times they cited that I had a sufficient relationship with the bank already and wouldn't budge. Sooo now I have no relationship with their bank, LOL! I closed my checking and all 5 open cards my wife and I had.

I have been a little upset for awhile about it but I finally decided to pull the plug today because I also want to clean up our credit reports a little bit. Less open accounts, less high credit limits, and hopefully less risk of a Chase shutdown.

- My report only shows 23 open card accounts right now. I'm slowly pulling that number back though with closures :) It also shows 26 closed CC accounts LOL!
- My wife's report should soon be down to showing 8 open card accounts (with 20 closed).

I'm really trying to clean up the reports and keep overall credit limits down. Gotta avoid the Chase Shutdown eyes :)

Guys...I am not a rampage of purging these credit reports, LOL! In the past 2 weeks I've closed 11 Bank Accounts, closed 9 Credit Cards and cancelled liability on 7 AU cards...It feels good to clean things up on this spreadsheet :)

Just got our updated reports on Experian for the month... My wife's report looks SOOO clean :) :) As some of you may recall, I went on a clean-up effort in recent months (partially to avoid shutdown and partially because things were just out of control). I removed numerous AUs from older Chase Cards (from before 5/24 was a concern), cancelled unnecessary cards, and reduced CLs.

Her report now shows ONLY 8 CCs (1 AU on my ancient Discover Card and the other 7 are her open/active accounts). And her combined credit limits (across all issuers) are finally under 1x our annual household income. My report doesn't look as clean yet but I'll get it there :D

Add to that we are now down to just 7 active bank accounts (vs. 23 a couple months ago) and things are a little easier to manage now, haha!

@SouthFayetteFan strategy update...for those who care (if you don't then...:P :P)

I am fast approaching my time to double dip. My wife is now 0/24 and has only 4 inquiries. Her Credit Report looks about as good as it could for somebody who actually got 5 cards in the past year, LOL! (And has 22 cards in her churning career). I've removed AUs, closed unneeded accounts, and trimmed Credit Limit also to clean everything up.

Her most recent inquiry is 4/5/18 from her CIP and although the account won't appear on her personal credit report, it was approved on 4/11/18. Soooo I think I'm going to wait until August 13th so it has been 4 months since that CIP was approved and then go for the CSR/CSP double dip. My brother-in-law can refer me to CSP but I am going to have a SUPER hard time choosing somebody's CSR link here...So many awesome contributors here...

Then I'm thinking that the $8k MSR will carry me until the end of the year with organic spend (may pickup some VGCs in November to carry us over through Dec.). I don't need the URs for our Disney Trip in Jan - just need the CSR to redeem the URs though. So these URs can start building towards something else...

I cleaned up a lot of old cards a few months ago. Felt good to pull back.

After the cleanup my wife ended up with 6 Chase cards (5 personal & 1 Business); 5 AMEX cards (only 2 personal); and an AU on my very old Discover.

I ended up with 7 Chase cards (7 personal); 4 AMEX cards (only 1 personal); 1 Citi Card (personal); and 1 Discover...

It felt REALLY good to get things cleaned up. So funny that a churner thinks having 12 or 13 open accounts is CLEAN...LOL!!
Part of the reason I did this was because Chase seemed to be paying attention to both their bank's CLs and your combined CLs across all issuers when making decisions. Despite cutting what was probably $200k+ in Credit Limit from EACH of our reports, our credit scores didn't change at all. Unless there is a reason you need a large CL I wouldn't sweat cutting them down. I probably went from 20+ accounts and $300k in CL down to a handful of accounts and $80k in combined CL.

Your answer could be as simple as reduce, clean up and reapply in 30 days potentially. (no guarantees of course)

I'd also wait to see what the official letter says. The exact wording on the letter could be impactful as well in terms of specifically targeting a fix to what Chase sees as "wrong".

I only put $3000 for my dd18’s CFU app. She makes more than that just at her PT job and she babysits a lot still. She was approved with a $600 CL.

What one do you prefer? I’m team google but everyone I know disagrees with me lol

Alexa actually, its more responsive than google... google does give better search results though.
theres time where im screaming at google at the top of my lungs to get it to respond to me... :\
Alexa seems to respond better when i asked it to turn something off. I do have to remind myself to stop saying My bedroom light, i have to say Bedroom light.
If your attaching a speaker to it, u would need to go amazon echo since google makes u buy a chromecast...

probably not the answer u want... :P

I'm seeing the Albertsons, Safeway et al. MasterCard Gift Card deal again. Expires 12/15/18.
