Thanks, I'll cross post it to r/churning. :)

Ok that's almost unfair with the multiple handles now  On the plus side you were about to get an up vote for your handle along with the insightful comment, when I realized who it was... so you hit 3 of my upvote criteria :thumbsup2 (so I found a couple other comments and threw up votes there too!)

I see you've been active on r/churning today too, and threw you some upvotes. :thumbsup2

Should we be glad Chase still hasn't followed Amex's one bonus per product per lifetime rule?

Off the cuff, I think so. But for hardcore folks I think 48 months may feel like a lifetime. And planning to be 5/24 in the right moment might mean realistically it is a lifetime-ish bonus for some.

I also wonder if the AmEx "lifetime" 7 year rule is a happenstance from some IT change. But I freely admit to not doing the digging I planned to on it. A couple comments almost made it seem like a recent-ish phenomenon so that started me thinking maybe 'lifetime' really is lifetime now, as of whenever that change was, and folks that had cards before that change it was like it just didn't count. (if that makes sense)

So if 20-30 years from now and they're still in business will I still not be able to get my levitating toaster oven/3d hologram projector combo sign up bonus cuz I got some now defunct MR points back in the day?

Thanks! Still a little scary place but I poke my head out now and again. With the flat and seemingly attainable karma requirements across the board now I might risk some more time there.

Potential BAD news on CSR and CSP - 48 MONTH RULE!

The wording on the Chase public application link for CSP and CSR has changed to:
  • 50,000 Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
  • The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.
It's worth noting that I DO NOT see this language on the existing referral links...so...this is definitely one to keep an eye on folks.

What about the wording saying you're not eligible if you've received a bonus in the sapphire family within the last 48 months? Could that mean that you can double-dip the cards but only get the bonus points on whichever card you meet the MSR on first? I sure hope not!

Props to @SouthFayetteFan for sparking some fresh discussion about the Amex welcome bonus denial pop-ups over at r/churning: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9a60t4/daily_discussion_thread_august_25_2018/e4t53lm
Wanted to share a DP regarding the new AMEX pop-ups. I referred DH to a couple cards today. For the Everyday card he got the # of cards/activity history popup. Right after he got that denial, we opened a new incognito window and he was approved for the Green card. So, I'm wondering if AMEX is scrutinizing the credit cards more than the charge cards?

His history with AMEX:
3/20/17 SPG personal-closed
12/12/17 PRG - only spend was to meet MSR and some small AMEX offers
12/31/17 Hilton no AF - only spend was to meet MSR
4/17/18 Ameriprise Gold - made a few recent spends of a couple hundred $$ each
7/2/18 Gold BIZ - currently working on MSR
7/2/18 Green BIZ - made the one small purchase for the bonus

All the rest of the wording is the same as it’s always been. Only the 48 changed (used to say 24).

I don’t expect anything has changed with double dipping.

This is a bummer. But what I also worry about is while it says you can call to see if you are eligible to PC, what if that changes. So if I do PC to a CSP and then in late 2019 or early 2020 want to PC back to a CSR but they deem be ineligible. I'd have to wait until Feb 2022 to get the bonus again because who wants to get a card without a bonus. This gives me more to think about what to do.

Oops, now I feel silly. I thought I had to enter his pin or the Hilton biz security code to either email or text a passcode... but that was actually the third option...

Due to the new Chase rule, I want to be sure that my projected strategy will still work. Where is the preferred place to verify CC history and credit score (for my DH - I use BOA Privacy Assist for mine, unless there is something better?)? I'm pretty confident that we'll be good to go, but I hate not knowing!

I wonder how long it will be before the rest of the Chase cards switch to the 48 month rule?

That's the question. Chase always implements new restrictions on flagship cards first (most recently, the one Sapphire becoming one Southwest as well). It's coming.

I want Hyatt and IHG but I'm lol/24 and probably a pretty good shutdown risk. But if 48 months is eventually coming to everything I'm going to be locked out of Chase forever, so... YOLO? Gonna have to sleep on that one.

I've always felt staying under 5/24 was a gloomy plan at best, but it's great for those who have been able to maximize it. Not anymore though!

I recommend the Citi TY Premier and the Barclays Arrival+.

I like Credit Karma for checking card history. It’s free, pulls from TransUnion and Equifax, and lists all the cards you have open, including the date the account was opened, and closed. Find the cards opened within the past 2 years to get your x/24 count. Don’t pay too much attention to the credit score.

Good thing I still have DH’s Venture offer sitting at home. I was planning his CSR/CSP for Dec but looks like there is no reason to hold those spots anymore.

@SouthFayetteFan I can't update my reddit links for Chase because I can't generate new in the app or on the website. It only gives me the option for Hyatt and CFU, no CSR. And both say not available :confused3 :badpc:

I will work on updating the others though. Also, I was looking for a Lyft code the other day and didn't see any so I found one online that I thought would give me a better return than it did. But can we also add Lyft and Uber to Misc?

I'm guessing any day now is about early as some people could begin churning the CSR under the 24 month rule, since the CSR came out 8/21/16, figure a day or two for delivery, time to make a $5k MSR and for the bonus to post. Chase just moved the goal post.

Exactly what I was thinking. If I hadn't gotten the CSP in early 2017, I'd be able to churn the CSR in Oct/Nov.

WHOA on the Sapphire news. Honestly makes me feel a lot better about abandoning 5/24, even though I’m still currently under. I’ll double dip DH and then we’ll be moving on. DH will have 6 Chase cards and I’ll have 4 and that’s plenty for me before they start putting eyes on our account for shutdown...

This news is definitely making me reconsider trying to stay under 5/24. It may be time to bid Chase adieu :(
