DH and I usually go out to dinner the night before Valentines' Day to avoid overly crowded restaurants. Looks like next year we'll have another reason to stay home on Valentines' Day.

I wonder how many couples will complain about the overlap.

Huh.... sorry 😞 😞... you are mistaken.... that is statehood Day for Oregon.....and Arizona

Maybe a unpopular opinion but we don't care much about Valentines Day, however I think moving the Superbowl to a Saturday would be nice....but in any event I'm guessing the Superbowl is usually the second Sunday of the month? If that's the case then I can't imagine they'd move it for what *some* may consider a inconsequential holiday.

Again, I don't really have a dog in the fight. I'm not rushing out to a Superbowl party or to go out for dinner because it's the 14th of Feb. so moving either don't really matter a whole lot to me. I just feel like the Superbowl and all the promotion and years long work that probably goes into it isn't something they'd move on a whim because of Valentines Day. They play football on Thanksgiving and Christmas, so why not Valentines Day?

I'm guessing not a whole lot of couples will lose sleep over it because it isn't that big of a deal to football fans.

Why are they putting the 2027 Super Bowl on Valentine's Day next year? It is odd that the NFL would choose to do football on Valentine's Day. Because Valentine's Day is a day when husbands spend time with their wives by taking them out for a special romantic dinner or having to plan a special evening for the two of them and the last thing the wife needs is having to sit through a football game that the husband is dying to see. It used to be that the Super Bowl used to held at the end of January but I don't know when the Super Bowl became exclusive to February but airing it Valentine's Day 2027 will be the worst mistake in the NFL

Because that's how the schedule is. I can imagine that many restaurants will have specials on both Saturday and Sunday, it's not going to be a big deal.

Quite bold of you to assume that it's only the husbands that want to watch the game and the poor wives must suffer. I hate Valentines Day (so does my husband) and the Super Bowl is a huge deal in our household for both of us. Given the choice of which to celebrate, SB wins hands-down.

Nowadays there are even more females watching the NFL and sports in general… not exclusively due to their husband’s fandom.

No worries. The way the NFL keeps adding games and stretching the season, the Super Bowl will soon be played on St Patrick's Day. And pre-season will start April Fools Day.
I wouldn't put it past them, given that ice hockey now sometimes goes past the summer solstice...
