DISchurners SURVEY Reminder!

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XY776K3 - give it a click :) This survey is for anybody here and will take 5 minutes or less!

I'll leave the survey open for a week or so and then post results for all to see.

FYI: If you are in 2 player mode - answer the questions combined between both players.
AND make sure you answer all 8 questions (there are 2 pages to the survey) :)

**********************
Here are some early comments on the results thus far:

  • 54 people have responded :)
  • 53 are DISchurners members and 1 intends to join
  • 30 people have shared support links and 56% of those people have received at least 1 click!
  • Approximately 100 support links have been used
  • About 50% of us have joined the game in the past 2 years
  • We've signed up for over 540 cards (averaging > 10 per person) over the past 2 years!
Keep those responses coming and I'll give a lot more insight in a week or so.

Also - PLEASE don't feel bad if you haven't received a support click yet. We all have to start somewhere - and it DOES NOT mean that you aren't appreciated around here. The primary benefit of this group is the great advice we give each other and 99% of folks in this game earn FAR more points from signing up themselves than they do from support clicks. We aren't The Points Guy after all :)

Done. I would like to note that I've been at 4/24 since this time last year, when I double dipped the SW cards and less than 2 months later I applied for the United card. I've managed to get 5 business cards keeping me at 4/24.

Yes, 20 percent seems to be the magic number, also connected to having to pay PMI (private mortgage insurance).
I’m not sure that always applies. Our current mortgage is from a refi 3 years ago. Our down payment was 40% and to get the lowest rate, we had to escrow. Then Chase bought our mortgage and they say we’re eligible to remove escrow. :confused3

I put down what it says on my taxes. " 'My Name''s Hairstyling" and my home address

Ah, there's your issue.

When applying as a sole proprietor, you should always apply with only your First Name and Last Name (a Middle Initial is fine too), and home address as business address. (Unless you have a DBA, etc.)

Then, if Chase asks for verification, you could have sent just a driver's license or utility bill.

Right now, Chase is looking for some kind of documentation with the business name " 'My Name''s Hairstyling" and your home address on it.

If you don't have a DBA or EIN, and that's not how you report your taxes, you may be out of luck.

You could try calling the Chase reconsideration line at 1-888-270-2127, to speak to a rep, explain the situation and hope they'll change the business name on your application to just your First and Last Name. Since you have a legitimate business, I wouldn't worry. It's simply a misunderstanding in filling out your application. If you don't want to call or they won't budge, you have the option to close your application (but Chase will have already made a hard inquiry of your credit report). You can then apply again 31 days after your previous CIP application.

Then you are going to need to provide some documentation to substantiate the existence of the business. If you'd have just put your name there it may have gone through with no issues.

hmmm ok thanks! The only thing that I have is my schedule C. I hate calling (anyone!) but I guess I'll have to call and see what they say.

Thank you!

Anyone who was instantly approved for Barclay AA Biz recently, did you get an email after approval? Any indication you were approved? DH was approved last night and I’ve got a screenshot but nothing else...

I got an email after my approval. That seems to be the only way I can remember the right address to log in...

Wowww.... :teacher:where are located again? I may have to check and see in my company has a site around your area!
Nashville area. It seems everyone is moving here...like 100 people per day they say. Lots of companies coming to the area.

If the schedule C lists the business name you should be ok.

I just pulled these two increased offers on the PRG and Platinum using Chrome browser on incognito mode and Private Internet Access VPN set to the US Seattle servers. I tried it again on the same VPN and network settings using Safari private mode and got the same offers.

It took me less than 5 minutes trying different combinations of private/incognito modes on Chrome, Safari, and Opera browsers, and connecting my VPN to different big city servers around the US (I tried, California, Silicon Valley, Chicago, New York, then finally Seattle worked). In the incognito window, I'd type in americanexpress .com, click on the Personal Cards graphic, see the 50k special offer for the PRG (which is good, but not what you want), click Rewards Points Cards in the nav bar, and find the 75k special offer on the personal Platinum.

Now, to your question, if you're at 40k of your 55k referral cap, you'd get only 15k for referring DH. However, one upside is those 15k would go into your MR account, and the public 60k bonus (and whatever points earned for MSR) would go into DH's MR account. The net is ~75k, but split between your and DH's MR accounts. If DH were to apply for the 75k Platinum incognito offer, the 75k (and whatever points earned for MSR) would go into only his MR account. You can't transfer or pool MRs between spouses like you can with Chase URs in the same household. However, if one of you is an AU on the other's MR cards, you could transfer MRs to the AU spouse's frequent flyer program. Both referral and incognito methods would net your household the same amount of points, but it just depends where you want those points for ease of redemption.

Thanks so much! I will try what you did and keep at it. The reason I think I'm indifferent to where the MRs go in this case (my account or DH's account) is that Emirates allows family pooling of points, so DH and I can both transfer our separate MRs into Emirates and have them pooled together there. Of course, that assumes we will actually be able to upgrade on Emirates and use the MRs there. If not, I do prefer to have as many of the total "family" MRs in my account as possible. So unless I can pull the 100K offer on the Plat, then I'll probably go the referral route on the 60K offer. I'm also considering 50K offers with less spend and lower or waived AF like that PRG offer you pulled. I think I can probably make up the 16K difference in the points I'd need through putting organic spend on my Plat cards that would otherwise go to Chase cards. I'll noodle on it and see what I can pull up....

Potential BAD news on CSR and CSP - 48 MONTH RULE!

The wording on the Chase public application link for CSP and CSR has changed to:
  • 50,000 Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
  • The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.
It's worth noting that I DO NOT see this language on the existing referral links...so...this is definitely one to keep an eye on folks.
