I love credit cards so much!

So, I put my mortgage on my Marriott biz card and that put me over the 3k MSR. It was cancelled by plastiq but they had already charged my card and they said it was would be 3-4 days for the refund. Will that trigger my Marriott points to post? I'll still meet the MSR cause I'd be too afraid to not do so but I'm just wondering what happens when you meet the MSR but then don't meet it anymore. IIRC @Lain had something like this with iphones and returning and points still credited??

Just relatedly, I very quickly met my Marriott Premier Plus MSR by putting exactly $3000 on the card 8/16, statement closed 8/24, 6k Marriott points posted [to my Marriott account] today, but still no sign of the 75k points signup bonus. I've been reading that Chase has been slow posting signup bonuses (seemingly across all card families) for the last few weeks, so I'm hoping it's just delayed.

Edit: I meant August, not April. It’s been a weird day.

@wendow, another difference between Amex and Chase re posting bonuses is Amex typically posts the welcome bonus to your (established) MR or co-brand loyalty account like within 5 days of hitting MSR, no need to wait for the statement to close ; Chase posts bonuses after the statement closes, and only if you met MSR far enough in advance of the statement closing for the bonus points to go pending first.

I’m at 24 nights with Marriott but had my 25th night on Sat. Anyone know how long it has been taking lately for the nights to credit. Tomorrow we check-in at the Courtyard through Thurs. If the night shows up before our departure to change my status to Gold, do you think the hotel will honor the late check-out?

I still haven't gotten my MR's number from Chase (sent a SM but it's been crickets) so I can't check if the points have posted yet but plastiq charged me 8/23 and currently the charge is still there.

I wouldn’t count on the Plastiq charge counting. I’m sorry.

I like Credit Karma for checking card history. It’s free, pulls from TransUnion and Equifax, and lists all the cards you have open, including the date the account was opened, and closed. Find the cards opened within the past 2 years to get your x/24 count. Don’t pay too much attention to the credit score.

Awesome, thank you @Lain :D

Wanted to share a DP regarding the new AMEX pop-ups. I referred DH to a couple cards today. For the Everyday card he got the # of cards/activity history popup. Right after he got that denial, we opened a new incognito window and he was approved for the Green card. So, I'm wondering if AMEX is scrutinizing the credit cards more than the charge cards?

His history with AMEX:
3/20/17 SPG personal-closed
12/12/17 PRG - only spend was to meet MSR and some small AMEX offers
12/31/17 Hilton no AF - only spend was to meet MSR
4/17/18 Ameriprise Gold - made a few recent spends of a couple hundred $$ each
7/2/18 Gold BIZ - currently working on MSR
7/2/18 Green BIZ - made the one small purchase for the bonus

I've wondered about that, came really close to trying for the BGR but then chickened out because I really don't want a $5k MSR right now. So tempting to try though... It's a terrible feeling to not have an MSR after having one for the last 9 months or so...

All the rest of the wording is the same as it’s always been. Only the 48 changed (used to say 24).

I don’t expect anything has changed with double dipping.

That's good! Although selfishly I know a lot can change between now and Feb when I plan on trying for it...

So, last year I remember a bunch of people going for the SW CP by doing most of their spend in December with the intention of finishing it in January to maximize the CP. A scattered few DPs came in of people getting their points in December, though. It turned out the had returns, but the credits weren't counted as an adjustment against MSR.

With Chase, my understanding is basically a dollar spent is a dollar spent. I think your points will post, but I don't want to tell you wrong and have you miss it. Do you still have at least 30 days left on your MSR period? If you do, I'd try waiting it out, just to see. It would be a good DP.

It took a solid 7 days for my nights to show up last week. That was in the midst of messages about "some stays are currently missing" during the merger though.

Lol, this cracks me up cause that is how my dh knows he has a new card...Congrats to your dh party:
My DH doesn’t check email, we share one account. Well, sorta. I mean, I have multiple other email accounts and I don’t think he’s even aware. He may never find out he was approved for Barclay AA Biz last night. I could activate it, charge one thing, then sock drawer. He never checks mail either.

Totally forgot about those going for SW CP who miscalculated spend and had their bonuses post too early! Good analogy.

On my CSR I had my PNC funding reversed, so it dropped me under the MSR. However, it still triggered the bonus to post on that statement.

In theory it should still work for your Marriott, but the points don't post until the statement closes so won't know until then.

Thanks for the response! I just received the card a couple of weeks ago so time to wait it out.

I'm still waiting for my 100,000 Marriott bonus too. The 10,005 points posted two days after my first statement closed.
