I love credit cards so much!

Up early and reading my email: Costco is offering a package for the Intercontinental over water bungalows on Moorea and Bora Bora - 8 nights with meals and flights starting at $4k per person. 3 nights on one island, 5 nights on the other in a junior suite.

And, also an African Safari for just $18,500 (approx...varies by date) per person including business class air.

I am almost tempted by the safari.

Update everyone- I was pretty bummed with my credit card debt then late yesterday I got a sale enough to pay off my entire WF card!!! I literally rushed in under 10 minutes to get the package to UPS before it closed. I’ll know tomorrow at the earliest if it goes through.

Wish me luck everyone!!

Informed Delivery tells me that I have a letter in the mail from Barclays today. I can't imagine it's possibly my credit card considering I just mailed them the backside of my social security card on Monday, so I wonder if it's a letter telling me they need that.

Most likely, as it happened to me as well. If you called Barclays shortly after you applied and they told you that, then yes, your response beat their letter requesting information. Barclays is slow to send out cards so it's almost certainly not your card.

Can't decide whether to try for the Marriott personal card or not! Anyone else debating it before the 100k goes away? My dh is 2/24 and I'm 6/24 so I'd have to apply for him. And he just got the CIC a couple of weeks ago so that may not be a smart thing to do. Prior to the CIC, he had not gotten a Chase card since his CIP back in 10/17. Hmm, what to do, what to do?!?
I've been debating this for a couple of weeks and now that the deadline is here, I've decided to hold off. I'm interested to see what the new SPG/Marriott offers look like in the coming months. Hopefully I don't end up regretting this decision to not apply for this one!

I received the letter requesting the identity verification documents a while back, but I didn't include a copy of the back of my social security card when I mailed them back since there's nothing identifying on the back. When I called Monday to check on the status of my application, they said they needed a copy of that. So I'm guessing that's probably what this letter says. Need to do DH's next, I should probably submit his app tonight.

The CIC is a great choice. If you are getting close to not meeting the spend you can buy giftcards at office supply stores to use in the future. Don’t be afraid to redeem for cash. The URs can be redeemed for cash. Not the “best value”, but the real best value is what works best for you. When I was newer at this I redeemed URs for cash to cover a hotel stay at Disney. the Disney site was cheaper than the UR portal. I didn’t know I could book through Disney and then transfer to Chase and use URs. While this was silly and I lost value it worked for me at the time. I still had a free stay at Disney, so that was a good value for me.

Gosh, I’m so far behind on this thread and not able to catch up soon. But I wanted to pop in and tell everyone that I started the transfer of my WDW vacation package from Disney to Chase today. I called Melissa at Chase and she emailed me a form. I filled it out and sent it back to her. She said it should be good. I am holding my breath (of course) cause I’m just a worrier LOL. But it was quick and easy so I hope it works. My 30 days is up on Sunday but Melissa said Disney will use the day they receive it (today, hopefully).

How exactly do you book with Disney then transfer to Chase? Do you just pay the deposit through Disney then call Chase with the confirmation numbers and tell them you want to transfer it to them and you pay the remaining balance with points? @speedyfishy I didn't know about transfers - I would just have done what you did with cashing out points and paying if Disney was less expensive than Chase.

You book the reservation through the Disney website and pay the $200 deposit. Then you call chase’s cruise and tour department and say you want to transfer. You have to do the transfer within 30 days and make sure you ask to speak to the cruise and tours department.

You can also call the cruise and tour department and they can book anything that is available through the Disney website if you don’t want to use cash for the deposit.

I recently transferred my Disneyland reservation that I originally booked through Disney only because I was worried the discounts would be gone before I had the chance to call Chase. I have also booked a package by calling and they went to the Disneyland website and I told them what I wanted. That was easier than transferring, but if you want a good discount that goes quickly like free dining id book through Disney and then transfer.

That's pretty much it. With Disney you can only transfer to a TA within 30 days of the booking. You can only pay with UR points on the first payment made with the Chase TA. So if you have all the points you want to use on the booking now, you can book directly with Chase and use all the points at the time of deposit. Then if you still owe money you would put the remainder on a Chase UR earning card whenever final payment is due. If you don't have all the UR points ready when you want to book, you can book with Disney to make the deposit and then transfer to Chase within that 30 day window. Since no payment should be due at the transfer, you can use your points later when it's time for final payment.

Just make sure you talk with the agent first and ask them how paying with UR points will work. If they say you have to make payment at the time of transfer HUCA for another agent if you are not prepared to do that. There's all different levels of knowledge regarding the process and you may get different answers. So far the infamous Melissa seems to be consistent with at least 1 totally completed trip successfully transferred and paid this way recently :)

Ugh I soooo want this card. I could get it for DH, but he got CIP 2/18 and CIC 5/18, and I'm going to double dip him in September. Doesn't seem like a wise choice :(

That doesn't seem worth the risk to me. If the Premier Plus ends up being at all like the old Marriott Premier, offers will come and go with some regularity. I've seen 75k, 80k, and 100k on that one.

Yeah, I'm just having card envy lol. Plus, CSR is more crucial to us as it will probably be the one high AF card we'll end up keeping long term.

Made my first booking through the UR portal! Wow, it really is flexible. I misunderstood how the prices were calculated and thought I had to pay taxes and fees in cash. Was happy to see that I could just throw all my URs at it. Had to pay $92 cash because I was short URs, but such a great deal. Now I am wishing I had a CSR instead of CSP, definitely think I am going to upgrade after my first year is up (since my annual fee was waived this year).

One question about the UR portal, why are there so many prices for what seem to be the same thing? It looked like I could have paid almost twice as much for the same room. Seemed strange. Plus one option said it came with tickets but mentioned nowhere about what the tickets were for (this was for Great Wolf Lodge Anaheim so possibly Disneyland but there were zero specifics)

On my Amex accounts this morning and noticed a good Amex Offer:

buybuy BABY
Spend $25 or more, get $5 back
Expires 9/3/2018

buybuy BABY sells gift cards, right?

ETA: Got this on my MB Plat, PRG, and DW's SPG Biz; negative on my SPG cards or our Hilton cards.

So I've never done this and I remember there was some question about when payment to Chase is due after transferring. Do you have to pay in points and/or cash at the time of transfer or when final payment is due?

My agent said it was due at the time of transfer. I had the points so I just paid it and didn’t bother to HUCA.

The way @miztressuz has described it is correct. @DaveL did it that way. It's something to do with the deposit already being paid with Disney so when you transfer it to Chase, they're now just following Disney's rules of final payment being made at 45 days out. I haven't done it personally, but I know @DaveL has with no problems. If you book directly with Chase, no matter whether it's Disney or other travel, all URs must be paid at the time of booking.

I'm planning to book a bounceback in November and am going to transfer that into Chase, but book the other reservations I need directly with Chase and just pay them with URs then since I'll have enough. Then I'll finish accruing the URs I need and pay off the transferred reservation.

I have some posts over on the Dis links site about all this, I mean come on you know that already right? :rotfl2: I added my tips from my trip, but what I did was booked a bounce back offer and then moved it to Chase. I just paid the $200 and waited until about 40 days out to make sure I had time to get it paid before the 30day cutoff and by then I had all the points needed. Just know what you expect the amount to be ahead of time, I don't think their system shows them all the info as she didn't account for my $200 deposit so once I reminded her she looked at another screen and saw that and made the adjustment in points.

@Lain One more big tip, when you book direct you own the reservation so you can make any changes ect you need without having to go through Chase. So I requested extra tags from DME and such before I did the transfer. I worked with Melissa and it was pretty simple, she sent me an email with a form to fill out, the standard Disney TA transfer request and emailed it back. Took about a week for Disney to process it. Around 40 days I emailed her asking her to call me to arrange final payment and that was it.
