I was thinking about applying for the AAdvantage executive card to get the lounge access, but sometimes I do not fly AA to the destination. Are you allowed to use an admirals club without flying an AA flight?
Not sure with AA specifically, but most airlines require a boarding pass for a flight on either their airline or one of their partners (in the case of AA, One World) for you to gain access to their lounge (I know this is how AC works). The only exception that I am aware of is if the lounge is part of the PP.

Per AA's t&cs WRT lounge access:
Includes customers in First or Business on a qualifying departing or arriving international, transcontinental or other domestic flight marketed and operated by American, a oneworld® airline or marketed by Aer Lingus and operated by American.

Trying to decide if I should keep both of my IHG cards. I've had the Premier for a few years and got the Biz card last year, that AF ($99) is due this month. Yes, each card gives me a free night, but DH also has the Premier. The free night is only up to a 40K night so that's been challenging for us to use. Thinking I'll dump the Biz card and keep the other. Am I missing anything?

Is there a rumored end date to the elevated CIP offer of 120k UR?

Also, any success stories of being approved for two CIP's in a row? I was approved in April and am trying to decide what Chase biz card to go for next. Not sure if I should try for a CIP again, which seems like it might be pushing it, or just try for a SW biz or maybe a CIC. I have 3 open biz cards currently, all opened in the last 12 months. TIA!

The anniversary FNCs with the Premiere and Biz cards can be topped up with points. While it's probably not economical to go very far above, I've had success finding somewhere in the 40's when I've wanted to use them.

That said, the only real difference I see between the two is the bonus categories, there are a few more business ones like office supply stores at the 5x earn rates. But that's only helpful if you actually spend on the card.
The Premier gets the $50 United Travel Bank credit (but I hardly consider $25 that expires in 6 months a benefit.)

Otherwise I'd keep whatever card lines up the best for anniversary certificate use. That's all I really hold IHG cards for, so maybe I'm missing something :-)

Congrats on finding the JAL availability! Yes, I would just use the CSR. They get 2 free bags and the weight allowance is more at 70 lbs.

You can find the JAL confirmation code on AA and select seats on the JAL website.

Thanks! Unfortunately, when try to pay for my Dad's reward ticket fees (on his AA account), it rejected my Mom's CSR because apparently the name on the card must match his name.

I will pay for my Mom's reward ticket fees with her CSR.

Which card should I use for my Dad's fees?

Anyone with advice? I hate these last minute snafus! Just want to pay and move onto the next part of planning.

FYI I just got denied for the SW Biz. Spoke to recon 3 times. Two reasons were - opened a card too recently and too much credit. I offered to move credit around but still no go. As far as the “opening a card too recently,” I had last opened a CIP in July 2023. I also have 3 CICs that are all several years old.

I would go with the CSP for the insurance.

Sorry about the denial. You can close a CIC and try again in 30 days.

From DPs, it seems that most people can only have 3 open business cards when applying for another one. Looks like this applies to all Chase business cards and not just Inks. Recon and moving CL around used to work, but no longer.

Sorry about the denial, but thank you for the data point. Hmmm, might have to get DH to apply for something instead.

I haven’t tried for 2 CIPs in a row, but I have been approved for two CICs….I think with 3 open business cards you could be approved for a 4th…probably depends on the CLs on your Chase cards and if you have been using the ones you have

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for the info. This makes me nervous about canceling my current CIP (July 2023) and then reapplying. I will be down to 2 biz cards after I cancel current CIP, with the last one being my SW biz in Dec 2023.

When I cancel my CIP, is there any reason to keep the $5000ish credit? I am thinking don't keep it so that is less credit I would currently have.

On hold to speak with AA representative now. Won't let me make payment online with any card for either Mom or Dad. So glad I didn't wait until the last day to try. Ticket is only held until 8/16. This is so stressful.

I did call AA last night to add a positioning flight home from ORD to MIA. I tried on chat and they wanted me to cancel the ticket from HND-ORD and then rebook it as HND-MIA.

That was too chancy for me as those were the last 2 business reward tickets from HND-ORD. I was going to purchase a separate ticket for the positioning home but I read on flyertalk that people were able to call and have it added after the fact. The points for the entire flight even with the added segment remain the same.

At first the AA representative said that she didn't think it was possible to make such changes/additions but she put me on hold to check. Come back and said she could do it. She had to put me on hold while she figured it out because I think it was the first time she was attempting this. I thanked her for her patience and help in making it work for us. I think based on reading on flyertalk that since I only had the flights on hold and not booked already, additions of positioning flights are possible.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with AA. Having trouble online making payments was a blessing in disguise! She helped me ticket the reward tickets for both myself (Mom) and Dad and I was able to use Mom's CSR for the taxes and fees for BOTH tickets on separate AA accounts!

So happy when things finally fall into place!

Now to start working on the outbound flights! Back up plan is either UA for 250k/pp OW (OUCH! :crazy2:) or cash because they saved on the way home... Before the mileage game, they would have paid in cash for at least premium economy, so cash of $6K for the 2 of them isn't too much more versus the $12K for the round trip in cash.

Leaning towards the UA flights for 500k points one way in business. They have 600k+ URs and can always get more. What's the point in accumulating them for my parents if they don't use them for situations like this? My Dad is 89 and my Mom is 80, those URs can't be transferred out of their household...

Do UA miles expire now? In case I can snag Business Class rewards at a lower rate a week or so before their departure and I need to cancel the 250k reward tickets?

Agree with you, I’ve seen the same…3 business cards seems okay but 4 of any type open seems to lead to a rejection…i usually max out my CICs so hate to close one in the hopes of being approved….have also found lately that having a balance on my other business cards helps

DP for my business card approvals. I was approved for a 4th business card today. It was a CIP. Before applying I lowered all my credit limits on my business cards to $1,000…although now when I think about it one limit may have been $2,000. I also put some spend on every business card right before applying for the new one so each one had a balance posted. I was not automatically approved but I was approved within a few hours of applying. Not sure if everyone already knows but in the past I could not lower my Southwest business card under $5,000. (I no longer have this card so not sure if this is still true).

I was approved for 2 CIP in a row last week. Besides the other CIP opened 3 months ago, I have 2 CIC and the IHG biz open.
