Can you reimburse yourself for the medical expenses from your HSA even though you pay with a CC?
Yup!

Of note, not only can you pay your costs with cc’s but there is no time limit. You can request a distribution to cover the cost (keep those receipts though!!) years after the cost was incurred if you’d rather keep the funds sitting in the HSA- even if you aren’t using a HDHP at that time.

Just here to vent an annoyance LOL. I have Rakuten for me and p2. I use Edge for my main browser, and I cannot log out of P2 Rakuten account. I have been trying for weeks. So my Disneystore shopping trip didn't credit, because it was my email LOL. Wasnt' a big amount but it's so annoying. Why won't it let me logout LOL?
I have alot of issues with RMN on my desktop mac.
If you use incognito or private browsing you should be able to log in to your account

Yeah, I can, it's just annoying, cuz if I am shopping I have to remember to stop, and change broswers.
Yeah frustrating. I can at least shop RMN on my desktop it stays logged in but if I want to view my account to see if CB has tracked etc it gives me an error and will not let me in, I have to get on my phone to see that info

I can yes; however, I plan to cash flow this expense by earning points with paying with my new cc and not withdrawing from my HSA. I'm getting a nice interest on that HSA money and I don't want to touch it unless I absolutely have to (and I don't have to).
Makes sense! I was just curious, we don't have an HSA, used to have a use-it-or-lose-it flexible spending acct before retirement, now DH is on medicare and I'm still covered through his former employer.

Would you know if I can contribute into an old HSA directly that I still have open from a previous employer, even though my current employer does not have a HSA or HDHP?

You are not eligible to contribute to an HSA if you're not on a qualifying high deductible health plan.

You can continue to use the funds you've accumulated to play qualifying health expenses.

Pretty sure you have to be on a HDHP to be able to contribute to an HSA- its one of the questions that turbo tax asks when I'm completing my HSA form every year.

If you can upload your documentation to the HSA portal or maintain a separate file folder, there is nothing currently to prevent you from being reimbursed from your HSA perhaps in retirement 15 years in the future even with old medical payments that occurred after the HSA was opened/funded. Just don't lose the proof.

No. Contributions can only be made into a HSA when you are currently covered by HDHP. Distributions for medical expenses can be made anytime after the HSA is opened.

No you cannot. We still have a balance in HSA that we cannot add to because the insurance is no longer HDHP.
Thank you. Figured it would be too good to be true

I have been looking into how I can use the CSR $10 non-restaurant credits. On my DD app, under groc/retail/convenience, I have several options that have a pick-up button; 7-11, Sheetz, Wegmans, and 3 shops apparently located at a DashMart (Ice Cream Shop, Magnolia Bakery, and Flower & Gift Shop).

At first I was excited to see Wegmans, but it only listed ready to eat deli foods and prepared meals so I don’t know if this would actually code as grocery/retail or restaurant. Also, with Sheetz and 7-11, the options included grocery items as well as ready-to-eat foods. Again, I wonder how any order will code on checkout. Finally, the “DashMart” had 3 shops listed for pick up. I didn’t realize what they were until I looked up their address. The actual DashMart listing did not have a pick up button but three specialty shops did. I never even knew there was a DashMart location.

Finally, I realized I have existing $18 of Dining credits from my $5/month plus rebate/credits for pickup orders that are already on my account. Pretty sure they would be used first when I do try to use the new non-restaurant credits.

I know I have to try it out to see what happens but what a PITA. I want my simple InstaCart credits back LOL

Start to keep track of these expenses and receipts. My plan has been to use cash and I’ll reimburse myself in retirement. I just started tracking a few years ago. Good news COBRA medical premiums and Medicare premiums (not Medigap or advantage) are also HSA reimbursable.

Once I retire, I’ll move my HSA to Fidelity. They have a great product with no admin fees and all the investment options.

Sorry about the denial. You can close a CIC and try again in 30 days.

From DPs, it seems that most people can only have 3 open business cards when applying for another one. Looks like this applies to all Chase business cards and not just Inks. Recon and moving CL around used to work, but no longer.
It's been a minute since I have been on the boards. You can add me as a Denial DP for a new business card. I applied on 8/5/24 and got the 7-10 days message, then a denial letter. Pretty much the same as the others, too recent opening a Chase Business card, too many active accounts/too much credit, and low usage. At the time of my application, I had 5 business cards open. 1-CIP, 1-United Airlines, & 3-CIU's. Just closed the UA card and can close a CIU early next month due to it not being a year yet. I also have 2 personal Chase cards, 1-FF, and 1-IHG. Total business credit available is $13,000 & personal credit available is $6,000. Combined that is about 14% of household income.

I have pre check and recently got global entry for my upcoming London trip since I had a credit available. Is there any reason to add my global entry number to my departing reservation since pre check is attached and still valid? Do I need it attached to my reservation for my return flight for any reason?

I've seen some reports that people have been denied using Global Entry if the number isn't attached to their reservation. My recommendation would be to just go ahead and put it in, and update all of the FF profiles to have the GE number.

I have been following for awhile now but this is my first post in this thread. I have read the first few posts, especially the part about asking all of your advice BEFORE applying for a card. However, my husband and I discussed new card options and before I could tell him to hold on a moment he went ahead and applied (and was approved). I do have a few questions though so here it is:

We have a chase Disney visa that we have had forever. An exxon card and a citibank visa.
My husband also has a citizens business debit.
I have the target red card.
All of these are over 5 years old and we dont carry a balance.

We are loyal to no airline or hotel chain.

We have no big travel plans at the moment except I am toying with the idea of Japan in March of 2025 to see the Dodgers. However, I belong to their traveling fan club and they are putting a trip together so I might just go that way. Or I might not go at all as my Nephew gets married a few days after the baseball games.

My husband applied and was approved for the CSP. I told him not to put me on as an authorized user so he can refer me later. I feel like I read that here? Is that correct?
Question, when should he/can he refer me?

Also, if I apply and get denied (I do not get paid in a traditional manner) could he/should he add me as an AU? Or would there be another card he should apply for? He does own his own business.

I am sure I will have more questions at some point so I would like to thank you all now for your patience and expertise!

Others will chime in with more thorough advice but just to say, your husband did pick a pretty decent card to start. Chase has numerous cards that earn URs. CSP is one, which means you can get quite a few other cards which can add to your pool of URs. Good call on not adding you as AU, he can refer you any time as long as you can meet the spending requirements. You can use household income (ie his income) for your application, but don't put 'unemployed'. I think 'other' employment is the correct choice but someone will chime in with the best choice here.
Your husband's business can also allow you/him to apply for biz cards and Chase has UR earning biz cards as well. Let him know he needs to slow down and research your next move. Playing this game smartly with 2 players will yield a lot more rewards.

Thanks. I used Alaska miles to book Aer Lingus. Hopefully I can do it online.
