I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 & 2024 (see first page for add'l details)

I'm racking my brain trying to come up w/ what to spend my $300 CSR on. I finally used the Delta card on a hotel for Ireland (which credited). I somehow got a rental for the week for $95! It's thru budget. I keep triple checking to see if I got a manual by mistake or had the wrong dates, etc.

I need to decide where we'll stay 2 other nights. But I think I'll be using Hyatt or Hilton points for those. IDK. At this point maybe I will just buy a refundable plane ticket and just get my $300 that way.

I think I must've apped about 10 days previous, maybe 2 weeks. Could I pay the AF before it's charged? the bonus page says AF has to be paid before bonus posts
Pretty sure I tried that with my Barclays jet Blue card, and it would not let me pay more than the current balance, so I had to wait for the AF to post then I paid it off online.

Did your daughter talk over your plan with her BF? If he had no idea you had this plan, how is any of it his fault? If he knew and didn't say anything, he probably needs to be gone. If he didn't know, I wouldn't hold that against him, everyone travels differently. My SIL plans absolutely nothing, she buys tickets 4 weeks out and books hotels once she's in the city. SIL literally brings my wife on WDW trips so that my wife will do the planning as my wife can't stand not having a plan.

Who knew that the BF needed to be consulted when Mom is making plans for daughter's birthday in 3 weeks? Certainly not me or the daughter! Daughter's calendar was clear and so were her parents. They have been dating for less than a year, not engaged or living together or anything. No one even thought that he needed to be informed in advance.

She thought that if he wanted to do something special on her birthday, she would have known by now and therefore, welcomed me to fill in the void.

But lesson learned, we will all need to include this wildcard variable in the future.

Btw, there was no guarantee she could have gotten a full week off from work about 3 weeks in advance. Therefore, it never even occurred to anyone who plans ahead and plays by the rules, that this would even be a possibility! We even had a contingency plan if she had to work on her birthday, to take her out at lunchtime before she had to work.

She literally had to beg her manager. She isn't above shedding tears. :rolleyes1 But what would he have done if she couldn't have gotten a week off? It is too late to cancel a cruise 3 weeks prior to sailing. Would she have to threaten to quit? And actually quit if they didn't budge? He had this cruise planned for MONTHS, he didn't just book it. I bet he got HIS days off from work before the full payment of the cruise was due. Why is her work less important?

It's not his fault for trying to plan a nice surprise for DD1. It is his fault for not preparing for and clearing any potential problems and conflicts with his plans involving work and family. We do that all the time with our regularly scheduled vacation travel. We all know not to book non-refundable trips until we are approved days off.

I don't think he was malicious or anything like that. I think he is a kid that just didn't think beyond what works for him! :P I hope he learns from this. But since I didn't make a big deal about it to him, maybe he won't...

I am done being mad. It's a PITA for me but we have suffered far worse for our kids for less pleasurable things!

Good luck with using the CSR $300 credit.

We have never actually had to purposely use it. It seems to always get organically used up for parking, tolls, etc. But I guess if it needs to be used within a shorter period of a couple of weeks, that would be much different.

Warning - I just need to vent.

My DD1's boyfriend is on my naughty list. I'm really PO'd at him. :furious:

We visited Orlando to see my DD1 and DD2 for Christmas. They both live there. Before driving up from Miami (where we winter) I needed to decide about flying home to NY to continue getting our house there ready to list for sale this coming spring. We would either fly directly from MIA/FLL or could drive up to Orlando and fly out of MCO. DD1's 26th birthday is coming up in mid-January. I asked her if she had plans with friends, etc. Obviously, she would rather celebrate with them most times.

She said she had no plans, so we planned to drive up 2 weeks after returning from Orlando to celebrate her birthday with her before flying back to NY from MCO. We would leave our vehicle at her house and she would drive us to the airport.

Just before I purchased non-refundable tickets on JetBlue, I called to double check with her again. She was happy we were coming. As the flight was about 3 weeks away, I purchased the Basic Blue for $89/pp ow + $15 for advance seating because I was feeling flush. I think regular Blue was like $50? more per person? We had no luggage as we were flying home. I got to use my new Barclay JB MC.

Her BF had the entire week off for Christmas and was staying at the house. He lives and works in Tampa. We found out recently. Too crowded at the house for our liking. No biggie. We used my parents' MX timeshare and did an exchange with Interval International into Orlando. There are always some availability in Orlando. We normally prefer to stay at one of the Marriott Vacation Club resorts but there were only studios and one bedrooms available or the dates were off, like the week after Christmas.

We picked a 2 bedroom at the Westgate Blue Tree Resort in Lake Buena Vista to exchange into. That way DD2 can stay with us some nights. The unit was old but clean. It was perfectly fine for our needs. The LOCATION WAS PERFECT. It was a block away from the intersection of Palm Parkway and 535. Convenient to the Daryl Carter area for food options. We just slept there. We didn't use any of the facilities or amenities.

We celebrated Christmas early including the BF on Sunday and Monday because DD1 had off. We had dinner at La Luce at the Hilton Signa. One of the best meals we have had at Disney in a long while.

DD1 had to work on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. She drove to BF's parents house (about 45 mins from Disney) after work on Christmas Eve (after 10pm) and stayed over and then drove back to get to work at 12:30pm on Christmas Day. BF's family opens Christmas gifts on Christmas morning.

At his family's gift opening event, DD1's BF gifted her a Birthday Cruise for Christmas!! It's actually a wonderful and extravagant gift. But he kept that gift a secret the entire time and told NO ONE. He planned it months ago and thought he was a mastermind in keeping it a total secret. but he didn't consider ALL the variables! I am NOT a fan of travel surprises. Lol.

The cruise is for a full week and sails out of FLL. She leaves before we get to Orlando and will be gone the entire week. He arranged to car pool from Tampa with another couple traveling and so, she can't come down early to see us in Miami and even if we drive up earlier, she will be going to Tampa to car pool from there.

DD1 had to beg her manager for time off last minute (cruise is in 2 weeks). Good thing he thought it was "romantic."

Now we have to drive 4+ hours to Orlando, only to have to Uber to the airport from her empty house! The cancellation fee for the flight is more $ than the ticket, so we are just going to suck it up. We could have just flown out of MIA/FLL for less money!! I am soooooo salty about it all.

I mean if it didn't involve non-refundable tickets, it wouldn't be a big deal and I wouldn't care and would be happy for her. I waited almost to the last minute to even purchase these tickets and now I'm kicking myself.

DH says not to make a big deal out of it TO THEM and rain on their parade. DD1 feels bad but it truly isn't her fault because she didn't know when she okayed me to buy our tickets. If I vent too much, it will put a damper on her trip and I don't want to do that to her.

If I vent to family and friends, it will influence what they think of the BF who maybe one day will be part of the family. DH has heard enough venting from me and doesn't want to hear more because he is upset at the upcoming waste of a drive, especially since he will be doing all the driving!

I am still upset and still need to VENT!!!! So, here I am venting to my Dis friends who I hope will understand my upset and disappointment when perfect travel plans get derailed by unforeseen and unexpected forces that are beyond our control!!!! And since that "force" is the BF, I can't help but put all the blame on him and be kind of angry at him. He stayed in my home when we all went to the Taylor Swift concert in Miami, just 2 months ago. He couldn't have pulled me aside and told me and asked me to keep it a secret and not to plan anything myself! DH says that in the future when we make any plans involving our DD, we may need to ask her to specifically ask her BF to okay them before we commit.

ARGHHHHHH!!!!! He has NOT earned any brownie points from me!!! His only saving grace right now is that he treats her well and she seems happy. Momma's not liking the boyfriend ruining her plans and costing her $$$ and wasting her time and energy!!!!!!!

:mic::crazy2::headache::mad::crazy::scared::eek::scared1::earseek:o_O>:(:upsidedow:sad2::sad::sad1::charac2::offtopic::thanks:

FWIW, you can cancel a nonrefundable jetblue flight for travel credit. If it's still reasonably priced for you to fly out of your home airport, I'd book a new ticket so you don't have to make the drive/pay for uber. Cancel the jetblue flight and take the travel credit for a future visiting your daughter. Nevermind, I just saw that your cancellation fee is higher than the price of tickets. You must have gotten a deal!

Pretty sure I tried that with my Barclays jet Blue card, and it would not let me pay more than the current balance, so I had to wait for the AF to post then I paid it off online.
Yea Barclays wouldn’t allow me to pay it on their site early either but I was able to do a bill payment from my bank before the statement posted and got the points at statement closing

Credit card fun. Put a deposit on a hard to get car today, and shortly after some fraudulent onlyfans charges showed up on the account. Wells Fargo not only cancelled the fraud charges, but also my car deposit! Looking back, DH used it at a gas station a week ago which I suspect is the source of the fraud; usually he uses a different card so I am not sure why he chose that one. Hoping I can get the situation with the car fixed tomorrow. :crazy2:

I don't do bill payment from my bank, I pay directly online by bank transfer, and could do it once the AF posted, also before the statement closed.

Hopefully they get it resolved for you soon!!

Do UCT tix count towards the CSR travel credit? I originally wanted to use my DH's CSR to pay the balance of our DVC dues, but there's a note on the DVC website saying the cc has to be the same name as the contract, and ours is only in my name so thinking that won't work.

The note is there but that should not be a problem as long as your DH is ok with you using his card for that purchase.

On my card I made 1 purchase on 10/24 and then the AF posted on 10/31.
My Payment for entire balance including my flight cents that had not been charged yet was received on 11/5
And Flight Cents was charged on 11/22.

My Statement closes on the 23rd of the month.

MY AA account had 3 different credits on 11/22
Everyday Purchase Miles
Flight Cent Bonus Miles
Welcome Bonus Miles

I did an online Bill Pay from my bank using the regular address.

Per my chat on the website

"To help with the processing of your payment, please be sure to write the full account number on the bottom of your check, and do not use paperclips or staples.

Regular mailing address:
Card Services
P.O. Box 13337
Philadelphia, PA 19101-3337

Overnight Payment address:
Card Services
400 White Clay Center Drive
Newark, DE 19711

Overnight payments must be received by 5 P.M. ET to post the same day. To ensure your payment is received by this time, please select the appropriate delivery time with the delivery service provider."

Is the payment mailing address the same for the JetBlue Barclay MC as the AA Barclay MC above?

I think so because it looks like both cards show up on the Barclay website and this is the only payment mailing address I see in the FAQ's, that is not for overnight mail payments.

I made a business expense charge on the JB card and want to schedule a Chase online bank payment from the Biz Ckg by 12/31/2024, so that the payment is made in 2024.

TIA.

Sorry I don’t know for sure. It most likely is but I would ask for sure. I just logged in, clicked contact us and then chose the chat option and asked. The bill was processed electronically as opposed to sending a check so it must be in the different banks systems.

Thanks. I will do a chat to confirm.

BF doesn't need to be consulted, but I don't think it would have been out of the ordinary for your daughter to drop that you were coming up to see her for her birthday before flying out of MCO. The entire time I was dating my wife, I knew in advance when her parents were coming to town, so that I knew not to schedule anything for those times that didn't include them. They lived about the same distance from us as Miami is from Orlando. I don't think there is any blame to be had, just a miscommunication, and different personalities.

My major flub of the week... :rolleyes1 so I have an upcoming WDW stay cobbled together with a series of reservations (points) at Holiday Inn.... a couple of months back I got a free cc night, decided to use it for one last night for my stay...inadvertantly booked the 2nd to last night I was planning (that I had already booked) and for some reason last night I decided to get out of bed and go check on my reservations.... (trip is in a week!) good thing I looked! Dang...... thank goodness it was simple to switch to the proper date for that last night! Otherwise we would have been scrambling last minute to find a night somewhere....

Question about estimated Fed Inc tax payments. When should I be able to see the payments I've made in my account on the IRS site? I don't see anything for 2024.

More tax loveliness. I've done this for the past 2 years so 4 prop tax bills. No problems. I use the fee free MCGC/VGC to pay. The site is wonky so you can't make a payment of the same amount on the same day or sometimes even the next day. So I have 14 payments I've made but only 13 show up. One, right in the middle, went to surplus; not to my account. Now I have to fill out a notarized form to get it applied to my bill. Better than I thought - it was just gone or credited to someone else's account. But a huge PITA to get straightened out.

Why do I use the MCGC/VGC - the fee is less on debit than credit cards. So I get 5x on CIC and lower fees than using a CC. Though I may rethink before June (next bill).

I had to do the same thing.

My account was overpaid as I was taking advantage of the lower debit fees and cleared out the card. I figured they would just credit my account for next year but nope. Had to do the whole notarized thing but at least the my sent a check for the overpayment afterwards.

Apparently, I need to start accumulating some JetBlue points and I saw their elevated CC offer just ended. :rolleyes2 Any data points on how often they update the offer?

I stayed at the HGI at T2 at Heathrow for the night since the flight landed around 10pm. Interesting location -- you have to walk across a parking garage to gain access (I had seen pics on FT so it wasn't an issue). I did mobile check-in alas my key didn't work in the elevator so I couldn't even try it on the room (couldn't get to my floor). Went to reception where they told me that the control tower tends to deactivate mobile keys (??). Got to my room and settled down to watch The Bear when the power went out and stayed out for 5 mins. I suppose these things happen, but there is no emergency lighting in the room so the room was pitch black except for the light on my screen. Had power for maybe 15 mins before it happened again, again, again, again and again. I had to call the front desk from my cell phone and they blamed it on Heathrow, saying that the airport was cutting power and they had no control over it. I found this incredibly annoying and dangerous since I was in the bathroom once when it went out and nearly tripped over my carry-on. Room was fine, mattress was super soft, like so soft that if I was too close to the edge I would've fallen out. Breakfast was okay -- not winning any awards, but cereal, yogurt and a fresh orange were enough for me. I stopped by the front desk on my way out and expressed my (extreme) displeasure with the power interruptions -- nothing was done / offered. They blamed it once again on the airport -- be that as it may, the hotel could still have emergency lighting in the rooms, a flashlight for guests or a generator. I probably wouldn't stay here again -- I'd take the tube to T5 and stay at the lovely Sofitel.
Chiming in to agree that the HGI at T2 (or what I refer to as the world's most expensive Hilton Garden Inn) is nothing to write home about. DH and I stayed there because he wanted direct access to T2 for our early morning flight and we didn't have any power issues but after being spoiled in other hotels it was just ok. VA had canceled our flight and we had to take one the next day so VA ended up paying for it but I wouldn't pay that much for the place.

Ugh. This is one of those complicated parenting things. If you say something then you're the bad guy/gal. If you don't say anything, you can expect this to continue to happen. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
