I love credit cards so much! v5.0 - 2022 (see first page for add'l details)

Just a reminder, but I'm sure you all already know and do this, but make sure you travel with at least 2 CC! I had to go out of town for work last week (I turned down a corp card so I could accumulate my own points lol), and on the way down, pulled out my card to pay for a glass of wine. I think I tucked the card under my leg thinking I'd put it in my purse later since my purse was shoved under the seat in front of me. You see where this is going? I get off the plane and am waiting on the hotel shuttle and realize I don't have my card! I immediately got on my Chase app and reported it lost, and thankfully I had an Amex card with me as well. I usually have 5-6 cards on me, but was only taking a carry on and switched to a smaller purse (one night trip) so really pared down what I normally take. I always have a non-Amex card with me as there are some places that still don't take it (looking at you Wendy's!). I do have cards stored in my mobile wallet so there's always a way to pay, but that can be a hassle sometimes as well. I think of myself as a savvy traveler and couldn't believe I did that!
Great reminder-not sure if I mentioned here that my Amex account was hacked while I was in Europe in June and as a result I had them freeze every card (what a pain) until I could return to the States and figure out everything (I was on the phone for at least 2 hours with 6 different reps one day in Prague). Fortunately I always travel with my CSR and DD had an AU card for a different Chase so I wasn't left high and dry. But yes, always a good idea to travel with more than one card issued by different banks.

Success-I obtained the World of Hyatt business card last December knowing we had several major house projects for 2022. I held off on spend until January, and between the 5 nights from the personal, several stays (Key West, MCO, The Driskill, Miraval, and a local mattress run) with the spend on our new master bath and in process powder room, hit Globalist after my August 1st statement closed. The final draw for our contractors will be on the same card and that spend, in conjunction with another stay will put me over 70 nights, so more Hyatt points:dogdance:.

I added the cat 1-7 FNC (earned with Globalist) to our Jan Hyatt Centric Key West stay (rooms are running $1786!!) and it was applied before they even sent me the congratulatory email  . As I've mentioned before, I try to be intentional about credit card openings around big spends and while the WoH biz isn't for everyone, it's really been a good card for me. Hopefully this helps anyone who is on the fence about this card.

Super frustrated. Trying to take advantage of the 5x grocery on the Hyatt card, and it gives me a fraud alert. I cleared it through the email they sent, and proceeded to try the transaction about 5 more times (self checkout) Not authorized every time. How am I supposed to hit the bonus if they won’t let me use my card. 😡

Does anyone know the average time frame for support points to show as pending for Chase Ink cards. I’m almost positive that DW used my link for her CIC but now I have doubts. She was approved on July 28. I know Chase says 8 weeks but it’s always been much faster in my experience I just don’t remember how long.

The Avios nightmare is OVER!!!! I sent emails on Friday to the CEO's again explaining that we were short 1 biz class seat on the return flight home. I gave my mom's booking information. Avios called her this morning. She conference called me in, and on her booking was a note w/ a business class seat being held for her! She paid the difference in taxes and avios (and the $55 change fee...but we'll take it). I'm very impressed with the action from them vs the call centers! And now we can really start booking the rest of our trip! SOOOOOOO excited!

Aer Lingus people, when/how can we book our seats? I got the travel documents, but when I try online it says I can't. It says something about being able to book seats 72 hours before. I asked today when we were booking my moms and she said we should be able to online or to call. I guess we could call.

Next - Amex sent me a "preapproval" for the Blue Business Cash. Since I'm in popup jail with Amex is it worth it to go for this offer? It's $750 cash back for $15k spend in a year. Which doesn't sound great. It does come w/ 0% for 12 mos. So I could charge the braces probably. People on Reddit and FT said I my pop-ups could be on Amex Biz cards only. So I'm torn on if I want to do this offer or not. It's not a card I was looking at getting. And since I already have 3 Amex, it would likely be cancelled at some point since I don't really want it, LOL.

For those booking Undercover Tourist cars, what a nightmare it is when you need to cancel the rental. Since you prepay for the car, they need to verify that you did not pick up the car before you can get your refund. It then takes time for that refund to process and post. I thought it had been canceled in advance but when I got to the counter in Ft. Myers to pick up, they tried to use that reservation and I had to give them the number for the right reservation.

What a mess!

We are at the Hilton Marco Island using FNC. It is nice having dining options across the street but the hotel and beach are just ok. The beach has too many shells for my liking but at least you can enjoy the ocean without a lot of seaweed and it is like bath water, it is so warm. I doubt we will return here. We head to Clearwater on Wed which is more my jam.
I used a FNC there 2 years ago. The beach is shelly. Our room wasn't the best. But it was a good use of the cert on a quick trip. And I liked the beach chairs/umbrellas. That said, I likely wouldn't use a FNC there again.

Also good to know UT is a nightmare. I book like crazy on Costco, but UT has been lower when I was looking at places to go. So it's good to know it can be a mess.

I try to travel with a few. Even when I went to Mexico I took like 3 cards I think. I made sure to grab one of each that was foreign transaction fee free, LOL.

The Destination Experts at Trip Advisor (locals) really hate when people land on overnight flights and then take off on long drives, on the opposite side of the car and roads.

I would tend to want to land in a hotel room if I was arriving at 5am. Our flight (next June) arrives at 8:45am and we're driving about an hour outside of Dublin for our first overnight. It's on a Motorway straight shot from Dublin, so we're hoping we can manage that and then have lunch and keep moving. I would be shocked if we didn't have some sort of nap once our room is ready (that's not unusual for us on any vacation, lol, and we keep pretty busy), but it'll depend how much sleep we can get in Aer Lingus Biz.
That's my biggest fear is driving "backwards" on little sleep, LOL. I think I'll look into booking a room for a few hours and then tackle that. The flight from BOS is so short I don't know if I'll get enough sleep.

In my experience the support points usually show up on Tuesdays, and typically around 3 weeks after approval. I would expect you should them either tomorrow evening or the 16th.

I'd call them and find out the issue.

If they are replacement cards and that's why they have the same number I still wouldn't use the one's he's using. The issuer could tag it as fraud if it's used in and out of the country.
I'm an AU on the CSR which we use extensively on travel/dining. I suggested he use one of his Citi cards in the Philippines (Citi seems to still want a travel notification which Chase doesn't) so I can use the CSR in Orlando. I think most of his dining there is covered in the scuba package.

As a side note, if anyone has suggestions on nice hotels/areas to go to in Florida that aren’t too far from Orlando, we’re also up for suggestions! We’ve been to Clearwater twice and Disney Vero Beach twice, adding a few days on to our Orlando trips. I’m not sure our family would enjoy more than 2-3 nights just at the beach, but it’s so nice to relax for a few days before/after going to the parks!
We enjoyed a few beach days at New Smyrna Beach after DCL.

Hello! I’ve been a Disboards member for many years, but usually just as a reader or casual commenter. For years we only used our Credit Union cards- debit for general use and credit for Christmas and emergencies. Now we have several and I want to add a Disney card to the list. We already have (gotten in last 24 months):
Feb 2022 Southwest card
May 2022 Amazon card- not Prime as we share a Prime account with our son.
May 2022 Apple Card
We also have American Airlines Advantage Aviator, Frontier Airlines card, and our original credit Union card for 40+ years.

We are settled into retirement and are now planning our next 10 years, at age 70. Our fixed income will be going up as I have an account from a teaching job from 40 years ago that I have never touched. We want to travel, mainly cruise due to my health issues, and visit WDW regularly. We live near Tampa and have been APs for 10 years, since we relocated to Florida.

We usually spend 3K to 5K a month, mostly on our airline cards, which we use for everything. I knew I needed a new iPad, so I got the Apple card specifically for that. I did not read carefully, and thought there were benefits to the Amazon card, but without getting a separate Prime account, there are no benefits. I will want to dump that card as soon as possible, but since I’ve never cancelled a card I have to investigate the best way to do that.

Anyway, I want to get us the Chase Disney Premier Visa. Any advice?

I used Undercover Tourist to book a car, and since it saved me over $900 compared to Costco (thanks to the bundle discount) I think it was well worth it. In our case, DH decided he wanted a SUV because we were going to pick up his mom on our way to our nephew's wedding (and she doesn't pack lightly!). The Budget agent at the car rental facility was able to upgrade the car and apply a Costco discount (which I had no idea was something that could be done) to the upgrade so we just paid the difference at drop-off. It still ended up less than 50% of the Costco price for the intermediate car rental.
As I've mentioned before, I try to be intentional about credit card openings around big spends and while the WoH biz isn't for everyone, it's really been a good card for me. Hopefully this helps anyone who is on the fence about this card.
P2 opened up this card a month ago (we have college tuition to pay now) and I have a spreadsheet figuring how much I have to put on it to reach Globalist by the end of the year. The ambitious part is I'm trying to reach the 50K spend by Nov so that I can get the 10% rebate on redeemed points (have 200K points worth of redemptions between Nov and Dec, and it would be nice to get 20K back). I'm mostly MSing so it's a test of my sanity; I'm not sure I'll reach it or if it's really worth doing lol.

Is there a certain cruise line? With the exception of DCL, Chase URs can be used for cruises by calling. I went this way once but have since used CruiseCompete.com for the lower pricing and just figure out a way math out covering the cost of the cruise.

First Instacart order to use my Chase credit was a partial fail. I have never used any grocery delivery services, my local store doesn't carry the bagged coffee I like so I ordered 3 12 oz bags and got one 12 oz and one 18 oz. I know, math is hard. They are giving me a credit on my next order, so I guess I will try again.

Speaking of math, my DD recently put a deposit down on a new car, and the sales rep told her if she didn't like the car when she came in she could get her deposit back 1000%. Really? We doubt that.

The new Instacart + benefit with Chase: has anyone used it yet? We've got Freedom cards, so 3 months free plus a $10 quarterly statement credit.

From what I can tell, the membership gets you free delivery and reduced service fees (although I can't find examples of the reduced fee published). Given that Instacart jacks up their in cart prices and still charges a percentage service fee, I'm not sure if the $10 credit would make up for the cost compared to just doing a Walmart delivery. We're looking at breakfast foods and snacks for an 11 day trip, so not a crazy long list.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I might be a broken record on this, so forgive me for posting this again, but I do get excited about my savings! We use Instacart+ for the groceries we buy weekly at Aldi. Aldi through Instacart doesn't mark their groceries up much- at most 5-10%. With the Instacart+ membership, we do pickup, which is free. This is also shopped by Aldi employees who don't accept tips, as they get paid their regular rates (vs say someone who is working in the gig economy like Doordash). Also with pickup, we earn 5% back.

One thing I also like A LOT about Instacart is their commitment to quality. If there is ever a quality issue with an item, it's a simple push of a button through the app, and it's immediately refunded or credited. Super easy.

We've used Instacart often on vacation and it's great for what you are describing- snacks and breakfast foods. Just depends whether you prefer pickup or delivery on vacation, as far as the associated costs and gratuities.

Besides the Chase benefits, you can also link your Delta account to earn Delta miles on your Instacart spend. You can also load Instacart gcs to your account, if you can find them at a discount. If you go that route, make sure you charge enough to your Chase card to get the monthly or quartely statement credit.

I'll confirm in a few days if my statement credit posted as expected, as this is my first month using the CSR.

I received the offer for Instacart + on my CSP for quarterly benefit 'up to' $15 per quarter. I'm trying to read to find out how much you have to spend in a quarter to actually get $15. Has anyone figured this out? Also, it's a free membership for 6 months and then it's $99 a year - that I got in the fine print.

Thanks for the input. I wonder if the store that you're shopping has a big impact? I was looking at Publix on Instacart versus Walmart delivery. Something like a package of cinnamon raisin bread or English muffins was $5 each with Publix/Instacart versus under $3 at Walmart. That adds up fast if you're buying enough for a family of 5 to eat breakfast throughout a park trip.

Even with the delivery fee waived and the $10 credit, Instacart seems like it's going to come in super high if the individual items are all $1-2 more. Does anyone know if this is Publix specific?
