Ritz Carlton Atlanta is so much better than the Residence Inn! I may just keep my platinum. And I’m now driving in Atlanta with dd headed to the outlets and I’m scared.
I'm trying to apply online for a credit card. I have never had a credit card (or any kind of account) with this particular company before. I have successfully applied for credit cards online before.
It automatically filled in my email address after I typed in my name, address, etc.
But then it said, "Email validation failed" under the email address.
I did not click "submit."
Anybody know why this happened, or what it means?
I did delete what was there and tried typing it in myself. Same problem.Did you try typing in the email or using another email?
Never heard of it. Maybe there's a space or it doesn't like the autofill, not all forms do. Maybe it's not seeing the email. Or try a different browser.
I never use autofill on forms like this in case I don't catch a mistake. Not all of my autofills have accurate info due to various swagbucks etc offers. So while my regular email should all be good, I always type it myself.
Thinking of you as you’re going through this. In early 2020 my mom fell and broke her hip. Then COVID hit and I was left with being unable to visit and being responsible as POA for selling her house/paying the bills. Thankfully I contacted an elder law attorney as her money was quickly depleting. they were able to save her life insurance and help us get through the penalty phase. We were aware that she could gift us kids money but we didn’t know it was limited to $500 total each month. So we would have been on the hook to pay that back.Well my dad loves keeping this a roller coaster! Weds I was so mad at him for giving up, I stormed out of his room. Last night the man was carrying on nearly full conversations. He also was able to hold his water cup and bring it to his mouth to drink! When he refused ALL WEEK to do ANY PT now he's determined to get moving and get in a chair, etc. He kept grabbing onto my forearm and trying to pull up his upper body. He wasn't moving much, but he was able to lift himself a little. And I told him, trying is going to help him get stronger!!!
Today he gets kicked out of the hospital to the SNF. I wasn't ready for this, but there was a SUPER NICE (well as far as SNF) center very close to my house, and on my way home from school that had 1 bed open. He managed to get it. I think it's the best place for him to go to motivate him. I'm not sure how much of the time will be "free" and how much of his stay is covered (medicare rules are confusing). But I'm hoping he gets enough time there and really starts to work. Thursday he was telling me he was going to die. So to see him Friday determined to get better again, was amazing! Maybe he is starting to believe in himself.
He was asking for an iced tea last night. So I'm going to bring him one as a bribe to behave today, LOL.
We're you able to protect any of their assets? My fear is that he's going to need medicaid and it's going to basically wipe out everything he's managed to save![]()

Right now I'm paying his bills, and we're starting to do things that medicaid allows (like fix up his house). But it would be nice to save some of his savings! I think I can protect his house (trailer) by saying he has an intent to return. But I'm not sure.
It came to a head yesterday and I went off on my mom. She of course defended my sister. She said I needed to tell her what she needed to do. Ummmm, I texted a list of things! She easily could have volunteered. At this point my messages with her are limited while I work through my issues w/ her. And my mom has taken over relaying everything.
Hey @afan I tried a different web browser, and it worked!
Thank you so much for your help.
I have a big expense coming up which I can put on a credit card. I'll be able to meet a sign-up bonus spending requirement, so it seemed like it would have been a waste if I didn't sign up for a new card.
Also, a big thank you to everyone who gave me advice when I started pondering this a few weeks ago.
(I always thought the people on the Yacht & Beach Club thread over on the Resort Forum were super nice, but it turns out that the people on this thread are great, too!)

Glad you got it to work.^^^ This. The rules are tricky, and can be hard to find. You can't just google it and think you are getting accurate info. You don't know what you don't know -- which can include info about assets that are or can be protected.Thankfully I contacted an elder law attorney as her money was quickly depleting. they were able to save her life insurance and help us get through the penalty phase....
If you have the funds, I highly recommend an elder law attorney!
For a weekend trip from EC, definitely WDW.So I’m considering a solo trip for a few days in December. Just me, not my family lol.
I considered like going tj the jersey shore or just into Philly or something, but I think I want to go to Disney. I have a friend who works for abc who could give me a 1 day park hopper. I’m getting a $1500 bonus and want to keep everything under that.
So; Orlando or Anaheim? I live in PA, so Orlando is clearly the easier choice. Stay in the bubble, hit mk and epcot on one day and just chill another day or 2. Could probably swing a moderate resort.
Anaheim- want to see the haunted mansion holiday overlay. But a lot more travel time, a time change, I’m a little nervous staying at an offsite place alone with the walk, and I can’t afford on-site. Any off site place wouldn’t have a nice pool like a Disney world moderate to relax by.
This is all semi hypothetical, I have a weeks pto im saving for the likelihood of covid and missing work. No one in my house has had it yet, so it seems inevitable.

Both of my boys ended up with COVID from Labor Day cruise but I somehow escaped it. DS went to the 1st day of his new high school then missed 4 days when he tested positive, back for 3 days and then a stomach bug on Fri. Thank goodness his teachers have given him his assignments so he can keep up and he has his AP courses in the spring. (They have 4 classes a semester.) So you make continue to luck out.

There are plenty of great, close by, places to stay off site at DLR. I've walked by myself, though I was never by myself due to other park guests. I never felt unsafe.
It's a longer trip, but if you take the first flight out, you still have most of the day once out here. Not sure Dec would be sit by the pool weather but that all depends on what your sit by the pool temp is![]()
For me, if you don't have any potential trips planned in the next few years, I'd go there and see the holiday stuff. I'd rather do the further flight to see something new, plus the time zones work in your favor more when you travel west.

Not sure if it would work for your dates, but I recently stayed at the Westin in Anaheim with youngest DD and felt completely fine walking back at night from there. As @afan mentioned, you would rarely be alone as there are always other people walking back at the same time. I was a little unsure of this before our trip as it had been about 30 years since I had been to Anaheim and its changed just a bit since then. Thanks! 75 is probably sit by the pool temp lol. Lower if it’s a hot tub.
And thanks for the walking alone push. I guess with recent news, it just makes me extra skittish as a solo female. Hate that it’s even a consideration, but I’m an anxious person at baseline, so yeah.
We were just at DL in august, but with our young kids. It’s a harder trip with them. We’ve done wdw a lot, had APs the 2019-2020 although cancelled them with the pandemic as I work in healthcare and wasn’t allowed to leave the state. I’ve seen Christmas at Wdw. I’ve never seen it at DL and Disneyland was an instant hit with me.
We stayed at the Fairfield in august and I’d likely stay there again as I have Marriott point and could stay for free. So a short, well trafficked walked from the entrance.
The SSI application makes the Medicaid app look simple.Thinking of you as you’re going through this. In early 2020 my mom fell and broke her hip. If you have the funds, I highly recommend an elder law attorney! The MA application is very lengthy and the amount of paperwork needed is massive.

I'd be torn between DL and WDW for sure. I love DL and obviously things you want to see there. Check the Chase portal if you have URs as you might be able to book one of the motels right at the DLR exit, minimizing your walk. (after rebooking a couple times I got tired of stalking the Marriott site and just used URs to book a closer place for last June.)We went on two big trips this summer, my youngest was in daycare last year and 14 of the 16 kids in her class had it, but she never did (I had her antibody tested, so I’m pretty sure of that). I hope we can somehow maintain out luck.
