Not to change your mind if you can't do the spend anyway, but the email to add a Business Platinum to your wallet are the ones that ended up having the annual fee waived. I just got another email today after already getting a no AF Biz Plat in December. The chance of 100kMR with no AF is tempting me to go for it again.

ETA: Looks like there is lifetime language in the email that I didn't see. But who knows if this current round of emails is no AF if you've never had the card before.

Wait... some people have had the AF WAIVED? That's a whole different ball of wax because there is no loss even if we can't figure out the spend. I mean, nothing gained, either, but.... hmm. I don't suppose there is a way to know prior to applying?

Although I always got the popup when I was trying for the Hilton Aspire last year (or the year before... it's been a blur) so there's a good chance this would not be a possibility anyway.

FYI - I heard reports that the emails that went out today are not NLL. Can you check and report back?
I know this wasn't directed at me but can you tell me exactly what I am looking for here? I've heard lots of references to NLL but is there a certain phrase or keywords, so I know for the future?

Looking for a vacation spot for mid-May but unfortunately needing to stick to the US. DS starts an internship the following week, and while I'm totally happy to vacation outside of the country right now, I just don't want to risk the small chance that he would test positive for covid before returning from our trip and be stuck missing the first two weeks of his internship. We just did WDW in Dec, so not looking to do that again yet. My family likes active vacations. Well, DD and I would be perfectly content sitting on a beach and doing nothing for a week, but DH and DS can't handle more than a day or two of that. Would love to be able to use our Hilton points or FNCs somewhere instead of dipping in to our URs, but either way it's ok. I think we would enjoy visiting a national park, but for some reason I just can't seem to get my kids on board with it (DS21, DD19). I was looking at Baker's Cay and Marco Island. Can anyone with experience comment on what there is to do in those areas? I see Baker's Cay website says they offer paddle boards and kayaks, fishing gear, recreational equipment, bikes, etc. Would love to hear some details about that- like the space they have available for using those things and if they have a lot available? On the other hand, we have annual passes to Six Flags for any of their parks because they kindly extended all 2020 passholders through 2021, so we were thinking of maybe heading to San Antonio. We've never been to Texas. Any thoughts on that area would be welcome, as well as thoughts on the Six Flags in San Antonio if anyone has been there that would like to comment. Thanks!
We went to San Antonio Labor Day weekend and had a nice time. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country that is right near SeaWorld. We just enjoyed pool time and went to visit The Alamo in the morning before our afternoon flight home. I would love to go back.

@ski_mom and I are headed to Baker’s Cay next month. @snowmanlover is there now or just recently left. We were supposed to be heading to the Caribbean for Spring Break but are opting for the FL Keys instead for some place new and to avoid the testing constraint (although our resort in the DR was offerigg by on-site testing.)

@Alexle2007 - we must be following each other because we were also in San Antonio last fall lol. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on the River Walk and really enjoyed it. There's a lot to do in the city and the surrounding area.

We went to Marco Island for a week in July as well. I think for active vacations, San Antonio would be better than Marco Island. We loved them both, but to me, the beach vibe is definitely the focus of Marco Island, whereas in San Antonio, there are a lot of things to do close by.

For those who have activated the 5x on gas on their Freedom cards this month AND who use Dosh - Dosh just added Circle K at 4% cash back!

following up on my own comment - do y’all suspect that in-store gas station purchases will trigger the on the Freedoms? Or just actual gas purchases?

This same thing just happened to me. I see that you ended up getting the card but did you also get the bonus points?

Tagging @georgina since it happened to her too.

No card yet. I did add an employee card and transferred some credit from a CIP. So it is definitely a new account. I was hoping there will be the information when the card comes that explains the offer. It is weird. I’m sorry it happened to you too!
I SMd Chase about this, applied last Friday (CIU via support link), got “Offer not available” message but chase pulled both Experian and TU and I woke up to a new card in my account on Monday morning. I asked them to expedite it, which they did, and also sent a separate SM asking them to confirm the offer on this account. They confirmed it’s 75k UR for $7,500 spend in first 3 months. Still waiting for DH’s points to post since I applied via his support link, hopefully will be able to see them pending Tuesday night.

Yes I think it was your post I was remembering! I really don’t have anyone else’s bill I can use it on- that would be a great idea. So maybe I’ll try the gc. Hate to lose out on $10/month. Did this happen to you every time or did you get a working gift card at least every now and then?
ETA: I see you did say never. Yikes!
I can help with that ... PMing my phone number so you can apply it to my bill :D

I will be interested in hearing the responses. We are also not willing to head out of the country right now and will have some time in May to travel with both girls. I have mentioned the national park ideas, but they are not excited about it. Baker's Cay and Marco Island are on my list as well.

Big Universal fan and I love CBBR. Got a passholder email from Universal today that they expect to hit capacity at VB early in the day once they reopen. It is so easy to walk over, even if only for a few hours.

Rides - I am a big coaster fan. Gringott's is barely a coaster, has like 1 small drop and a lot of screens, some spinning. Forbidden Journey induces motion sickness in some because it is on an arm that swings around from scene to scene. Hagrid's is such a fun ride, so fast and smooth. My DS who doesn't like coasters liked the Mummy indoor one, it has a couple of jerky stops. Lots of twists and turns but not big drops. I have been suffering severe withdrawal as I usually go at least 3 times a year and haven't been since last Feb.

I can do little coasters... I was going to skip Mummy because the description sounded like it was a big coaster. Not true? Looks like spiderman might be? Any others with big drops - I can't do those.

I love the mummy--not a big coaster. Spiderman is more a motion ride--I hate those because they make me super nauseous.

The Hulk is a big coaster (I like the Hulk). The one where you pick your music is also a big coaster--I avoid that one at all costs--it knocks me around too much.

With motion sickness issues, there wasn't a lot that DD and I enjoyed at Universal a lot (except Harry Potter) but we LOVED The Mummy!!! Rode it multiple times while the guys did the stuff we couldn't do.

Thanks. I am taking notes. Although my kids love it when I do these kinds of rides as I scream the entire time and they laugh at me... Last time I did Space Mountain I told them they were both out of my will... (they were laughing so hard - me, not so much!!)

Amex Biz Platinum MSR is officially completed. I have another $9,000 in expenses (Q4 taxes, car insurance, and a medical bill) to pay by 4/15. Plus another $4,600 for a new stairmaster. I don't want to apply for another Chase Business card until I cancel one (waiting for my Southwest Performance Business anniversary to cancel it) because I'm currently holding three. Have no clue what to do next.

I loved it too. And Men in Black. But yes, so many motion rides. Once I turned 40 I had to stop riding those.

So I'm confused on the Amex Biz Platinum emails. I got one. It seems like there will be an AF but when you apply the lifetime language isn't there even though it's in the email. Can anyone clarify? Because for some reason I'm convinced I need a fourth platinum card in my wallet.

I have an income tax question. DD22 graduated college in May. Since then, she's been couch surfing between friends, he sister and my house. I am not planning to claim her a a dependent (I'm not sure the rules even allow for that). Could she file her own taxes if she barely earned 5K overall this year?

Absolutely! My kids filed making less than that, when they were still dependents. I think she has to claim with $5k.

Did it come with the AF waived?

NLL stands for No Lifetime Language. Most Amex offers will contain wording such as "Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card or previous versions." If something is "NLL" it will not contain this language meaning you can earn the bonus on this card even if you previously earned a bonus on it.

FWIW: I would classify the Mummy as a significantly more thrilling coaster than space mountain. It is faster (and to me feels significantly faster - primarily due to its launch), and has a larger drop.
