I'm going to apply for a new Chase business card in mid-February. I'd been thinking CIP all along (sadly the minimum spend isn't an issue), but now I'm second-guessing, since double the minimum spend only gets me 25k extra URs (100k instead of 75k) - AND CIP has an annual fee. And the bonus categories for CIP don't do anything for me since those are all covered by other cards. 3x on shipping is the only "extra" I'd get.

Of CIP, CIC, and CIU, which offer support links? (I don't have a P2 that is eligible for business cards, but I like to spread joy - and URs.)

As long as you have one of the 3 biz cards I think you can create a support link which creates a link for all 3 cards. My CIP/CIU support links have all 3 biz cards.

All of the Chase business cards can generate a support link....you could apply for one of the no fee cards then 2-3 months later the other...easy 165k URs after both spends

Decided to book a trip to Universal for March Spring Break (from the cancelled cruise that became the cancelled trip to Cabo...). Never been and we are going to Disney in May so figured this would be a good time to try out Universal. Got a great AP Rate for Cabana Beach Resort (about $1000 for the week). Booked a car service with CSR UR's - only 8100 points RT.

Question on tickets. So, I am going to get the seasonal AP tickets as they are not much more than a 4 day ticket. I can book a 4 day ticket with UR's. Can I get that with points and then upgrade these to AP once we get there? And can we do that at the hotel or do we have to do that at one of the parks?

Very excited to try something new. Volcano Bay opens up right before we are there so going to include all 3 parks in the AP's. Now I have to read up on everything as I know NOTHING about Universal. Especially the rides that are Roller Coasters - I can't do those (except the small ones like Thunder Mountain and Mine Train). Any input would be great. Thanks.

I love Cabana Bay. I'm not a foodie but really liked their food court. Food was decent and prices were good. And it's so easy to get to Volcano Bay from Cabana Bay. When I did my first UO trip in 2017 I hung out on the Universal Orlando board for a while and learned a ton.

Its been a couple years, but we bought tickets with UR's and I upgraded one of them at the Portofino Bay Hotel. Was a very easy process from what I recall.

Love Volcano Bay - I could quite happily while away my days just hanging out there.

That's what I am doing now... Lots to learn.

Thanks. I will then get the tickets with points and then upgrade with there. Volcano Bay looks awesome. I dont' do any of the slides and stuff but content to just people watch and read a book while the kids go and do their thing.

I had that decision to make in Dec and went with the CIC for the 5x at office supply stores. I figured if I could max out the 5x, I come out ahead.

We have stayed at Cabana a couple of times and it is such an easy walk to VB from there. Our APs just expired and I am now second guessing not renewing them.

Any questions, ask away!

Nice! How is it? Did you get a room upgrade? How is the breakfast?

We really like it and would return in a heartbeat! They offered a room upgrade, but we didn’t take it because the room wouldn’t have a sofa. It was a room with a view. We are on the first floor and it is a good enough view for me! We had breakfast here 2 days and it was good. Omelette my DH had was HUGE!! His pancakes and my French toast another day were good, also. Coffee was good and I’m picky about my coffee! Lol Breakfast is pricey even with the $38 credit they give towards it.

You'll have to let us know what you think. We were going to stay for two nights on the way down to Key West, but are now also staying two nights on the way back. We couldn't find anything nice for a decent price, so couldn't pass up the 42.000 points per night for one more weekend stay!

I think it’s a GREAT value for 42,000 points! Any questions, I’d be glad to try to answer.

AmEx Platinum newbie question:

Do Platinum AU’s get their own bonus offers (e.g. ones like the recent Motley Fool offer, or the PayPal one)?

Trying to decide if it’s worth it to pay the $175.

Big Universal fan and I love CBBR. Got a passholder email from Universal today that they expect to hit capacity at VB early in the day once they reopen. It is so easy to walk over, even if only for a few hours.

Rides - I am a big coaster fan. Gringott's is barely a coaster, has like 1 small drop and a lot of screens, some spinning. Forbidden Journey induces motion sickness in some because it is on an arm that swings around from scene to scene. Hagrid's is such a fun ride, so fast and smooth. My DS who doesn't like coasters liked the Mummy indoor one, it has a couple of jerky stops. Lots of twists and turns but not big drops. I have been suffering severe withdrawal as I usually go at least 3 times a year and haven't been since last Feb.

You could always get the gold for free and it comes with the GE :) And, yes, they get their own offers on their account logon. DS has 2 Golds at the moment since DH and I both have Plats.

We booked in Brighton because they would allow a cancellation. My DH and I will probably still go for the weekend to take pictures and celebrate in some fashion....but I’ll probably rebook in A2 assuming rates go down and cancellations are allowed now that graduation is cancelled.

Ahhhh Brighton is north of me. But I'm assuming you probably can get rooms in A2 as it gets closer. Like you said, with the graduation cancelled.

AU would get their own Amex Offers, like the Motley Fool one. But they wouldn't get their own PayPal credit since that's a card benefit (like Saks, Uber, and the airline incidentals).

I had this same decision back in November and got the CIU. The minimum spend wasn't an issue either, but like you I didn't think it made sense to spend twice the money for only 25K URs. We will keep the CIU, we would not have kept the CIP after the first year.

Got an email to apply for the Amex business plat.

For a brief moment I actually considered it.

Then I looked at the spend and there is just no way! Oh well. I really don't want a $595 card anyway!

Thank you both! The distinction between card benefits and offers makes sense!

I do have 1 gold AU. I’ll have to get the login and see what offers are listed.

Does anyone know - do free Gold AUs get different offers than Platinum AUs would (both being AUs on a Platinum account, if that matters)?

The one thing not mentioned (I think) is that the AUs get the money for Global Entry if that matters to you. The other offers don't make it worthwhile IMHO. We have Plat AUs here but that goes back to long before we started playing this game.
