Gaaah! Just sharing my excitement over a small thing today..... I've been waiting and wanting a Kitchenaid mixer for quite a while now....couldn't bring myself to purchase (I don't know why I cook like a fiend daily) anywayyyy... I got the target redcard debit offer a month or so back, with the 'spend $100,get $50' coupon....and waited. This am I checked the website, and the type (and color!) I wanted was on sale.....plus another 15% off in cart!..... I went thru Rakuten, used the coupon, plus the redcard for another 5% and saved $93 off the sale price on the website!!! (dang these things are pricey) anyway with tax it was about $145 overall..... I'm happy! It seems the size and color I want always cost more.....:cool1: next time I make cookies it's gonna be fun to play with this!

This “eliminating family boarding” story is one of those “old wives tales” or maybe more on topic is a Disney bus-driver type of rumor. I hear it often on the DIS from people trying to gaslight conversations but nobody ever can provide a concrete example of a flight where it happened. Family boarding is part of SW’s official boarding process and is spelled out clearly on their website in the FAQs: https://www.southwest.com/html/generated/help/faqs/boarding_the_plane_faq.html

(enforcing the age is a different story and may actually occur)
I know, right???? from my own IRL experience, no agent cares if the kid boarding with a family group of 8 is in their teens....they just make it a policy not to care about it,IMHO. So I wouldn't worry they'd turn you away. That said, I wish they would care about the group sizes in family board..... it gets ridiculous, our last flight the plane was over 3/4 full by the time they started the B line.....(there were very few of us left at that point-extreme roll eyes here) and I will say this, I travel with all adults, and we're all fine but there's still that little voice in my head getting annoyed for some reason. I'm sorely tempted to drag my YA son to the family line and just see if they say anything :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rolleyes1 rant over. still love SWA and all my wonderful free flights.

Question, I don’t know why I can’t wrap my head around this. Is it better ( discount wise) to use my CIP to pay my bill that is charged to my room ( at Disney world) or better to use discounted Disney gift cards? I usually bring Disney gift cards to pay for my meals, but if it’s better to earn points on the CIP I can use it instead.
I go with whatever is the best discount, and I prioritize cash in hand over points accumulated. I collect DGC all year long whenever I can get them for 10% or more off. Right before the trip/annual DVC dues I top off what I need with DGC from Target at 5% off. My highest CC points back would be CSR at 4.5% (3% on travel, 1.5x redemption).

If I had a MSR to meet, higher points earning potential, or was accruing points for a specific goal, my calculations may change.

This thread always makes me want one! Which one did you get? There are so many different kinds, I get confused over them. I don't even like to bake. lol But I always want one.

Ooohh Now I am thinking an airfryer. Decisions. Anyone have one they recommend?

It's usually better to use Disney gift cards that you've already gotten a higher return on. Most Disney gift cards you've gotten a minimum of 5 % on, there is no credit card that you can use at the Disney desk that will give you a better return.

I'm editing after reading @Lain 's post. If you have an MSR that you might need the spend for, that's a good reason to use a credit card.

I have never seen them turn kids away from family boarding either, if one of them is 6 or under. I have seen them make announcements that only 2 adults are allowed to board with them and that extended family needs to board with their own group. I hate boarding with B's because they're after the families (It's my get off my lawn moment). My last B53 killed me a little inside. I do think that families should board after EBCI. I never buy it but i'm annoyed for people who do, and end up with a B (which I've seen happen).

There have been quite a few reports that some WN GAs are cracking down on family boarding, and occasionally they eliminate it all together. The actual policy is two adults with a child six or younger. This is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to book WN for my family of four since my oldest ages out of family boarding next week.

What @SouthFayetteFan said. I would not worry if I were you.

Yay! I love it, we use ours at least once a week and usually more

I can't wait to have out ours and MILs at the same time for Christmas cookies lol. I may spend my Plat Saks credit on a second bowl...

Are you working on the CIP’s MSR? If so, the outsized return from the SUB makes charging travel to earn 3x UR a good way to hit MSR.

If not, do you have a way to get Disney Gift Cards at 5% off or 5x back or better?

If you are not working on the CIP’s MSR, a travel charge such as charges to your hotel room earn only 3x UR. That’s 3% back in cash, or 3.75 cent per point if redeemed through the Chase UR website for travel on the CIP or CSP (4.5 cpp on the CSR).

If you have a Target REDcard, you can buy DGCs at 5% off. If you have a CIC, you can get 5x UR back on your DGC purchased at Staples, Office Depot/Max. If you have a Chase Freedom, its Q4 5x bonus category includes Chase Pay and you can use Chase Pay at Best Buy to buy DGCs and get 5x UR back. Plus, you can probably use a shopping app to earn more on your purchase. There are other merchants that accept Chase Pay, but I’m not up to date on all the options. That’s because a 5% savings should be the bare minimum when you’re looking to buy DGCs. I’ll scrape the bottom of that barrel in a pinch, but there are so many options for 10%+ that’s out there and better to focus on.

Discounted DGCs are almost always a better deal than earning 3x UR on the CIP.

Glad to see the Kitchenaid talk is back! I love mine. I was just saying to DH how much I still love it. I think mine is about 15 years old now. Use at least once a week if not more. Last night it mixed up meatballs. I just ordered an extra bowl for Christmas cookie time. It took me way too long to decide to just buy an extra bowl. Used some credits on Chase cards at staples and lowes to get Amazon cards to order a few things last week - one of which was my bowl.

We flew out of Orlando once and after paying for EBCI still got a B position. There was a HUGE line for family boarding so we went up and paid even more to be upgraded. We aren’t huge fans of southwest. I’d rather pay allegiant prices (much cheaper) and know what I’m getting.

Thanks everyone, I have been purchasing 10% DGC's for dues for awhile now but would stop after my dues were paid. I have been using my CSR since I got it for WDW trips (including adding my AP to the room charge). I had already planned on including the cost of my AP this year in my DCG total, but I see now where it makes since to just keep working the gc path,. I was quitting way to early.

Thanks to those who mentioned the new round of offers on Chase cards. I got a few good ones. Of course, I have to keep spending on my Amex Delta. I hate big MSRs! :crazy2:

What did you get? I'm not sure if I already got and used what you mention or if I've missed something. I just used my 15% Lowes offer this past week and a couple of $6 Staples offers, but I didn't get the 35% off at Olive Garden. My Chase App keeps glitching to the point where my phone asked to put it to sleep as it's eating battery time.

Last night it mixed up meatballs.
Why have I never thought of this... my least favorite part is mixing up meat when making meatballs or hamburgers! Do you use the paddle?

This is a big thing for their CCs for me, the one's that cover so many upgrades. Even if it was OOP now I'd rather pay the $40-$50 and know I'll be up front vs pay $25 for EBCI and maybe still be far back. Last trip back from Disney there was a guy complaining at the counter because he bought it and got a C spot.

Week wrap up - I made it one day to Staples for some MCGC. I was able to get $1000 in one purchase. Also had an offer on my CSR and CF for Staples. For those I got some GCs for Christmas presents and Amazon purchases. I had 3 separate transactions with all the GCs on different cards. Probably drove the cashier crazy. Last time the cashier didn't know how to split the total on separate cards so I just had him ring separately.

Also hit up Lowes since I had 10% offer on CF card. In addition to more GCs, I also stalked their clearance plants and got two nice carnations that I can plant. Last year I got 6 day lilies for $1 a piece on clearance that turned out very nice this year. Buying and planting perennials in the fall is a great, cheap way to add to my flower garden.

Last night watched Toy Story 4 (from the library). I was a little worried after reading all the negatives here. While not the best, I didn't hate it.
