Other part I overlooked before is I did get the 50k certificate. Which works for Swolphin most dates. Just saying...

Main caution is to play it safe and keep upgraded card for a year before you downgrade. My personal opinion is it works best if your anniversary date and upgrade date is staggered. Mine and DH’s are about 6 months apart; 6 months from AF posting date and upgrade date.

So, if my AF is due in a few days, I should pay it and then upgrade sometime before the 125k offer expires?

So I haven't been able to find an answer for this, but it is regarding the Chase Disney Premier card and the reward dollars. Let's say I renew my AP's at a cost of $2200....the Disney Reward Calculator says $44.00 in monthly rewards and $528.00 in yearly rewards. Is this based on a $2200 per month or per year spend on the card? I couldn't find those details anywhere. Also, if I pay off the card in the same month, are the rewards all issued at that time or is there a waiting period? Thank you all!

Your rewards are based on each purchase. If Disney is 2% for the premier then you will get 2% of $2200 or $44 for that purchase. You will also pay an anual fee of $49, so you will will effectively get nothing for that purchase. I think there isn't any of us on the thread that has this card, except a few that got paid to upgrade for a year. It is not a great card. Are you interested in getting a better card? If so, see information on first page and share what your goals are.

Thanks for the link! If I apply for the Brillant all by itself, why would I upgrade to it? Sorry, brain is fried right now...
Twice the points, twice the benefits (nights etc)
SW flights are loaded
Yay! We’re booked to NOLA for Spring Break! Only 12k points per segment, I’ll take it. Thanks to @SouthFayetteFan for the early flight loading tip.

I want to say that your story is very similar to what @tink1970 experienced when trying to get the CIP for her DH. I hope I’m telling it right. Her DH has his own business, applied and was denied — couldn’t believe it! She just let the application lapse past 30 days and reapplied on behalf of DH by herself the “right way,” since she already had his implied consent, and her DH was approved! For all he knew that approval was from recon of the first application.

You are exactly correct...that's how it went down. @LB002 --my DH is a verrrry reluctant P2 and is very literal so trying to explain to him that his business needed to be a "business" not a business was...impossible. So, we are now the owners of a CIP but it was not without some stress (basically mine trying to explain how it arrived "by magic"). 🤣 :tink:

Here's why I would:

1) Amex bonuses are once in a "lifetime" and if you upgrade that counts and eliminates the option of an original bonus on the Brilliant. So MSR-> 75K points + upgrade points =200K v. only 125K (obviously an extra MSR there, though).

2) With the wonky weird and byzantine Bonvoy card rules, basically you're locked into having only Amex Bonvoy cards so if they're worth anything to you, you want to max out your ability to earn (see #1).

Honestly, if you can swing the $8k double MSRs that's the best way to maximize Bonvoy earnings.

I think DH *wants* to cooperate, but doesn't have the bandwidth to focus on the details. I'm a details person, so you know, marriage.... 🤣

Man, I'm never wanting to book multiple people from multiple airports with coordinating arrival/departure times on a SW release morning again :scared:

But it's done and I still have RR points left so I'm calling it a win! The IND-MCO roundtrip for 1 was half of the total PHL-MCO roundtrip for 3 :scared1:
