Soooo.... when I got approved over the weekend for a Hilton Amex, they nicely provided the card number/pin etc so I could use it before the card arrived.

Just tried to make an online purchase with the info they sent me and it's declined.

Anyone experienced this? I'm sure the hard card will be here soon and I may have written the number down wrong?? But just checking to see if this is something that the experts have experienced.
I had the same issue with P2's Surpass. I had a screenshot of the number so I know I wasn't messing it up. When app'd the number originally didn't come through and we received a statement credit, then I did eventually get it. I can't remember how, maybe it finally loaded or something.

DP on getting approved for the Delta Biz Plat with the offer on the Delta website, after being in pop up jail forever and ever. DH was approved earlier this month, met MSR this morning, 75k miles in his Delta acct tonight!! Now, will this have any effect on future pop ups?

DH applied for CIP on 9/2. He first got the message they needed more info. Then he got the 7-10 day message, switched to 2 week message, now back to 7-10. What does that mean?!?!?!

(He did not follow instructions and he applied with his business name, not his name, if that matters).

Does he have a legitimate business and could he provide verification?

Woah woah woah... are you insinuating that MY “business” is NOT legitimate???? I think you meant to ask “does his business have a registered name or dba and can he provide verification of that name”. 😉 😉 😉

My business is absolutely legitimate 👍 🤣

Ouch :( Personally I don’t have a P2 but I have seen numerous people with one who handle the applications themselves and involve the P2 only when necessary (like, P2s know what’s happening, they just let the “pros” deal with the application processes). That’s not for everyone for sure but food for future thought :)

Wait...People actually tell their P2 what’s happening???? :confused3 What kind of crazy world is this!!!

(Am I right @amalone1013)???? :rotfl2::lmao:

When it's time to get that next card...Don't Delay! (Some thoughts on pacing)...

I commend our group on being hyper aware of responsible pacing in the game. To my knowledge, we've never had a DISchurner face shutdown and that's awesome! It's worth noting though that our pacing recommendations are intentionally conservative!

That's why I say, when it's time to get that next card, don't delay! If you're spacing things out by 3 months, then at the 3 month mark it's time to pull the trigger! Delaying by a week or 2 can have a compounding affect. I see people now considering a slight rush to their pacing to grab the SW Performance Biz and perhaps when you look at their history they put 110 days between an app earlier this year. Well those 20 days would come in handy right about now.

Part of this involves thinking 2-3 cards out. If you're simply playing in the moment, then you may procrastinate and let an extra week or 2 go by. Delaying like this can also cause people to be in a panic to receive the card, because they are without an MSR and it's killing them. So once you reach that magical pacing mark in your mind (for a lot of people that's 3 months) it's time to go!

Even if you aren't quite ready for a new card, as long as the MSR seems reasonable, go for it! Losing 2 weeks every time you apply can cost you an entire sign-up bonus over the course of 5-6 cards.

This comment isn't a result of any one person but rather a result of conversations I've had with numerous people as well as some of my own regrets in the past. When it's time to get that next card...Don't Delay!
I've been feeling this lately... we slow churn because I do all the work and I also work, have kids, life, etc. and I haven't been focused on cards. I am feeling some woulda-couda-shoulda lately!

You are so right and I am terrible about procrastinating. Good reminder!

Does he have a legitimate business and could he provide verification?
Yes, he does. He says he spoke to a person the day after he applied who said they were going to send something in the mail to verify (we haven't received anything) and since he has only called the automated number.

This may be the way to go in the future... we have had snafus on 3 of the 4 cards I have had him apply for.

The thing is, DH is a very successful and focused person at work! I "joke" that he uses up all his organization at work...

I can meet the spend right now at a decent pace. I can afford a 5/24 spot. But best I can pull on the referral is the 70k for the Plat. I can’t decide what to do! Stupid Amex and their lifetime bonuses. Incidentally the fact that this is not even my card but for P2 is not even a consideration. :)

Making me definitely consider upgrading mine...!!

Other part I overlooked before is I did get the 50k certificate. Which works for Swolphin most dates. Just saying...

Main caution is to play it safe and keep upgraded card for a year before you downgrade. My personal opinion is it works best if your anniversary date and upgrade date is staggered. Mine and DH’s are about 6 months apart; 6 months from AF posting date and upgrade date.

(He did not follow instructions and he applied with his business name, not his name, if that matters).

If I remember correctly, your DH has an actual business. The bouncing between messages suggests Chase was reviewing the app but couldn't verify DH's personal or business information. While the 7-10 days message is usually considered likely denial, what you can expect is Chase will send a letter that you should receive in about 7-10 days listing the reason(s) for denial and a contact number if you would like the app reconsidered. That number should be 1-800-453-9719.

The reason for denial is very likely they were unable to verify DH's information, but if you can confirm the information over the phone or provide some document reflecting his business, e.g., DH's license or other ID, a business license, DBA, business formation documents, EIN, tax returns, etc., and submit them at a Chase branch and/or fax them in, that should kick DH's app back to 2 weeks/30 days and DH should be approved eventually.

Again, the 7-10 days message is likely denial because of verification. If you feel confident enough to call recon(sideration) before the letter arrives, or rather have DH call recon or perhaps have you speak on his behalf, then you can get moving on providing the information and documentation to get DH's app approved.

Good luck! 🤞

Wow - I motivated some people tonight LOL!

I should also add... If you aren’t sure you can meet the MSE...DO DELAY! LOL! Because the one rule that trumps all others is don’t allow churning to cause yourself to spend more.

(But I like your plan about prepaying expenses because that’s legit and will not result in spending more) :D
I have a feeling we will have a slew of "what card should I get next posts! :)

Our plan was DH CIP Sept, refer me for CIP in Oct/Nov, and the DH bus SW in Dec and personal SW in Jan. Now that will all be delayed a bit while we figure out DH's CIP decision and possible re-application in Oct.

Question: What Chase business cards can refer to which cards? BIL is going to apply for CIC and I am wondering if he could refer DH to the CIP next month (assuming he is denied his Sept app).

I think I'm going to register for a second DISboards account just so that I can both 😍 and 🤣 this comment! Is @SouthFayetteFan2 taken???

EDIT: If it was taken that would be super creepy...like I have a stalker or something!

EDIT2: @Lain is right - I am the Notorious C.I.P.!!

So I haven't been able to find an answer for this, but it is regarding the Chase Disney Premier card and the reward dollars. Let's say I renew my AP's at a cost of $2200....the Disney Reward Calculator says $44.00 in monthly rewards and $528.00 in yearly rewards. Is this based on a $2200 per month or per year spend on the card? I couldn't find those details anywhere. Also, if I pay off the card in the same month, are the rewards all issued at that time or is there a waiting period? Thank you all!
