I have started MSing my BBP and freedom Unlimited with GCM. If I get points for the BBP I should be able to get 100,000 MR for about $165 in fees. For the freedom unlimited I’m hoping to cash out the fee cost and profit 20,000 URs a month. Once I get the hang of this I’ll work on SOs freedom unlimited and BBP.

I hear GCM is still alive for Amex.

A couple of quick updates.

Cdn Bonvoy AmEx: called Marriott today and they didn't have a new Bonvoy number for me. Called AmEx and they gave me the new Bonvoy number and confirmed that 55,000 points were put in the account. Per Bonvoy rules I have to wait 30 days to transfer the points, which is what I'll do and put them in dhs account! Yay! Success!

Barclays received my envelope with photocopies of my SS card, DL and copy of my bank statement at 3:08pm. When should I call to see if I have been approved :rolleyes1? Is tomorrow morning too early? Does anyone have the phone number to call?

SUCCESS!
I went to two Family Dollars today. The first one I used a MC Gift card that I did not set the PIN on. I used the last 4 on the card and it worked.
Then I went to the 2nd FD and used the card that I had set the PIN on and that worked too!
So looks like you don't have to set the PIN, but if you want to you can - both ways worked for me.

Thanks again @speedyfishy

I was able to do two Serve loads today at FD also! I used two $200 MC gc's from the OD promo. There's one that's actually pretty convenient to my work on my way to pick up my kids from school, and the cashier was really nice. The only bad thing was the manager had to come put a code in in order to do the loads. Not sure I'd want to do this every day since it requires manager approval, but it's nice that it's an option. I think there's another FD that's not too far out of the way that I can try too. I'll probably stop by OD tomorrow and pick up a few more GC's if they're available.

I really wish we had Staples in my city since they seem to have a lot more gc promotions but I'll take what I can get! :)

Thanks, I followed this DoC post this morning to more Barclays info and read that it’s difficult to get a second Barclays card within 6 months. I got my A+ the end of April this year. I have been using it a lot. With the 2% back, it’s my best non category card right now. I may pay it down some, wait until beginning of September, then apply. Do they update your TU credit score weekly? Last time I looked at credit karma it seemed like I noticed it very frequently updated.
I think it's easier if you've been consistently using any existing cards. It's not a hard and fast rule.

Your credit score gets calculated each time someone pulls your report. For services like CK they may have a schedule where they calculate it for you, but that's not what someone like Barclays would get - they'd have it calculated at the time of the pull, whatever was showing at that moment. Banks also tend to calculate their own scores using the different models. What you see on CK with the VantageScore system or Experian (or Discover) with the FICO score system is based on a stock model, but banks can tweak those models or use a different version. There's at least 9 different FICO models and all will give you a different score since they each weigh aspects of your credit differently. Mostly you use all these score services as a guideline.

We need help with homework and studying. I’m intellectually capable, but I value my relationship with my son and my sanity too much to try to take this on daily.
I agree this is really critical. Sometimes, they need arms length help and we are just too close to them. I gave up homework duties for my now 10th grader in 3rd grade to my mom. We had an awful and stressful first month of school that year - both of us in tears. My mom would pick him up after school and handle it until I got home from work. It saved us and we went through elementary like that.

Just noticed an email from a couple weeks ago offering 10k MR for enrolling in pay over time on P2’s plat. Any downside to signing up for this? I’m sure it’s been discussed before but I don’t remember.

Cap One Venture arrived today! It’s kind of a nice looking card. I’ll probably put it in DH’s wallet and let him use it for the little stuff he buys until I get closer to the end of MSR and need to finish it off. I need to finish off DH’s CIP3 but I imagine the bulk of that will happen at WDW for tips and souvenirs.

No downside. No hard pull. No commitment to ever use it. Easiest 10k MR ever.

Unlike credit cards, Amex's charge cards have to be paid in full with every statement, which means Amex doesn't earn interest on your balance. (And why Amex relies more heavily on "swipe" fees from you actually spending on their cards.) Pay Over Time is Amex's way of letting you pay certain charges over time like you would on a credit card so Amex can charge you interest on your balance. In fact, Amex has been including Pay Over Time as a standard feature on many of their new charge cards (e.g., the revamped Amex Gold and Biz Gold). You don't have to actually use Pay Over Time to earn the 10k MR; just enroll, collect 10k MR, and keep paying off your statement as you've always done so Amex doesn't get any interest from you. The 10k MR should post in 2-4 days.

I discovered in my researching today, that Dolphin is only 16k-ish x points a night for Thanksgiving (11/24-30). I can't make those dates work for flights, but disney hotels are much higher, so thought I'd pass it along in case anyone is looking for a good holiday rate.

What are you doing to MS with the BBP?

I can't imagine. I have a co-worker whose son has Down Syn

That is so wonderful that your mom would do that. I'm sure she enjoyed it. Total win win! I finally came to this realization when he went into 8th grade. It took me a long time to come to terms with spending money on something I should have been able to do myself.

GCM buying Visa GCs and getting money orders with them. I go through ebates so the fees on $1500 is $2 and change. I get $15 back from ebates the total GC fees are $17 and change. I can get a MO from .59-.99 but I also submit receipts to Ibotta and other apps to get some money back. I’m just hesitant because Amex says GC purchases won’t earn points and what else would one buy at a place named Giftcardmall lol

That sure seems like a lot of work lol. That’s really great that you’re taking advantage of it though
