Well, I have like 20,000 Southwest miles left and my SO's companion pass expires at the end of 2020. I think in 2020 I am going to try and MS 110,000 with the Southwest credit card for the companion pass. Assuming Ebates continues to give 1% for Giftcardmall purchases I would pay $257.40 for 200 500 Giftcards. on a good day I can MS 10 cards at a time. So best case scenario it would take me 20 days of 3 hours of work. So 60 hours. Is 60 hours of work and $257 worth 110,000 Southwest miles and a companion pass? Should I just fly other airlines?

More math: 110,000 Rapid Rewards are worth $1650. Minus fees $1392.6. divided by 60 hours that's 23.21 an hour but since I pretty much always fly with my SO the companion pass basically doubles it so it should be $50.71 an hour. (110,000 RR with the companion pass is like 220,000 RR for me minus fees $3,042) Thats not awful. or that same 100,000 in MS is worth 200,000 MRs with the BBP (if that still works) which is $2,500 when I cash out. I should just MS everything lol.

Thank you SO MUCH! We might go up to Mooresville on Sunday if dh's friend is free---it's a surprise party so he can't plan anything ahead of time  Other than that, Whitewater Center looks like the perfect activity for us 🚣‍♀️🏄‍♂️🧘‍♀️🧗‍♂️ I remember seeing it mentioned a bit ago and sort of glossed over the location.

Where have you used this particular filter?

The Grayl - Japan. ::yes::

For me I think it'd come down to, do you take trips because you have the companion pass or are you taking SW on trips because you have the CP? If the former, then I'd have to decide if the cost is really saving me any money in the long run. (ie. I spent $257 so I could spend $2,570 on more trips. if that makes sense)

If the latter, if spending the $257 (+time) is less than what you are budgeting to spend on SW or any other airline, then I'd probably consider it. In my budget world that $257 would be the cost of my companion's flights, which just one roundtrip could recoup that depending on destination. Also, if you would consider another airline, would that $257 be better spend gaining miles for that airline instead? Would you still pick SW without the CP for some or all flights?

My dd applied for the student and she has rotating categories and the good grade bonus. She got the card in June 2018 so maybe it’s changed??

Neither of my kids has 5% rotating. One applied 2017 and the other in 2018. Someone else posted that there are two versions of the card.

I was meaning to ask you this question today..... I want to app ds for the CIP - he has a 2-3 year history as AU on one of my freedoms, last year got turned down for discover(???) but got the BoA cashback card and a BCE(accidental app lol) his credit score last I checked was high 700-low 800's.... he currently runs his own part time handyman biz,and dogwalking biz- is there anything I should know or be aware of for his app? It's an actual biz, but no ein. And if he's approved, can we expedite thru sm? or calling.... also looking for thoughts on an AU, I know it doesn't count towards 5/24, but if I get one in my name as AU,will that affect my next CIP app?(in 3 months) Thanks for insights on this.

DS20 got our Bank CC when he turned 18. This January we got him the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card. (Right before he turned 20). I just applied him for CIP and he was approved. I logged into his Chase Freedom account and asked them to expedite and they did. He has been an AU on some of my cards for years. Just used his SS # for the CIP.

I now want to get DD18 a card of her own. The Chase Freedom Unlimited Does not have the $150 SUB anymore. Not really interested in Discover (they are not accepted everywhere). What do you think her chances are of getting the Chase Disney Card or even the Starbucks Card ( I know its not a normal card we would get - but it would be great for her for a starter card to earn credit...)

My dd actually applied for the Disney visa right when she turned 18yo and was denied, yet approved for the Discover IT like a week later. I think Chase would have approved her for the Disney Visa if she'd had a paystub to send them to verfiy income (that was what they requested in the letter). But she only babysat at that time, and while she made plenty of money doing so, we had no paystub to send in. If your dd has a paystub, then it's probably worth a try.

While Discover isn't accepted everywhere, it's still an excellent starter card because it's easy to get approved for, and once my dd had that, we only waited like 6 mos and then she got a CFU, two CIP's and a SW - all within the next 8 mos or so. It's like Chase just wanted to see someone else take a chance on her and then she was good.

I had no idea there were two versions either! I know the link I used (from DISchurners) for my dd's app was from the card that has the rotating categories.

Really good points. I think we really only travel because we have the miles. For example we are doing the SWGE preview in a few weeks. Without the miles and the companion pass we would definitely not be going. And obviously points aren't covering everything (food, tickets uber to the airport etc) so I am spending money I normally wouldn't if I didn't have the miles but I think it is still worth the extra out of pocket to get all of these experiences. I really need to set a travel budget though and have the MS fees and extras come out of that budget. We don't currently budget for travel, we just do what we want and miles helps offset the cost. This is leading to problems though. I think I need to set a travel budget for 2020 and stick to it. Only take these last minute trips and stuff if it fits in the budget. I can also add to it by cashing out points when I MS for cash. So maybe I can MS the BBP first to get some extra cash to help offset these expenses.

Thanks. Just so hard getting a card without a SUB...

So excited! Just scored being able to register for the UOAP AP Night while we are there in Aug! It had been sold out and “tickets” are being freed up!

We'll be there! My DH got a weird email saying his registration was going to be canceled if he didn't contact Guest Services. He emailed them asking what he needed to do and they emailed saying he was all set. Apparently he didn't have an eventbrite confirmation before. Not sure what he did. But it's all settled! Maybe they kicked out a bunch of people and that's what freed up tickets.

I know :( Got my dh the BBP two weeks ago with no SUB. Really painful.

Does the Discover IT not have a SUB anymore? It was small, iirc $50, but it is a good way to begin the cc journey. Also the 5% categories are lucrative, especially with the CB match for a year.

There's an awesome price for a jetblue flight to Newark for our cruise in October and the whole site is being wonky and I cannot seem to book it. Grrr. I even transferred 7000 URs so I could book. Not the end of the world, but super frustrating. Come on JetBlue!

Can somebody talk to me about the Express Pass Unlimited and staying at Hard Rock (or other top tier Uni hotels). When we check in - what happens? Are we given a band or a card or something that includes that benefit? Do we have to prove that we've purchased park tickets and for how many days?

I specifically ask because of my whole ticket issue:
- My sister is going to show up and check-in Saturday morning - her room has 4 people in it including my parents who aren't coming until later
- My clan and my parents will show up Saturday afternoon
- My sister may end up picking up all 8 tickets - obviously I have no idea how that will play out

So I'm trying specifically to figure out if my sister will pick-up the Express Pass Unlimited for my parents, and basically how the whole thing will work. If anybody knows the ins and outs of this I'd appreciate it.

Business cards don't follow the '3 days after due date' statement close general rule like personal cards do. You could have a different statement date. My CIP closes on the 26th of the month and payments are due on the 20th, so that's 6 days there. My CIC has 7-8 days between payment due and statement close.
Since you are still showing a past date for payment due it sounds like you haven't closed this month's statement yet. I'd look at statements and see what close date you generally have.

he's an Au on my Freedom...so this means he'd have a whole different login for a CIP correct?

Thanks. Just so hard getting a card without a SUB...

The Discover does have the $50 signup bonus. Plus this quarter is PayPal which could be easy to get 10% back on $1500 with a P2P transaction if nothing else.

My DDs both have the rotating category Discover and one applied last year and the other this year. Also didn't realize there was 2 different ones.

Correct. DS has a log in for the Chase Freedom but will need to make a new Log in once the CIP arrives (as it is a business card). Once he has the Business Log In then he can have Chase combine his personal accounts in with the Business Accounts so he will be able to see both cards under that log in.

I was just looking at the different cards. Looks like the Discover IT and Discover Student IT are the same except the Student Card you can get a credit for good grades. Is that correct? Anything I am missing.
