I worked for our county library through last year of high school and then all through college (until I quit to go to law school). I loved it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!



I just applied 2 months ago and had 5 credit cards. When I applied a number came up to call. When I called they said problem is already have 5 cards. I played dumb and said “why yes I can close one.” It worked out because on approval I asked them and they expedited the new one (Delta Gold Biz).

I used to work at a science resource center in college but that wasn’t as fun. Mostly everything I did was inventorying science kits to make sure they had all of the materials inside

In churning related news, staying at a Holiday Inn this weekend using a pointsbreak rate. 10,000 IHG points I got as a gift from the Intercontinental Montreal for being a Platinum member via the card. My accelerate offer includes 30,000 points for staying at two IHG brands so this stay and our Intercontinental stay next month should satisfy the requirement.

In three weeks, I finally get to check out the two hotels I booked almost a year ago. The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and the Intercontinental Montreal using points from the IHG card I picked up in 2017. I picked up some Fairmont gift cards on Black Friday when they had a bonus to pay for the Fairmont.

Free nights posted on my Hyatt card and my IHG cards this month. Used both for Hotel stays in Anaheim and San Diego.

I was actually looking at TPG this morning for the first time in a long time because I was searching for some reviews of hotels in Hawaii and Mommy Points did a long trip there. Then I started browsing through some other reviews and thought how it was funny that for a points website, they tend to pay cash a lot of the time... I mean, you'll see them use miles for international first class and stuff like that, but I felt like at least half of the Hawaii hotels she paid cash for.

DW's grAAvy train just derailed. Applied for her second biz card with a mailer 107 days apart. Denial letter saying the business already has the max number of cards we issue to a business. I called recon and they wouldn't budge and said you can apply within 90 days but they will not approve a second card until 6 months. My mistake may have been not closing the first biz. Bummer.

Interesting I think there is a change in the winds with citi. I also just got denied. Had closed one citi biz but had biz #2 still open.

When DW and I got married in the spring of 2012, we did a mini-moon at Aulani. It had just opened the summer before so it was brand new, and we did a DVC tour. Oh man, I remember having that same conversation with DW that we didn't want to be locked into Disney vacations, who knows where we'll want to travel in the next few years, and what about kids. Seven years later, we're still going to the Disney parks and staying at Aulani over the holidays going on 4 years. I'm sure the points would've been a heck of a lot cheaper 7 years ago, even direct.

Thank you for all the reminders. I keep meaning to do this, but I haven't found the time. I'll do my best to get it done this weekend. With my DD moving to Europe in a few days I'm just soaking up all the mother-daughter time I can get right now. It's going to be a long year.

Saw a comment about getting out of amex pop up. The consensus discussed by ppl who know amex was to bring your spendings back up to what u were spending when u were making your MSR.

So for example, if you were spending $2k per month on Hilton Honors card, continue to spend $2k for the next month and into next. This would be our guess on getting out of the pop up black hole.

Yeah, this really worries me, especially regarding DH's account since he hit that Plat Biz spend in the first month with a tuition payment. There is no way we can keep up that kind of spend. And a few of mine were taken care of very quickly because we bought some furniture, also something that we can't keep doing.

I've been watching Gossip Girl for about a week now and I love it! I'm already almost on Season 4 so obviously I've been watching a lot lol

And now you know WHY I booked it in the first place. First time there was in 2011 and I wanted to surprise my DD by staying there. I paid cash, but it was on an overnight layover on our way to Europe on points (first class) so it wasn't a total fail. Second time was when we were looking at colleges, and that one was booked through FHR. Now she says she doesn't even remember it.
