Hi! I believe the cash price was $825-$850/pp for direct flights from Boston that included seat assignments and carry on luggage (checked is additional). You may do better if you are not trying to fly around school holidays.

Everything else I was finding ridiculous 24-hr flights with 10hr overnight layovers, and/or options where seat assignments would cost our family of 4 another $800-$1000. I wasn't having luck using miles either - the reasonable flight schedules (no 10hr layovers) were SO many miles.

Can you tell we usually fly SW? I much prefer their "your fare is your fare" pricing to all the ridiculous fees other airlines charge.

Same and Same!

Thanks for replying. That seems like a fair price to me. I am tossing around the idea of a purposeful overnight layover though, since we will have a 4 1/2 year old with us.

I look at them as my fallback stash and not aspirational. If we want to do a quick weekend to Cedar Point - boom 25k points gets me a night. We did our Hershey trip, used 60k for that. We might do a trip to Busch Gardens and Williamsburg next year, they'll work for that. Also, if a wedding or kids tournament comes up that requires a night, boom there we go! Next year on our way to Myrtle Beach we'll find something in the 15k range for a quick stopover.

I feel like the sweet spot for Marriott points is finding those 15k-25k places along the way. And I like having them there to count on for that kind of stuff. Since they have no real cash out value I prefer to "fallback" on those vs. using URs which I know have a tangible cash value for me.

This is usually how I use my Marriott points too. I don’t think we’re using any in Japan next year lol. So far I’m planning all Hyatt and Hilton stays. My best redemption so far has been 35k for 5 nights in Tulsa, OK.

False alarm. They were just letters saying the electronic statements were returned so here are the paper copies.

I keep getting those too. No idea why.

I tried to catch up after returning from our most recent vacation, but after pages and pages I'm still 100 pages behind so I've given up lol

I'm anxiously awaiting August 1st to apply for my first business card (CIP). Today technically marks the date I'd be under 5/24. Here are my stats again:
CF 12/07
UPromise 12/12 (sockdrawered)
AmEx Blue Cash 8/14
TD Cash 8/16
CSP 7/17
CFU 4/18
Disney VISA 9/18
Disc It 9/18
BoA Cash 2/19

I've been reading here for any information that would be helpful before I apply. I noticed the rule of the Chase credit limits being under 50% of your income. I just calculated all of my Chase credit limits and I'm currently a little over 60%. Is it too late to reduce them when I plan on applying on 8/1?

If the card is accepted, I was wondering what my next step should be. I really was looking to get the CIC for the category bonus, but thanks to everyone here I realized the CIP has the better sign up bonus. On the other hand, I don't really want two AF cards (CSP and hopefully CIP). Should I close the CSP? Product change it? Or wait and then product change the CIP to a CIC?
It looks like your CSP is over a year old. If you are not interested in keeping both a CSP and a CIP, I think you can downgrade the CSP to a no fee card. You wouldn't be able to change your CIP for a year I believe.

You could PC the CSP to a CF in order to take advantage of the bonus 5x quarterly categories :) And then later apply for a CIC!

I would reduce your Chase CLs..you can easily do so via SM or phone.....to be safe you can wait the accounts with the reduced CLs close so the lower limits are shown on your credit report

For the CSP....you could either PC or close

Thank you, I will do that. I already have a CF, but I think I read that you can have more than one, correct?

When you say wait for them to close, do you mean for the statements to close? If that’s the case, I can reduce the ones that are set to close sooner.

While I know there’s always a chance for a denial, I’ve been so anxious to apply that I don’t want that to happen lol. I want to try to eliminate any issues before I apply to reduce that chance!

I'd tell you to watch thr original degrassi because what you watched was a reboot but I don't think it streams anywhere in the US. Was a CBC show that waa great and very cutting edge for the times. I grew up watching Snake, Joey etc go through high school.

She sought out being the voice of gg so I'm sure she'd want to do it again
Voiceover stuff like that doesn't take much.
Yeah snake was emma’s Dad and then the principal when I was watching. Drake was a big character too

Yes.. wait for the next statement to close showing the lower CL

I know, I watched some of them 😀 They just weren't as good to me because they were dealing with the same issues but it wasn't as "shocking" because it's stuff lots of other shows had covered at that point. In the late 80s early 90s they were dealong weekly with stuff you'd only see on after school specials like drugs, od, suicide, realistic teen pregnancy etc.

You can catch up on the highlights in the News & Discussion Thread on DISchurners. The old thread that went up to last week was archived recently, but can still be viewed by scrolling down. Thread 2 is up and running.

With all the SWGE fun I almost forgot to provide an update in the saga of DH’s Aviator Business card. He was approved, we went to use and it didn’t work. Called to find out security verification hold. Endless calls and escalation and no one could really tell him what he needed to provided let alone a working fax or email to send it to. Ended up getting an EIN (free and super easy), emailed that to the one address that didn’t bounce back. Fast forward nearly 2 months and he finally gets escalated high enough to be told they need articles of incorporation. Why they couldn’t tell him the million other times he called is beyond me. So we threw in the towel, told them to cancel card and they will mail a check for the $95 annual fee we paid for a card we could never use. And to top it off both DH and I have been Barclays card holders (for years the 2% Priceline cards were our daily spenders) for over 6 years. Worst banking experience ever.

Was thinking about trying for this card next, but your experience is stopping me in my tracks. :crazy2:

Barclays biz cards seem so YMMV. @bernina and @marsh0013 had their cards frozen with requests for business documentation, but others got the JetBlue and Aviator (AA) biz cards, met their MSRs and got their SUBs just fine without any of that mess. I think fortunately for @bernina and @marsh0013, neither of them put any or much spend on their cards before they were frozen.

If you don't mind the hard pull, it might be worth just trying for the card. The MSR is relatively low at only $1k and a purchase on an employee card for 75k AA miles. You might have no problems at all. If you do get a request for documentation, just request to close it right away instead of messing around with trying to get it reactivated. Since it's a biz card, it won't hit your credit report anyway and the only ding would be from the inquiry.

I'm a relative newbie to the world of Chase URs, and I’ve got a newbie question. When it comes to booking hotels with URs, I assume that some rates offered will be refundable and some will be non-refundable? Assuming refundable rates are available, if I have to cancel the hotel, do the URs just get refunded to my account? Is it all relatively pain-free? Any pitfalls to watch out for? Thanks!!

You might be better off transferring the points to a hotel partner-. Hyatt has great redemptions.

If you book a refundable rate...yes when canceling the URs go back into your account

P2 recently applied for CIP2 and got the 7-10 day message. Got letter in the mail today stating needing additional documents -
Proof of legal name for business - what would you recommend is sent for said "business"
Proof of physical address for business - utility bill, this is not a problem

Need suggestions for proof of legal name of "business"
