Are you finding points rooms available at Fairfield? I can’t find any for my dates next year.It looks like there is a 15% discount for the Grand Californian for my dates in September. It’s still so expensive. I’m so happy I bought DVC there lol. I think I narrowed it down to the DLH or the Fairfield.
I think that is very fair. When you mentioned it, $100 was what popped into my head. Thanks that makes me feel better. Don’t know if they bought the insurance, but they did book through VRBO.
Thanks so much! Very nice of you both to say. I ended up getting them a $100 visa gift card (bought it before I saw your comments @SouthFayetteFan) and gave it to them this afternoon. We don't normally stop in on our renters, but kind of unusual circumstances. They seemed very gracious.
I feel good about the decision. I don't think they expected anything, but I felt really bad that they were without power in a rental for that long.
No. You probably need to put spend on that card. Charge some utilities, groceries, gas, whatever. Then check again and see if the pop-up is gone. Amex likes you to spend on their cards. So can I try applying again, but not put my hilton honors on his application this time?
I may try for the Hilton biz, but the current offer isn’t on my account just the old one. I don’t know what will happen if I use a public link.
Do you already have the Hilton Card you were applying for your DH for?Well I guess I need a new direction for my next card then. I'm thinking I'll be applying for a CIC next. I would like the 5x at office stores since we need Disney gcs for the cruise we're hoping to go on. Do you guys think a CIC is a good next step for me or is there a better card for me to try?
I'm not sure if I would want any other Amex cards. Are there any worth getting? Our only travel plans for the future would be frequent trips to WDW and hopefully a Disney cruise. So maybe a card with a travel credit or travel erasure component? I currently have the Capital One Venture.I don't think it'll make a difference. Putting your HH number on his app isn't what caused the pop up. It's more likely DH's lack of consistent, ongoing, and ideally higher levels of spend than just Amex Offers on DH's one Amex card:
Like I said, @Albort has been testing a theory about the pop ups and a possible workaround. But even that won't get you the Hilton Biz tonight, so I wouldn't try submitting another app.
Is there another Amex card you might be interested in applying for?
If the Hilton Biz is it, then I'd suggest putting more spend on DH's one Amex card in the next month and try again for the Hilton Biz before the 130k Hilton points + FWN cert offer expires on 8/28/19.
In future, don't put your HH number on his applications! If DH doesn't have a HH number, Hilton will assign him one when the credit card passes through their system. It's really easy to transfer and pool Hilton points, so there's no need to hack it so DH's credit card SUB and earnings go to your HH account.
I have the Hilton Biz, but Dh does notDo you already have the Hilton Card you were applying for your DH for?
What Chase cards do you and your husband have currently?Well I guess I need a new direction for my next card then. I'm thinking I'll be applying for a CIC next. P1: MeWhat Chase cards do you and your husband have currently?
CIC seems like a good move. You don’t have a lot of ability to “self-support”. Your only option at this point would be to do another SW card. CIC seems like a reasonable choice. CIU is always an option too at some point. Did you ever get a Sapphire card in your name or do a MDD for both (that also seems like an option).P1: Me

was able to coordinate with another single player, and just app'd for my CIP, at 30 days, wish me luck! as well as luck for my partner who will be using my link soon! I'm all for a spot on dischurners to coordinate support clicks between single players!
1. Yes that's correct- the goal is JAL for a couple of reasons.1. I think you decided to fly with JAL, which means you'll need AA miles to book partner awards. That means you'll need another Citi AA. And because you probably don't want to wreck your 5/24 status early in the game, you should keep to Citi AA Biz cards.
2. However, you need to wait about 95 days between your Citi AA Biz applications.
3. Getting P2 on the GrAAvy train by having him apply for the same Citi AA Biz offer you applied for -- P2 would earn the SUB and miles on spend, but unfortunately I don't think there's a way to combine your AA miles and P2's AA miles, which may make booking more complicated. I'll defer to @DisneyMandC and @SouthFayetteFan on this point.
4. Before you finish your Citi AA Biz MSR, you should have your next card lined up so you're not caught without a MSR to be working on.
5. You could refer P2 to the CIP. That'll get you 20k UR support points and line him up for a 80k UR SUB. Unlike AA miles, UR points are easily combined within the same household.
6. If JAL doesn't work out, you could have UR points in reserve to transfer to VS and then redeem for ANA partner awards.
7. If you don't end up booking with ANA, those UR points are still useful for booking hotels through the Chase portal or transferring to a partner with a good redemption rate like Hyatt.
8. Once P2 has a CIP, he can refer you to CIP2 as long as the CIPpy cup keeps flowing.
9. If P2 doesn't get approved for either, you could decide if self-referral from your CIP1 to CIP2 is worth the 20k UR for you. With the recent clawbacks by Amex (not Chase) of self-referral bonuses, people are a bit on edge about self-referrals and whether Chase could do something similar (or shut down accounts). It's always better to refer from P1>P2>P1 and so on than P1>P1. If your P2 can't get the CIP and can't refer you, we've had some discussion about setting up a DISchurners thread for single players to pair up and support each other.
I wonder if you're open to MS (manufactured spending) or have MS available to you to increase your spend (and therefore shorten the time it takes for you to hit MSR), but not actually increase your out of pocket expenses.
So, Chase removed me as AU on dh's CSR. Yay! That brings me under 5/24. My question is, when should I apply for the CIP? I have been declined for this card at least twice already, not within 30 days though. (It's my Elenor - see Gone in Sixty Seconds for this to make sense).
I'm eyeing the 80k bonus because I need to come up with as many UR points as possible, which I'll then transfer to UAL miles to get my return ticket NRT to EWR in April. I already got my tickets from EWR to NRT, saver tickets, 70k one way for 4 people business class. I'll just redeposit miles if I can't get what I want but it is looking decent if I can close the deal before 6 months prior to departure. Summer seemed impossible so we moved the trip to spring break (April).
So, here is where I stand. Any thoughts on what to do next and when?

Yes. The 5 Amex credit card limit is for personal and business cards.

ETA: If you need more AA miles have you considered the Barclays Business Aviator?
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/barclays-business-aviator-bonus-now-75000-miles/It's a business card, so it won't affect your 5/24 status. The offer is 65k AA miles after a relatively low $1k MSR, and another 10k AA miles when you make a purchase on an employee (P2) card. I will caution that some of us on this thread got approved for this card, got the card in hand and started spending on it, only to have Barclays deactivate it and ask for business documentation. So this is kind of hit or miss.
Yeah I don’t have any need for another SW card. The only reason we got that in the first place was for Japan so we could have the two checked bags. We never fly SW otherwise.CIC seems like a good move. You don’t have a lot of ability to “self-support”. Your only option at this point would be to do another SW card.
