Ignoring the annoying AMEX popup, Dh and I ended up booking the Dolphin 8/16-8/17 for the SWGE preview! We booked a King room on Orbitz because Dh had $38 in Orbitz bucks. The price before was showing as $198 and after it went all the way down to $122 and took off the resort fee for some reason. I'm wondering if they'll end up charging it to us when we get there? Either way I'm super excited!!! We've never stayed at the Swolphin so it'll be a fun first experience. Dh has to work Friday so we'll probably get there around 5-5:30 pm. What places are good to eat at the Swolphin for dinner (qs or ts)?

I enjoyed the early dinner I had at Cabana Bar and Beach Club. Several places offer AAA discount if you happen to have that and declining housekeeping will get you $5 food vouchers, too.

They have to have a standard room available to use a cert. Do you have a standard room points option? That's usually the easiest way to see if your cert will work. If not, and you think they have a standard room available for cash, you can try calling to book through their no blackout "guarantee". ( No actual guarantee you won't still get bonvoyed, but won't know until you try)

thanks I'll check it out------ETA------ So this hotel is techically a timeshare resort(?) but the site shows a standard room to check in..... does this mean b/c it's a timeshare it doesn't take regular free night certs? that's odd, considering it's cheaper oop per night and lower in category than some of the others I'm looking at..... but the location is convenient

Okay I need some help. I think we've decided we'll be booking at the Dolphin since we can get it for $132.78/night. I'm super confused by the different room categories so if anyone would like to help me that would be great!

Should I just book the cheapest one? Whatever inner means lol. I wish they had a King room, but they don't on this website. Also, when I get to the checkout it shows taxes, but no resort fee. I'm wondering if that will be tacked on later or if it doesn't get charged on Ticketsatwork.com?

I love the Dolphin....I've always booked the cheapest on points,and ask nicely if theres a room with a view at checkin...10 times out of 10 they've given us a nice view...once we even got this awesome huge corner room with views of everywhere!

In my slow churning world I was able to get a $50 VGC for FREE (didn't even have to pay the purchase fee) from Speedway for earning enough points through them just for basically purchasing gas.

And my JB personal card just closed for this statement and I see my points pending. Going to be looking at flights for Cali and Vegas.

I also picked up a couple $200 MCGC from Staples with my CIC and DD got her new iPad for college.

And finally I used the last of my HH points with a stay at a Tru by Hilton for a family reunion. This was in Albany NY. Was nice having a cool modern hotel to go back to and get away from some fam

Picabu is great for 24 hour cafeteria style food (AAA discount too) Fountain is good.... there are multiple great places to eat at Swolphin or walking around the boardwalk....(oh I miss that place)

DH had a voicemail when he checked his phone this morning. Cap1 lifted the hold on his new venture card so he is ready to go! And I’m ready to put that on his Plastiq account! Such a relief to have that over with.

Now I have to refigure out which cards he needs to use where. He’s been using his Amex Plat for “everything else” because up until this point he hasn’t had a good 2x on everything card yet. But I have to keep Amex happy so he can get more cards from them. I am planning to PC that plat to something else but haven’t researched yet. If we PC to gold will that prevent him from getting a SUB later?

Same! I was able to get $60 in sb today. 1 order I used P2’s HHBiz to top off his MSR. We reached the MSR requirement yesterday but should get $10 back on the Staples offer, so this should really make it official.

This happened with couponing - as soon as the TV shows, spots on Good Morning America began, the whole thing changed and was ruined. A few people looking for their 15 min of fame ruined a really good thing. The churning hobby definitely doesn’t need to be broadcast and spoon fed.

Couponing totally saved us when dh changed careers 18 years ago! We would have had a rough 3 years otherwise.

If I book a flight with American Airlines through the Chase portal as first class and the flight has a change over at 1 stop does the first class stay all the way through or is it only for one leg of the flight? I'm not seeing anywhere it says one way or the other on the Chase portal when I pretend to book flights.

I am not an expert on this and have never booked first class, but I believe you have to check that it is showing you first class on each leg of the flight.
