Thanks that makes me feel better. Don’t know if they bought the insurance, but they did book through VRBO.What a tough situation! I'm glad to hear your house wasn't damaged. It's nice of you to try and compensate them but I'm sure they realize it wasn't your fault. I've rented my place through VRBO and I know there was an option for the guest to buy insurance of some sort. Do you know if they purchased anything like that?
I don't think I would expect anything from you as compensation. They know they aren't staying in Disney World!
I think the fact that you are considering all of this speaks volumes to your character as a business owner! If your renter this week is at all reasonable they’d be ecstatic at any of these options. For some reason my mind is stuck between the $100 and $500. Meaning that $500 seems like too much - but maybe $200 would be very awesome but not over the top. But what do I know anyways - it’s your property! Lol!!
EDIT: for what it’s worth, I don’t like the discount to come back idea. For some reason those always rub me the wrong way (but that might just be me...)
Thanks so much! Very nice of you both to say. I ended up getting them a $100 visa gift card (bought it before I saw your comments @SouthFayetteFan) and gave it to them this afternoon. We don't normally stop in on our renters, but kind of unusual circumstances. They seemed very gracious.Agree with this 100% especially the character part!!
I feel good about the decision. I don't think they expected anything, but I felt really bad that they were without power in a rental for that long.
