So the power came back on - it was out for about 24 hours. Still trying to decide what we should do for the renters, they are there until Saturday. Should we get them a gift card to somewhere (thinking $100)? Maybe a Visa Gift Card? Would that be enough? Should we refund a night ($500)? Offer a discount if they come back next year? As a renter what would your expectations be in a case like this?
What a tough situation! I'm glad to hear your house wasn't damaged. It's nice of you to try and compensate them but I'm sure they realize it wasn't your fault. I've rented my place through VRBO and I know there was an option for the guest to buy insurance of some sort. Do you know if they purchased anything like that?
I don't think I would expect anything from you as compensation. They know they aren't staying in Disney World!

CHEEEEHOOOOOOOOOOO!

I made $12.50 today between bonuses and referral sbs! Between the 3 cards we are working on MSR on, I have knocked out $566 for them. Need to pick up a Visa for extra points and start using that... :scratchin

Well, I've done $40 on each account so far. If I can do $80 on each I will make $12.50... :D
After buying 8000 yesterday, my 2nd goal jumped from 270 to 970. Just bought my first 2000 today, made 87 bonus! I'm having fun and knocking our more spend on Dh's CIP2!
DHs went from 1300s last week to 1900s the last two days and to 3100s today :scared: But I don't often bother with the meeting goals/streaks anymore because it tends to be too much work for my time invested. I used to do more SB at work but haven't had as much time the last year.

I signed up for a free online account and ordered some gift cards this morning... but no emails from BJ's. Should I be worried?

Hilton business now showing up as 130k + Free Night Certificate via referral.

So for those who listened to me and @Lain and were patient ;), I’d grab this card now for sure P1–>P2 or find a partner to swap referrals.

Preemptively answers:
-Is AMEX hard to get a business card for if I only have a “business”?
If you have a pulse, you should be fine.
-Does this do a hard pull?
If you’re in this game, who cares about pulls. But no, if you have an existing AMEX, then it will most likely not do a hard pull.

I'd like to do this, but I'm not sure if Dh could get the Hilton Biz right now. He just got his CIP3 less than a month ago. Would it be better for him to wait a bit?

Do it. CIP is completely independent of AMEX.

And this is an AMEX biz- so if you have an amex already, you won’t even get a pull. And because it’s a biz, it won’t even show up on a credit report. It, quite literally, costs nothing.

The only worry would be hitting MSR. If that’s an issue, wait closer to 8/28 (expiration).

I was planning on going for a CIC next. Do you think I should do that or have Dh go for the Hilton Biz?

So you just cash them out to PayPal?

I do because it's easiest. SB has $25, $50, $100, and $250 PayPal "gift cards." So when buying SBs, you do have to buy enough to cash out using one or a combination of these denominations. They're valued at 100 SB for $1. You redeem, verify your information, and SB deposits the amount into your PayPal account a few days later, move it to your bank.

You can redeem SB for slight discounts on Visa eGCs. I see a $25 is on sale for 2,175 SB (13% off). I wonder if you can roll the eVGC back into buying more SB? And better discounts on third-party GCs.

Can you hit spend on both? If so, do both.
If not, do Hilton Biz.

All time highs (by a decent margin) don’t come around all the time.

CIC will Be there in 2 months, this won’t.
I think Dh and I want to slow down on our cards a bit so we're only doing one MSR at a time. We currently still need to finish the MSR on his CIP3, but we are getting close. The main reason I was looking at doing the CIC instead was because we want to do a Disney cruise and it would be nice to have the 5x at office stores for gift cards.

For the single players out there without a P2 to support you, but are interested in applying for the Hilton Biz (or any other Amex card) AND a support bonus, would you be interested if we set up a thread on DISchurners to pair up and exchange support clicks?

Sorry if this has been answered... Is it recommend to file a claim for the Equifax data breach? I can get them to pay for 10 years of monitoring?

Any CIP close to an anniversary where you can downgrade? That’d be the easiest/best of both worlds if timelines can match up.

Another thought is getting an amex Simply Cash Back Business as well for 5x back from office stores.

Either decision is fine. Personally, I’d go for Hilton. But if you aren’t planning on being at a Hilton in the next year, then I wouldn’t.

There is a comment on DOC from someone who did this... I used to cash out for some Visa eGCs but stopped as I can usually do better than the 1-2% off that they are. Have you redeemed for your one discounted GC for the month? Paypal doesn't count for that... VGCs do so they will show as 12% for the once a month discount plus 1% for the normal discount = 13%

Do it lol!! I’ll trade you my VGC contract for all of yours lol :rotfl2:

As much as I don’t look forward to paying annual dues on all of my contracts, I’ll keep them. Seriously, if I can make the 7 month window and FN certs work then I’ll hold off.

@calypso726 - you can’t fangirl at your mentions when you’re the one that everybody is “fangirling” over in the first place!! LOL! :lmao:

Yes I can, watch.

OMG - @SouthFayetteFan mentioned me! SQUEEE!

Do you mind sharing what is a “great” price or even a decent target price? DH wants to do Hawai’i next year. I have read a lot lately on flights but still seem soooo lost. It is hard to know where to even begin. I have the hotels covered.
Hi! I believe the cash price was $825-$850/pp for direct flights from Boston that included seat assignments and carry on luggage (checked is additional). You may do better if you are not trying to fly around school holidays.

Everything else I was finding ridiculous 24-hr flights with 10hr overnight layovers, and/or options where seat assignments would cost our family of 4 another $800-$1000. I wasn't having luck using miles either - the reasonable flight schedules (no 10hr layovers) were SO many miles.

Can you tell we usually fly SW? I much prefer their "your fare is your fare" pricing to all the ridiculous fees other airlines charge.
