I’m looking to PC a newly 1 year old CIP (fee should post Aug 1) to a CIC. Can I still get the bonus on another CIC later if I do?

Honestly not sure maybe someone else knows....the advice use to be that you would have to either cancel the CIC or PC it prior to applying for a new CIC and get the bonus...

But maybe the CIC now works like the CIP and you can have an open one and apply for another :confused3

I just happened to be in my email when I got it... why am I torturing myself? I'm not even a giant star wars fan???
This. 100%. I finally decided I only have a certain amount of travel funds and SWL is not something I super want to spend them on not even being a SW fan. The excitement of an AP Preview almost drew me in though! Maybe I'll get a shot at an AP preview for something later this year that I'm actually excited about or I'll do the Halloween trip the back of my mind has been putting together. But on SWGE preview I shall pass.

I have caught up!! YAY!

Question, I have the Plastiq promo and would like to use it for tuition. It says it needs to be used by the end of the month. Does that mean I just need to schedule it? Because it seems like it took more than a week to get my other payments out. I haven't used it since last summer though, so maybe I am wrong.

2nd Plastiq/CIP question, I want to pay a $6100 bill and my CIP limit is $6000. Can I move some credit around? I just closed CIP1 a couple weeks ago but I have $3000 on CIC. Should I just ask to move $1000 over? I feel like I have been here long enough to know these things, lol, but just want to double check.

The payment just has to be processed by July 31, so you should be able to get payments in until possibly July 31, but at least until July 30 as long as you choose the closest date available on the “delivered by” date. There’s a way to check your processed date to make sure. When checking out click on the blue delivered by date and it should tell you the process date.

We still have that tentative trip LD weekend... because our APs expire then. I'm almost tempted to either cancel that or make it purely LD weekend/no vacation days, and do just a weekend for this AP preview and then skip DHS LD weekend and the opening craziness (unless I can meet @calypso726 :worship: lol)... I was already thinking of shortening LD weekend if we are going to do HHN/Uni and just letting those passes go (they expire 9/5). Main difference in cost then is SW points... hmmm. (but DH has earned 65k RRs from work travel and we can fly for under 20k RRS with CP so I'm a little more fast and loose with the RRs)

Yes, you can SM Chase to move the credit funds. I did that for DH’s CIP.

So the power came back on - it was out for about 24 hours. Still trying to decide what we should do for the renters, they are there until Saturday. Should we get them a gift card to somewhere (thinking $100)? Maybe a Visa Gift Card? Would that be enough? Should we refund a night ($500)? Offer a discount if they come back next year? As a renter what would your expectations be in a case like this?
I think the fact that you are considering all of this speaks volumes to your character as a business owner! If your renter this week is at all reasonable they’d be ecstatic at any of these options. For some reason my mind is stuck between the $100 and $500. Meaning that $500 seems like too much - but maybe $200 would be very awesome but not over the top. But what do I know anyways - it’s your property! Lol!!

EDIT: for what it’s worth, I don’t like the discount to come back idea. For some reason those always rub me the wrong way (but that might just be me...)

I don't know what to do and figured I'd see if anybody had opinions or insight. I know I should probably ask on the SW:GE or regular planning board, but I think you guys are easier to talk to.

Since they took so long to announce the SW:GE previews, we had pretty much given up. My husband works retail and has to put in his days off requests at least 4 weeks out. Knowing this, we decided he should request Labor Day weekend off, because maybe we could do a long weekend as I don't have PTO to use. By some miracle, it was approved. His store is closed Sunday's (thank you Bergen County NJ blue laws). We haven't booked anything yet.

And today, I was able to sign us up for a preview. We can't do both. Our options are:

Option 1- Fly in late Friday aug 16, SW:GE preview Sat aug 17 at 9am-1pm. Fly home late afternoon sun aug 18. My husband would have to ask if he could have Saturday off (and possibly leave early Friday depending on the hours they schedule him) and this might cause an issue for him at work. Swan 32,000 AA miles.

Option 2- Fly in late fri aug 30 (he has off fri but I don't). Early morning extra extra magic hours Sunday at DHS, which is the first day of EEMH. And possibly try EEMH at DHS again Monday. Flight home late Monday afternoon. My husband already has off fri, sat, and mon. Swan 71,500 AA miles.

Total cost of flights is about the same for both options right now. Would use UR with CSR to book Jetblue/United. The AA miles I don't really care that it's more per night on option 2 (and obviously more total due to an extra night).

So obviously it's easier for our schedule/work to do Labor Day weekend. And it gives us an extra day of park time. But with SW:GE opening Aug 29, I'm concerned that it'll be a madhouse that weekend.

The prospect of the preview being so much less crowded is very appealing. But it's 1 less total day. And probable work hassle for my husband. I guess I know the right choice, maybe I'm just hoping for some reassurance? Ah, I don't know. I wish we could do both, but we can't.

We will be back in November for 1.5 weeks, but literally right after the EEMH hours end.

I signed up for a free online account and ordered some gift cards this morning... but no emails from BJ's. Should I be worried?

I ordered this morning also and haven't received my confirmation email. I keep checking my account on BJ's site and the order just says "processing" so I guess we'll see.

Agree with this 100% especially the character part!!

Any CIP close to an anniversary where you can downgrade? That’d be the easiest/best of both worlds if timelines can match up.

Another thought is getting an amex Simply Cash Back Business as well for 5x back from office stores.

Either decision is fine. Personally, I’d go for Hilton. But if you aren’t planning on being at a Hilton in the next year, then I wouldn’t.
I thought Simply Cash was discontinued when the BBC was launched? Or was that just a glitch?

Does he have another AMEX? If so, then it won’t affect his credit at all. No hard pull and the card won’t show up on his credit report.
@Haley R , this ^ is worth the shot. Hubby calls AmEx Biz cards the stealth cards - no HP and doesn't report so no one knows it exists. Only reason he was willing to open the BBP after he saw how the Hilton Biz went and didn't disrupt his score. Very rare for AmEx to HP on an existing customer.

Offer goes until 8/28 so you could take a couple days to decide. You both still have Hilton cards, right? Just make sure to cross refer if you decide to do it.

Ah, see, we are big Star Wars fans! I'm having issues deciding what to do! Did you sign up for a preview?

Yikes, I just priced DS’s 8th grade books and it’s almost $500 for all of his subjects, assuming I got his math and Spanish correct since I haven’t received his schedule yet. That will help with DH’s Hilton Biz MSR.

That's what private school will get you - uniform costs, books... its all geared to a different audience than public school!

I remember a colleague who had just moved to the area and had decided to live right downtown near our office and put her kid in a private elementary school. She was up in arms about how long her kid's private school Christmas break was - I think they got 3 weeks. She was complaining about trying to find kid care, saying it was crazy that schools around here have such a long break. When I told her that public schools get about a week or so, but private schools give kids longer because they assume their families will want to travel around the holidays, she was really cranky. The long winter break was always bittersweet for me - it was a busy time at work for me, and hard for me to take much more than a week off, but my daughter enjoyed going skiing with her grandparents while I worked :).
