Tried the Uber bank credit trick for the first time, but it didn't work. Was really nervous about it, lol. Think I canceled too fast. First time I canceled right away. Second time, I tried to wait a little longer, but got paired with a driver. So canceled right after I saw that, but think it was less than a minute after requesting the ride. Probably should have tried Pool. Don't want to make Uber mad with too many cancellations, so guess I'll use it for Uber Eats and try again next month.

im told it doesnt work with pool. u should get the warning that u will be charged for cancellation but it shouldnt charge u. im also told it may take several times though, also see some ppl say its not working either...

I dont have an amex plat yet, so i cant say much. all are things ive read.

I think we're going to do a quick trip to USO the weekend before Christmas! We have SW GCs and vouchers (and the tail end of DH's companion pass) to get us there, I have the URs to book onsite, and can probably swing some more to cover our park tix! A couple questions for the hive mind:

1) If I book a refundable rate with URs, then cancel, the URs will come back to my account, right? How long does that usually take?
2) If I use URs for multi-day tickets, will I be able to upgrade one of those to an AP? Looks like the tix they have up now are all expiring in mid-December of 2019, so I will need to wait until after July 31 and hope that they are still running something like the buy 2 days get 5 days deal.

I mentioned that we had gotten vouchers after our last SW flight and DH immediately said "where are we going next?" I brought up going to DC (super cheap hotel rooms that time of the year, and its a good "indoor" getaway) and he asked about going somewhere warm. I had actually researched USO first, but dismissed it because I thought he would find it too crowded that weekend. I was wrong, warm and crowded sounds better to him than cold and quiet, so it looks like another USO trip is in the cards...

Wow I’ll have to try. The problem for us is we live an hour away so it would have to be an evening time but I’ll keep it in mind for future trips. I took a screen shot of it

ETA: so it’s a little after 2:31 and I’ve seen tons of times for SDD! How have I not known about this before?!

It's kept on the dl so the times don't change. It's why when we talked about it almost 2 months ago we put the links on the reddit so we could point to it.

@bernina and @mmmears were having problems with the Uber credit cancel trick last month. I tried looking into it, but I was surprised at not finding other negative DPs about it.

Interesting tidbit: I submitted the status match for Choice Privileges on 7/1. I sent them a screenshot of my Marriott status showing gold and they said they needed something showing my last name. Well, I couldn't find anyway to get Marriott to show my last name too on the website, so I just screenshotted my Hilton card showing gold status and sent that to them. I assumed I would just get Choice Gold status, which isn't worth much, but would at least get me 10% bonus points on each stay. Well, they ended up matching me to Platinum, which is the highest they can status match too! Still doesn't get me much... lol, but I do get 25% bonus points on each stay, which I appreciate. And Avid Preferred Plus status, which we use Hertz but whatever. I'm matched through December 2020 now. We have two upcoming paid Choice stays so this is a decent value for us.

For those that were lucky enough to get the deeply discounted ultimate beverage package for your RCCL, just saw that they will be honoring it. Their response was actually pretty good.

Awesome sauce! I’ll take it since I think it’s ridiculous that they force everyone to buy the Deluxe package in the room. They are still making plenty of $ on all of the other things that are upcharged.

Same here. I’ll drink at most 1 or 2 alcoholic beverages the entire cruise but since it covers almost everything else (except Starbucks) we should make out ahead between my smoothies and virgin drinks, soda, bottled water, DH’s alcoholic drinks, and fresh juice. Plus it includes gratuities.

for a staycation. I'm also considering the Gaylord out by the airport. It looks pretty neat and it is a cat 5.
Looking into this now... I feel like I could use a staycation :rotfl:
I look at it weekly....unfortunately got in the habit if doing so after we found out my DHs brother...well really his wife used my MILs SS number to consign her daughters student loans....since she is in assisted and has us paying her bills we then put a freeze on her credit....this happened 2 years ago and she would not file identity theft charges against them.....we will see what happens in November when the loans have to start being repaid...then her choices will be to file charges or move in with them if they garnish her pension etc
Ughhh. Terrible. Similar to why I tend to check my credit karma a few times a month though...

YNAB peeps, is Amex working for you? The connection is fine but new transactions from the last 5 or so days aren’t importing. I’m working on MSR so there have been quite a few posted transactions.

It has been in and out for the last few weeks, but better for me over the past few days. One thing is that when Amex changes the names of the cards (or when you add or pc a card) it seems to mess up the connection. I've had to delete the connection and then re-link each of my (several) Amex cards to get the import to work properly again. Good luck!

we found a bump on the tire on our 3rd day. Google says not to drive on it too much but we were in Yellowstone at that point. was a 6 hour drive back. We decided to wing it back because Audi roadside would of taken 2 hours to get to us in West Yellowstone, and we werent about to drive 50mph(donut spare) on a 80mph highway. we made it back safely though but it was quite a nerve racking drive.
We were def glad to have stayed in park lodging. we actually went to the grand canyon twice because the first day we went, it was cloudy. for some reasons, morning was always sunny and the canyon was so much prettier with sunlight. we also caught the first burst of Old Faithful, had plenty of room to move around... we walked up to the upper basin afterwards, we came back just in time for another burst and wow, sooooo muuuuuch pppppl! glad we were so close! Wildlife, we just missed seeing wolves, but saw everything else... was hoping for a Bison to just stop in the road but that didnt happen :( lol
Glad the tire held out. Kinda hard not to drive in Yellowstone with everything so far apart.

It is pretty cool to have some of the sights all to yourself. My DD and I walked the boardwalk around Old Faithful area first thing one morning and only saw 1 or 2 people. So calm.
