Looks like Citi chat is denying matches with boilerplate language now:
I actually don’t place a lot of stock in this one. I’ve seen people get a response like that before. I bet if he/she asked again, they’d get a different response... There is a group of people on r/churning trying to spread the “match is dead” gospel too - this could be part of that.

Hi everyone! SouthFayetteFan threw me a curveball in my search for the best option in trying to maximize my rewards / SUB for an upcoming Dec trip to Italy.
Because we're tied to a specific itinerary on AA, he suggested one of the AA co-branded cards as a possibility. Would one of the Citi or Barclay's cards make sense?
I don't think AA allows a combination of cash + miles on award flights, so that further limits my options.

Well - I think we should be cautious with 5/24 status here. No reason to burn multiple slots on personal cards when the same can be achieved with biz cards.

@cajunmommy - if you want some specific help on this one; I’d share your dates/flight preferences, travel party specifics, and what kind of miles you need to make it work. Do you have any AA miles currently. I think we have some folks here who understand AA miles pretty well and can tell you if you have time to wait or need to forego miles since your trip is less than 7 months away.

@Lain - @calypso726 - any change this is an area you guys can help with?

Sadly, I know nothing of AA or travel to Italy.

Tried to use the AmEx offer for 76 gas stations. But charge is showing up as National Petroleum. :( Guessing it probably won't credit. Is this a common issue with gas stations? Anyone have luck chatting with AmEx to get the credit?

When we opened our AA business cards last month I asked for a match to 60k on both cards
Received a denial letter on both about 10 days later
Asked again...DH received a letter adding 20k points to his account...I still have. It heard back, statement closed with no additional points in. my account.....not sure if I should try again or let it go

3 members in our travel party - to Italy mid-December. 52,500mi/tix needed. There is a hangup in that I'm only seeing 1 award flight available for our preferred inbound leg. I can see 3 if we choose a much later arrival.
The tight timeline, specific intinerary, and restrictive redemptions are why I didn't originally include AA miles as part of my SUB/rewards pursuit., but I'm willing to at least consider. The Barclay @Albort mentioned did pop up on my radar as an option because of the easy SUB.
No AA miles in the bank at this time.

I think @calypso726 is still in NOLA. We could've discussed over beignets or snoballs!

Hi Churner Peeps!

I’m back from NOLA. Those beignets were more like diabetes on a plate. Holy powdered sugar Batman!

Unfortunately finding award availability is best at about 331 days out. If you have a P2 that can participate, I’d advise the Barclay cards since they are the easiest SUB. Then, go for the Citi cards if you still need more points. Sometimes you need to be flexible when it comes to award flights. Keep in mind that the 3 flights you see now may not be available when you have the points in place. You might also try searching nearby airports. I have been known to take a positioning flight to get to a specific airport to catch a specific plane for a specific award flight. This may or may not be worth exploring depending on your circumstances. I’d have no problem taking a $58 flight on Silver Air from FLL to MCO if it meant I would be able to secure an award flight could would save me hundreds or thousands out of pocket t get to my destination. Hope this helps.

Another little “new DIS” nugget:
Just found a fun new feature since the upgrade - on the thread listing on a forum if you click on the small circle that shows your icon if you have posted in a thread, if you click on it it shows you how many times you have posted in that thread ...

Apparently I’ve made over 2,200 comments in this thread.
