Thank you! Show digital card or scan?I recall last year at renewal showing picture ID and the DVC ID.
I just activated my Sorcerer’s pass last month. Unlike prior years when I had to go to guest services to activate it & show ID & DVC membership proof, last month I didn’t have to do any of that. I bought it on the phone w/ MS a couple of months before we arrived & asked the CM about activation & she said I didn’t need to, so I just went to my first park & used my MB at the turnstile.Hi - long story short as possible my DVC account was coded DVC Y when it should have been DVC ND. While it was DVC Y I was eligible for and purchased the sorcerer pass. I have not activated it yet.
Do they ask for your DVC card when you activate or just your ID?
We have not had to show ID at park entrance either for initial activation or after renewal. We simply tapped in at a park. The ‘ID’ for eligibility should have been done by the GS person before they sold you the sorcerersmine definitely says “not valid for park entry - show ID at ticket window to activate”
We’ve never had anything like that on our passes, and we’ve never had to show ID to activate. We buy them every other year (no renewals). I suspect that the system knows or at least suspects you’re not actually dvc Y and has blocked you from entering unless you prove otherwise. We have been very tempted to book the Florida resident hotel rates at universal because they are amazing. Of course, we’re not Florida residents lol, but it was going to let me book the rates. How likely was it that they would really ID me? I don’t know, but since we would have to show ID to stay at the hotel, I just booked the regular rate. So I think sometimes almost anyone can book a rate but that a person will verify when the computer can’t.mine definitely says “not valid for park entry - show ID at ticket window to activate”
Yes this was my experience.I vaguely recall that it depends on how you buy it. I think if you call Member Services, it does not require activation---because MS will verify your eligibility at the time of purchase. I think if you buy it from WDW Ticketing, it does require activation.
OP: If you do not currently have a digiital DVC-Y membership card, you should assume you won't be able to activate it as is, but you never know if you get pixie-dusted.
Do you remember how the proof of DVC-Y worked? Like just pull up the digital card and flip to show?Yes this was my experience.
We purchased a Sorcerer Pass in Feb 2024 by making a call to DVC Member Services (we were upgrading multi-day tickets). Those APs worked at the park tapstyle Day 1.
We bought another Sorcerer Pass in Oct 2025 online through the WDW site. It needed to be activated at guest services before we could tap into the parks. Guest Services required proof of DVC-Y and ID.
