We went for my brother’s senior trip. Him and some of his friends went with some random guy to his house and let’s just say they came back not quite aware of their surroundings. That’s definitely bad judgment on their part but it was a guy sitting outside our hotel. While walking along the beach there were tons of stands with people heckling you to buy things and there were even cars parked in the trees. It was just super sketchy

We went to Sandals Negril for our honeymoon. There was a guy in a boat that kept waving to us and I just waved back since I am from the South and we are friendly like that. Found out he was selling stuff we didn't really want to purchase! We also took a walk on the beach outside of the resort and the guards wrote down what we were wearing. I was alittle freaked out by that. We had a great trip, but haven't ventured back in 25 years.

They didn't put down which resort Not a super helpful save the date lol. They had previously told my mom they were going to do a reception at home later, so I'm just going to have to do that I think and I'll give a generous gift. It looks like it would probably cost me (without DH) $1000 plus to take a 3 day vacation I don't want to go on lol. I have no idea how they chose Jamaica. I know they've been to the Bahamas together before, but never Jamaica.

Honestly probably one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve been to was in Negril, Jamaica.

Any time you search for SW flights from RIC to Montego Bay, it says there are no flights scheduled. It doesn't even give you an option to do something like fly to Atlanta and then connect, it just says the route isn't available.

Thats what happens when I try to look at Nashville-Hawaii flights.

We've been to Jamaica twice on DCL and it it super sketchy. They repeatedly tell you not to go outside the secure port area unless you are on an official excursion. I'm not normally one to pay for DCL excursions, but there I definitely do. I have read some really awful stories in the news about Jamaica too. It is unfortunate, because it is such a beautiful country with the beaches and mountains. We did a date day excursion once and left the kids on the ship. We did bobsleds, ziplining, and chair lift. It was a great day! I wouldn't go back and do a resort though after the stories I've seen in the news. But then again, I won't go to Mexico either, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Hi, new here. I've been lurking for a little bit and decided I would join the fun. I'm looking at getting a new card and think I have settled on the a Saphire. Trying to decide between CSR and CSP.
I currently have IHG- 4/18 and Freedom Unlimited 5/15. Each card has a 5000 credit limit. Should I reduce the limit before applying for a new card? Im currently 23. I also thought about Hilton Ascend, but saw they decreased the opening bonus.

• What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)? Depends on the month. No less then 600-700. but could put more on for MSR.
• Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest? Every month
• What airport(s) do you typically fly out of? FLL or MCO
• Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program? JetBlue or SW
• Does SOUTHWEST service your airport? Yes

I would not attempt that.

See that’s funny because I’ve been to Mexico twice and never felt unsafe. We always were in Cancun. My parents used to go every year but started going to gulf shores instead

Unfortunately, SW is only good from RIC for flying to ATL and MCO. If I fly to FLL, I have to connect through ATL. Jetblue is better service for us for flying south, generally. Which is why I think I'm one of the only people in this group who doesn't have a Southwest CC and still doesn't know what a companion pass is haha.

For some unknown reason, I really really wanted our flight to Costa Rica to be out of RIC - even though we were flying back into BWI. So we cobbled together 2 flights on SW. We flew to FLL (via ATL) on an evening flight. Spent the night near the FLL airport. Then direct to Costa Rica the next morning.

In hindsight, I should have just flown from BWI. The overnight at FLL took too much time.

You might just have to hoof it up to NOVA . . .

Perhaps but that would be unrelated. The issue was that instead of moving up the statement close date, Chase skipped a cycle and gave an extra long statement cycle. I actually had that happen to me once in the past too but I wasn’t trying to alter a bonus posting date so it didn’t impact me.

They used to run a great direct flight down to MCO daily several years ago. That's actually what DH and I fly for our honeymoon. They're bringing back direct MCO flights this August, but they're only available on Saturdays. It actually works perfectly for our September WDW trip, but otherwise Jetblue is still our best flight/points option.

Just down the beach is Eduardo’s Beach Shack. I had every intention of checking this place out and saw some amazing fruit bowls from there around the pool. This was the trip that Tinkerbell dumped her pixie dust on us and we got an amazing upgrade to the Governor’s suite. We ended up getting club level and free food and didn’t leave for the fruit.

Ok, here's my what would you do...I've had the AmEx Delta Gold personal for about 4 years. Since we fly delta often, its been good to have for when we are all traveling and the free bags. I just got off chat with an AmEx rep who said I can only product change it within the Delta personal cards since its a co-branded one. The Delta Blue has no AF and really no benefit as the benefits of the Platinum outweigh the benefits of the Blue. Would you just product change it to the Blue so that I don't have to cancel a card with AmEx?

I guess what I would do would depend on what other Amex cards I have. You can only have 5 Amex credit cards at once. Charge cards are unlimited. This is across the board business/personal. If they are credit cards only 5. So if you have only one or 2 other credit cards I would just product change and keep Amex happy. (And throw some dining charges on your Blue every once in a while to make them even happier). If you are getting close to 5 credit cards I might just bite the bullet and try cancelling.

I am in a similar situation with both myself and DH. He only has 3 credit cards; so I am going to product change his personal Delta Plat to the Blue (it is also his oldest Amex so I don’t want to cancel). For myself, once I get the BBP pretty soon I will be at my 5 credit card limit. At that point there are still other cards I might want (hello Hilton!) and I will have to cancel one and take my chances with the pop up.

On Jamaica...DH and I are both hyper sensitive given our jobs but we thought it was an absolute hole. Pretty countryside but I would not go there again. Of course we are also on the “closest we will get to Mexico is World Showcase” train.

I didn’t feel the least bit unsafe in Mexico either but oh man, there have been a ton of news stories out since showing how unsafe it is. So now I’m terrified to go back. Not cause of anything that happened to us!
