Saw that in the news. This is looking bad for Boeing. Could be bad for Southwest too, since they've ordered 170 of these planes and will be flying them to Hawaii.

First thing I wondered when I heard there was a crash, was if it was one of the new Boeing planes. Ugghhh. Scary.

@Lain I did hear back from 7 customer service about the gift cards. They actually emailed me back Fri. evening but I kept forgetting to post about it. Here is what they said:

"Thanks for contacting us.

We are currently out of stock of physical gift cards. This item will be available March 22.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help!

Thank you,
7FAM Support"

Sounds like it is going to be too late to use the Amex offer(s), but I figure I'll check a few times this week to see if maybe they return to stock earlier. It also seems weird that they are blaming it on lack of stock of physical gift cards when their website also sold electronic gift cards....

I wonder if you can order some jeans as a gift for you or your DD, and if it happens that it doesn’t fit whether you can return it in exchange for a gift card.

Answering my own question from 7FAM’s FAQs:

Can I return a Gift?

Gifted items are only eligible for store credit. (Required: new with tags, with a proof of purchase or gift receipt).

Our current house is like that. And in house shopping we are focusing on more neighborhoods that are planned the same. Aesthetically speaking, It looks so much nicer not to have driveways and cars in sight when you look down a street. Also Never have to worry about a car blocking a sidewalk or backing out over your kid riding his bike down the sidewalk.
We have a decent "courtyard" as it is called...it is just on the side of our house, not behind. We even have a swingset for DD3 in it. And since it is between our house and the house next door, no one can look into our yard, like if you had a backyard neighbor.
We love it....but it is Charleston-style of course, so that is probably why. Can you imagine rainbow row with driveways in front???

ETA: Oh and the other thing about alleyway communities, is that they are done to promote front porch living. All the front steps lead straight down to the sidewalk. All the houses have big front porches where people linger and sip sweet tea and chat with neighbors as they pass by. It is like Mayberry....at least around here. But everything is new and communities are master-planned, around here.
A lot of the houses I've seen don't have front porches. That would help some, but I need me some green space. These houses I've been looking at are just too close together. I swear we could touch the other person's house if we stuck out the window lol. It's just not for us. I've never seen that style of a house before.

I checked to see if there were earlier flights but no dice for anything direct on a saver award. I was thinking they would not be able to rebook us on another flight unless there were saver tix available. I was happy to find out I was wrong. I called and after what seemed like an interminable hold we were able to get our flights rebooked for the evening before instead even though there weren’t any saver awards. I guess when they cancel the flight on you they can force award availability on the rebook. Good to know. Now I have to find a hotel for the night. Sigh.

I'm fairly certain that how you book a ticket no longer matters when they cancel a flight or change the times and they don't work. They need to get you on a flight that will work. I'm pretty sure when it's something like this they also need to keep the class you had, so first to first etc. I think it's only when your flight is cancelled within 24 hours of the flight due to weather/mechanics etc that they don't have to keep the class they just have to get you a flight within a reasonable amount of time. This is the one that trips people up and upsets them because they think it should be like to like but they are only required by law to get you to your destination. So always better to have it cancelled well before you travel and there's "lots" of options to change to. It would also be the case where if you didn't like the change/options you could cancel without penalty just as the change is without a fee because they've forced it on you.

That seems to be the case. Not having experienced that yet I wasn't sure how it would work. The last time I had something cancel and get re-booked I was also on a separate tickets with a positioning flight but we had paid with gift cards directly with the airline. This one was an award flight booked with miles from a partner airline so I wasn't sure how things would shake out. I'm glad it worked the same but was afraid that they would require partner availability. I figured I'd share my experience of what happened here and save someone a minor panic attack if it happens to them someday.

Applied for DW’s CIP#2 yesterday morning using my link, and it’s been approved overnight!

This is DW’s third open Chase biz card; with a CIU approved in 9/18, and a CIC approved in 12/18. CIP#1 was closed in 10/18 after one year when the AF hit. CIP#2 has only a $5k CL, but that’ll work!

Special thanks to @SouthFayetteFan for being my sounding board. I went back and forth between the United Biz 75k miles offer and CIP#2 for a combined 100k UR. The math was too obviously in favor of CIP#2 even with a $95 AF compared with the United Biz’s first year AF waived. While my wife does fly United quite a bit when she travels for work, she’ll get almost no benefit from the United Biz that her company wouldn’t otherwise cover as an expense. So if we’re just going by the SUBs (because let’s be real, Chase has nerfed the heck out of the CIP for any ongoing bonus category spend), the CIP’s 100k UR easily wins out.

YAY!

:cheer2::banana:party::cheer2::banana:

Yay, business is booming! Congratulations :)

Yes! I got BC for $259 through a Priceline Express deal for when dh & I are in WDW this end of this month! We were booked at CBR and I was trying hard to find my excitement but was less than thrilled. I just wanted something more for a couples only/no parks stay, yk? Just happened to look last night and there was a Disney deluxe. I was pretty sure it was Epcot area or AKL and it was BC :D

Congrats on your BC booking. We have a 3 night stay coming up and I was willing to try Priceline for that but not for our 7 night stay as I get nervous about where we could end up..Lol. Been reading up on tricks to know where your booking will be at before actually booking but not sure if they work. I just have to get over fear of the unknown.

Had his AF posted? Had the companion certificate issued? Did you do it by chat? I am thinking I will do that on DH’s personal Delta Plat. Trying to decide if should do it now or wait until closer to anniversary. He has had it several years. I would close out but don’t want to get on the pop up list (assuming he is maybe off).

DH is already on the popup list (at least when I checked 2 mos ago). The renewal was going to post next month, no certificate. If you downgrade you can't use the cert anyway. The agent on chat told me it was fine to go ahead and downgrade, I didn't need to wait until April 5 (when the statement cuts). Been Amex users since 2006.

Yeah I'm not a fan of that at all. We won't be looking at any of those houses. I know getting a yard is tough in that area, but I've found some houses that have a pool and STILL have grass space. That's interesting to know why they're built like that though.

Yeah, I think they are terrible. When we upgrade to a single family home backyard space is one of the important things on my list. I wish they built half as many houses on the land around here and let people have yards.

Congrats party:

@wendow awesome BC booking! We stayed there once in a DVC one-bedroom and I loved it.

Add me to the list of people not happy about paying more for fast passes. I'm especially irritated about it for my upcoming trips. I feel like it's a bait and switch. My booking is already reserved and paid. We're still going to go, but if it is similar to MaxPass, that's an additional $200 for something that I thought I was getting when I made my reservation.

Hi everyone :) I've been a lurker on the disboards over the past few years, but this thread has been so fascinating to read! I've requested to join the reddit group, but was asked to post to verify my existence :)

I'm still wading through the hundreds of pages, but I'm super interested in learning more about how to save where I can! Cheers!

Applied for CIU Saturday morning and called a few times over the weekend and got 30 day message. Called this morning and received approval.
Does expedite request work via SM? Thank you.
Congrats!
:banana::dogdance::cool1::dogdance::banana:
I believe I've seen that SM can work to expedite. They've been quick to answer mine so far, usually just a few hours, so you should know same day if it's successful or you have to call.
