Just out of curiosity, do you just eat the $10/person charge for no-shows with Disney in this case? Didn't know if there was any way to get out of that.

Curious about this too, and was about to ask when I saw you asked :)

We called from the Magical Express and explained the situation. They waived the fee thankfully. I believe they told DH it was a one time fee waving. It would have been an $80 cancellation

Enjoy! Make sure to ride Flight of the Hippograff in IoA to get a sneak peek at the WWoHP addition. Pretty sure the Great Hall is being added.

I'm really intrigued by this addition because I also thought it looks like the Great Hall... but how are you going to have the Great Hall separate from Hogwarts?

How did I miss this news?? Where is this happening? We haven't been to Universal since summer 2011 :-)

I've wanted to go to BG down there forever. We're only about an hour and fifteen from BG Williamsburg and love it. We're much closer to King's Dominion but never go there.

DH and I are definitely planning to go back to Universal once the WWoHP addition is completed.
I like BG Tampa a lot better. But once I took my kids to BG Tampa when they were little and wasn't paying attention to the fact that their version of the battering ram goes upside down. I was not a happy camper when I got off!

I have a mailer for the 100k MRs on Amex platinum (5k spend in 3 months) and I’m debating going for it.
Of course it’s the $550 AF that’s keeping me from jumping on it.

So tell me about the $200 airline fee credit. Is that one that people are buying and then selling airline gift cards on? If so, how much are people pocketing for the $200 gift card? It might help a bit to stomach the fee if I could cash that out.

I have been collecting URs for a WDW trip in 04/2020 and although I’m sure I could find a use for 100k MRs, it’s not my current goal.
Here’s what I have so far
05/2018 CIP
08/2018 CSR
08/2018 CSP
11/2018 SW plus
01/2019 SW biz

Not totally sure what my next step will be. Is there any way to use MRs towards WDW besides flights (already covered with SW)?

i would think thats part of MSR bonus though... basically if u dont meet your spendings, u wont get it.

Are they though? Citi generally credits the difference in AA miles immediately or on your next statement, even if you haven't met spend yet.

Ah! Got it!! Yes, I didn't quite get your meaning the first time. We will treat it all as part of the experience, lol. We've never been to a game at an SEC stadium, but we've been to a fair number of away games over the years, so we aren't strangers to the concept of hostility and rowdiness in an opponent's stadium. Glad to know Cal won't be as hated as an SEC rival. Although Ole Miss will be looking for revenge since we beat them at home in the first match of the home and home series. Should be fun. Bring it on :)

Well, I and a ton of folks in places like Starkville, Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, Tuscaloosa, etc, will be Bear fans that day! Most of us hope you beat 'em again! :)

:offtopic: Those that do their own taxes, which tax software do you utilize? Any discount codes out there to file with these places? I thought I saw an Amex offer, but I don't see it now. I need to do self-employment this year as I picked up a couple side hustles. HR Block vs Turbo Tax. Moved from a no income tax state to one that has income tax, also worked in another state...so these returns are getting longer.

No Chase 1099 yet...all I have are 2 clicks on the Disney card...doubt I will get anything but I guess maybe I should report it.
There was an AMEX offer for Turbo Tax. I've used Block last year and received a $10 loyalty discount. Promo codes online = YMMV

My guess just from reading data points is that for low utilization/high credit score, they'll use too many new accounts or inquiries to deny. But if high utilization and (or?) not such a high score, they'll just approve because they want people who carry a balance. DH and I are in the first group. He was auto-denied for recent inquiries. I think I was approved (not auto) because I had another Cap One card and a savings account.

I think you took a break from getting new cards before getting the Venture? That's my guess why you were instantly approved. All conjecture though, lol!

I'll add mine to make it more confusing. I've opened a new card every 2 months or so for DH and he and was instantly approved for capitalone venture. High credit score, low utilization. I did check before applying if he was preapproved for any and that one came up.. Credit karma instantly let me know that someone was checking out his credit report after applying. :-)

You got the unicorn offer! @SouthFayetteFan already covered a lot. I just want to add that you can double dip the airline credit before you cancel the Plat after 1 year since it's calendar year. So assume $160 cashout value x2. If you get UberEats in your area, you can use the Uber credits on that. $15/month, $35 in December. I figure that's worth ~$140 a year in food (subtract out some for delivery + tip). Also comes with TSA/Global credit if you want another one of those. Plus $50 Saks credit twice a year, so you'd be able to get 3 of those before you cancel.

:offtopic: But my budget fail for the day - @havaneselover and a few others, I know we talked about the Vyvanse coupon. I thought the lady told me my coupon would last a year, but apparently it only lasts for the calendar year. Grrr I had already waited over 30 minutes for it, so I just went ahead and paid for it. And my copay went up $5 for this year also. I just printed out a new coupon, but wont refill for another 4 weeks so hope I remember it then. Wont complain too much because I know my copay is much lower than yours, but paying $25 more than I should have is frustrating.
