Wait--if I get a platinum card and add on of my kids as an AU with a gold card I can pay for one GE on my card and one on the AU's gold card and both will be covered? If so I need to expedite my plan for a platinum card.
If you have a plat card, you can add AU'er two ways - as a Plat AU'er (has an AF) or as a Gold card AU'er (free!). I think you can add quite a few also. But yes, you can add the kids as gold card AU'ers and they will receive the TSA/GE credit. I added both my teens and paid for their TSA with each of their cards and received the credit.

I haven’t done this but I have heard of people modifying their same day reservation for a later date and then canceling to get out of the fee. I feel like that’s wrong to do, but if my flight was delayed and I was going to miss my reservation I would do this.

Interesting. I guess I actually have done that, but it was a legitimate need to modify and I called the dining reservations line to do it so I wasn't sure if the lady was just being nice and waiving my fee or if that happened regularly.

I'm trying to follow all of this Chase and Amex 1099 stuff. I haven't received anything yet from either, but I'm not sure what counts when I'm trying to add up what I will potentially be looking at. This is so crazy! $5 statement credits for paperless? C'mon!

Yeah, I cancelled before with a lady over the phone and she waived the fee since we made a reservation at another restaurant. Sometimes I change my mind at the last minute. lol I really guess I just have a problem with people making a million different reservations and then picking the day of the one that they want and then modifying the others to get away with not paying.

Also, one time when it was my 180+10 day time I accidentally made a reservation for the same day and couldn't cancel. I had to call and the lady didn't charge any fee. I really shouldn't be making dining reservations that early in the morning lol.

Thank you for the explanation! DD's GE was paid for by my SPG Lux but DS needs TSA precheck (never taking him out of the country, he doesn't travel well). And I only have TSA precheck but want GE.

I didn't get any retention offers from Chase. Looking at monthly statements, my Freedom card only earned about 26k URs for the year and that was from spending. I'm confused.

DoC is reporting that some Chase 1099's reported the $5 paperless credit as $500! I think that would explain the numbers on mine.

I think I got caught up in the paperless $5/$500 error with Chase too! That would totally explain part of the 1099 I got from Chase. I had $100 on my CSR, which makes sense because a friend used my referral link before those links went away. But I also had $500 associated with my CF which totally mystified me. But I did do the sign up for paperless offer on that card in exchange for 500 points! I think because I don't usually file until October, I'm going to wait a bit and see if Chase figures this out and issues corrected 1099s. Otherwise, I'll have to call.

I also see on Informed Delivery that I have another Amex 1099 coming. Oh joy! And I realized that the first one I got from Amex showing $268 in Box 3 is actually tied to my Biz Green and not my Aspire. That also mystifies me. Once I get all of my Amex 1099s, think I'm going to have to call Amex as well to get the breakdown on these.

While far from the most exciting stadium in the SEC, Ole Miss is like no other place in the country. Tailgating in the South is unreal anyway, but The Grove is tailgating to the 10th power! You are about to experience a taste of the true South.

With the game being on 9/21, likely to get a healthy dose of Southern weather as well, but it will likely be a night game. Those are spectacular in the SEC, but tough on visiting fans. Enjoy the trip,

I agree - our middle DD goes to Ole Miss and I love visiting her! We've gone to football, basketball and baseball games and love all 3, but I'd never seen anything like the tailgating in the Grove before we experienced it! We're from Illinois and I never really figured out how Ole Miss got on her radar as far as schools to attend, but I'm glad it did - we will miss it when she graduates!

I'm super excited to go to this game and experience SEC tailgating at The Grove! I've heard so much positive feedback about it. We are going with a group of our college friends, so it should be lots of fun. And I'm totally fine with a night game. Yes, the time change can be an issue for the team and the fans, but I happen to really enjoy night games and my team seems to play better at night, so that's a plus :)

general rule of thumb is if you pay y to get x, then it is not taxable.
so far, retention bonus, referral bonus are taxable.

Just PCed my CSP to a CF. Excited to get in on those 5X categories! Can't believe it's been a year since I started dipping my toes into this.

Now I can't decide my next move. I was thinking Amex Gold, but that will put me at 5/24 until January 2020. Now I am thinking CIU. Just SMed to reduce all my Chase CL so once that has hit my reports I think I will go for a CIU. Or if anything fun pops up I will pounce on that.

I find taxing the retention bonus questionable. For Southwest at least, those bonuses are really just a reimbursement of the annual fee. You do have to pay the fee in order to get the retention bonus. Just my 2 cents. Wondering how many revised 1099's Chase will end up sending out?

Leaving in a little more than 48 hours. 3 nights WDW, 7 day RCL carribean cruise, 3 nights universal tix and staying onsite at RPR. About 2K oop rest covered with churning and tips learned in here!!! SO grateful for everyone here and this hobby!!
Enjoy! Make sure to ride Flight of the Hippograff in IoA to get a sneak peek at the WWoHP addition. Pretty sure the Great Hall is being added.

I guess what I mean about the night game is not really the time issue but rather, shall we say, the "rowdiness" factor. For some reason in the SEC we tend to get "riled up" (that is a Southern term! :)) more at night games. From a strictly football standpoint, I never look forward to going on the road for a night game in this conference, even to Vanderbilt! Night games in the SEC are wild and it feels like you are going into a gauntlet. At least the Rebs don't dislike Cal like we all hate each other in this league, so you have that going for you! It will be mild though compared to Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Alabama, etc. You will have some stories to tell when you get back home that is for sure. :-)

Ah! Got it!! Yes, I didn't quite get your meaning the first time. We will treat it all as part of the experience, lol. We've never been to a game at an SEC stadium, but we've been to a fair number of away games over the years, so we aren't strangers to the concept of hostility and rowdiness in an opponent's stadium. Glad to know Cal won't be as hated as an SEC rival. Although Ole Miss will be looking for revenge since we beat them at home in the first match of the home and home series. Should be fun. Bring it on :)

I'm really intrigued by this addition because I also thought it looks like the Great Hall... but how are you going to have the Great Hall separate from Hogwarts?

I told Dh our next Orlando trip should be universal and Busch gardens

I've wanted to go to BG down there forever. We're only about an hour and fifteen from BG Williamsburg and love it. We're much closer to King's Dominion but never go there.

DH and I are definitely planning to go back to Universal once the WWoHP addition is completed.
