I know, and right in the middle of me looking at <$100 flights on Frontier I'm like :faint: I'm trying to figure out if they're trying to piece it together themselves... I feel obligated to at least send them to Kayak

I also can't help but think there are better resorts/hotels to stay at for less $. The outrigger and aston chains offer great properties that are hawaiian. Then there's the sheraton etc. I've stayed at the hyatt and it's nice but does feel less resort/hawaii unless it's changed since 2002 which is very possible.

You guys :P, I'm so thankful for this hobby and everyone here in this thread. DH sent me a bare minimum of his coworkers trip asking if it seems like a good price. It's DEN-HNL on United, Sat to Sat over the week of the 4th of July, (I looked up the flight times, I see $1120pp for regular economy), then it says Trump Hotel ocean view (assuming Waikiki from my googling), then says tour, travel insurance. Total $6894.94. I know Hawaii is expensive (also an expensive week I would think), but we spent less OOP on our 2.5 week wedding/honeymoon extravaganza thanks to this hobby!

Without getting political (because someone reported my last joke about Trump Hotels and got me in trouble with the mods), the Trump Hotel in Waikiki is in a really mediocre location, so I'm imagining your DH's coworker is paying a lot of money for a luxury hotel in a not-so-luxe spot. It's not beachfront (it's a block back from the beach), so there will be the Outrigger Reef, Halekulani, and Sheraton Waikiki hotels (which are all on the beach) obstructing the ocean view looking south to east (towards Diamond Head). Looking westward will probably include a parking lot for Fort Derussy beach park. Behind the Trump Hotel is a relatively new retail and entertainment development called Beach Walk, which is kind of convenient but part of the concrete jungle that Waikiki's become in the past 20+ years or so.

I think I've caught up to today's chatter, and apparently I'm never going to catch up to @SouthFayetteFan's likes.

Just reporting in that I finally got around to calling Chase for a retention offer on my Marriott Biz, and got nothing. The rep tried to justify the 35k FN cert as the incentive, which I poured cold water on, and she didn't see any other offer available to me. Maybe I should've called sooner. OTOH, I put no spend on this card after meeting MSR so I'm not the best customer. And I can see @calypso726 and @Judique arguing that of course a $99 AF is worth another 35k FN cert in a year. I do wish I had a few more of those laying around.

Ah, but car loans are all we have currently. Student loans are gone and a mortgage is still on the wish list.
A house can be on the wish list...don’t wish for a mortgage though :P

Since I'm new to the world of biz cards with my CIP, I was wondering if adding my wife as an AU ("employee") counts against her personal 5/24? And does it impact her ability to get a CIP in a few months for her business?

No. If a business card does not report to a personal credit report (and the CIP doesn't), then an employee card on that biz card also won't report to the "employee's" personal credit report. If a card, AU card, or employee card doesn't show up on a person's credit report, it doesn't count against 5/24. An employee card on your CIP for your wife won't make her ineligible for her own CIP at a later time.

Can anyone help? I'm in the middle of a MDD, and need to recon the second card. What's the best number for Chase? And will I have to *gasp* SPEAK to somebody? If so, I'm going to need my voice to get really deep, really fast........

The number I call is 1-800-432-3117...and unless it says approved...unfortunately you will have to speak :scared1: to someone

Well, they use the heck out of the FN certificates so it is worth it to them. But if you don't or struggle to, eh, jettison the darn thing! 35K hotels are hard for me to utilize right now...once DD decides where she's going to uni I'll either hold on tightly to mine, wave adios, and/or try to upgrade my Chase Marriott to another R-C. Three 50K nights I can definitely use:teeth:

I was going to make some large principal payments on our mortgage this year anyways. I’m thinking this would be a way to hit Citi AA MSRs at 2.5%.

I might be doing the same (well Plastiq mortgage pmt anyways), but I don't have another MSR to work on right now so no need yet. Trying to get DH to get a SW card because he's eligible and we'll need RR points next year. I'm about 6 weeks from a TBD chase card.

Yeah it seems really high to me

Oh jeez. I appreciate your knowledge. Going to try and find out some more tomorrow. I priced out that hotel for that week too and seems super high to me even knowing nothing

Maybe a teeeeeny one lol. I liked your modest forever home plan from the fire thread :D

I already used the two that’ve posted. Expecting two more 35k FNs soon from my SPG and DW’s SPG Biz. And another 35k FN in a few months from my Marriott PP. I can easily burn these around Disneyland or Universal Studios Hollywood. I’m seriously considering upgrading my SPG to the Brilliant if an upgrade offer ever comes, and my Marriott PP to a RC card, which would take me to 3x 50k FNs.

I’ll keep an eye on this. I reached out to a couple of trusted folks on r/churning for opinions. He doesn’t really have a reason to lie...there’s no gain to that person. Hmmm. @Andysol - If you’re around here, any thoughts?

Bpturner is applying in the next couple days and will hit spend immediately via MS, so we’ll know for certain in 30 days. It could be a game changer, but it’s not like we’re going to have multiple DPs on this for a while.

I’ve stayed at essentially every hotel on Waikiki for work. Sheraton (the one on the beach) near the Hilton Hawaiian village is hands down the best in my opinion.

I’m glad that thread has inspired you :D I have been neglecting it lately - need to post some discussion topics there.
