Poking around on the American Airlines website (since I'm gonna have miles for them I won't be using elsewhere) and guess what! I can get to Florida with them!

Is "MCO" that you all refer to a lot the best/most convenient airport to fly into for WDW?

I wouldn't necessarily plan anything super soon but if a decent trip could be had without messing up my other churning/Japan plans, I'd be ok with that!

And we thought the RAT’s claws were long and sharp? The Mouse is just as ruthless! From someone who was able to take advantage of this morning’s shopDisney 40% off gift cards glitch:

ETA: Calls are coming in about orders getting canceled.

I'm not surprised. This is the kind of thing Disney would do, especially since it was "out there" and a ton of people took advantage of it.

Approximately how long does it take to receive the Hilton Biz Cards?

Pretty sure DH's took about a week.

Yes! MCO is Orlando International and where Disney has the free Magical Express shuttle to resorts owned and operated by WDW :goodvibes

The goofiest thing happened earlier. I had to cancel my companion ticket to move DHs flight for free with SW then re add it. Normal. Well I pulled the wrong confirmation number and cancelled myself off tonight instead of Tuesday 😱 Luckily there was room to add myself back right away. And I moved up in boarding numbers from b49 to a59!

Ok at least I got that part right!

Off to do some preliminary research and see how much hotels are gonna set us back... yikes. Good thing I'm a BASIC girl at heart so I will be checking the values... that's right, isn't it? Value=least expensive?

Like several others, I booked a trip through Delta Vacations today. Headed to Portland over Christmas to see family.

I booked a package today and was told that you can cancel up to 30 days before and it is $200 per person. The amount goes up from there, I booked a package for 3 people and the cancellation fee was $600 up to 30 days prior, then jumps to $900, then well over a $1,000. I ended up buying the insurance for $44 per person since there is a chance we could have to cancel or rebook. If you cancel, you get a voucher back for value of the miles minus the cancellation.

There are some great deal out there. I have wasted lots of time the last few days looking at various vacation scenarios. For us it is a win/win. We can use the miles and get better value while still earning skymiles in the process.
Thanks for the info! So, if you buy the insurance for $44 pp and had to cancel, you'd get everything else back as a travel voucher?

I'm trying to figure out if I can book one flight and only one room x2. We need two rooms so I'd have to call Disney wholesale to add the other people and then we'd all fly SW instead. I'm not sure how that would work though if we didn't take the flight or if we could just cancel the flights but keep the rooms...? Delta doesn't have good options from Denver so not sure we want to commit to flying them.

I'm so sorry your trip is cancelled. We love going in Sept but we've been affected by hurricanes a couple times and had we gone this year for LD, it would have been 3 of 4 years (if I have my dates all right). It's pretty shocking how often there seems to one around this time of year.

This is my birthday weekend and growing up in FL, I can't tell you how many times I have spent this weekend either evacuated or watching a storm. It put a real damper on the weekend some years. I remember having a sleep over going on (probably in middle school) and everyone had to leave early because we were getting evacuated. The long weekend is appeal but no way for me!

Well we just drove to 4 different stores to find an AC window unit. Finally found some at Home Depot. We tried Lowe’s, Walmart, and Target before that. Dh is having trouble getting the thing he bought to connect to the whole house AC because it’s on the outside of the house and the blower fan is on the inside of the garage. Not sure why they wouldn’t be together but he can’t hook it up to both. He’s gonna try some things tomorrow but if all else fails we have a window unit

I don't know the last time we had a flight to MCO that wasnt full!

Now the real question... does the internet work?
My dh and I always joke about if the flight will be full or not. It is. Always! My dh just flew back from New Orleans on SW and they had 30 empty seats (lots empty going too). So, I guess not 100% full planes exist. We are just never on those lol!

I remember when I was flying from Jackson MS to BWI quite frequently and we were lucky if there were 30 people on the entire flight. That worked well since they were always later flights and I was ready to get home so it was nice to be able to spread out.

The main reason I want the Seahawks to do well is so I can get more delta miles :) Per DoC the promo is back. Must have a WA address.

Yes I am a hawks fan but I don't like Russell Wilson and won't be happy until he's gone from the team, therefore I don't want them to do well :)

Honestly I'm very conflicted. We have the flights but I don't want to leave the house. It's super tough to decide what to do.

What is the cancellation policy for SW? Paid by credit card.
I changed one yesterday and paid actual money by credit card. When I cancelled this morning, the portion I put on a credit card yesterday was refunded to the card.

I feel your conflict. My insides are churning (if that makes sense) trying to put on a brave face for dd but being scared of what could happen if we left and what might happen if we don't. No easy answers here -- I wish there were. I'm going to make a final decision by tomorrow morning. The flight we have booked is at around 1:00pm.
Where in FL are you?

I remember when we’d fly with our girls when they were little and we didn’t have the boys yet (so 2000-2008) and there’d be quite a few open seats. We’d frequently be some of the only people in the last half of the plane. It was really nice to have that space!

Built in 1991 but we bought it from a builder 9 years ago. He fortified it against hurricanes (even the front and garage doors). All patio doors also have hurricane locks and 90% of the windows are hurricane windows and the few that aren't have sliding shutters. But yeah, definitely older.

I probably will make a decision by tomorrow night. Idk if they’ll even know the path of the storm by tomorrow. I’m not booking a hotel though until I have a better idea of the path. Having a flight is definitely a little different since you’ll have to cancel in time. Is your house older?

See above -- I'm terrible at multi-quotes!

Where in FL are you?

We are in Boca Raton a few miles from the beach.
