If anyone is looking for Busch Gardens Williamsburg tickets, Groupon has a deal for $53 you get three days in a seven day period. Can be used at Water Country too. I highly recommend Water Country for anyone who likes Water Parks. Both parks are so well maintained.
Thanks, I wonder if I should get them for our July trip. We usually just hang out at the GWL besides going outlet shopping and out to dinner. I'll have to ask DS this afternoon when I pick him up from school.

I know everyone looks into free credit monitoring options so I thought I'd share an observation. I signed up for Chase and Discover to do it along with a free one I have from a data breach. I figure Chase and Discover are pulling my info anyway periodically, may as well have them tell me about it. I don't do CK or the others since I'm not interested in having my data aggregated and monetized but I caved to signing up for Experian to double check an account open date (only to remember that it's EX that doesn't store the date, and that's why I didn't see it on my reports, d'oh)

Chase's service is through TU so I get info from my TU report, they also use that info to generate the VantageScore. Discover uses the info on your TU report to generate your FICO score each month but actually monitors your Experian report. They also claim to check for your SSN out on the dark web.

So after last month's CIP app and this month's SW Priority app I get various alerts because Chase pulls both TU and EX for me, every single time. Over 3 days after each I get an email from EX for the inquiry there - which was immediate, got the email before I got the Chase "thank you for your app" email - and email from Chase for the TU one and 2 emails from MyIDCare, the monitoring service that monitors all 3 bureaus. However, Discover doesn't monitor for inquiries, they only alert you to new account openings. Due to my app timings though the monthly alert summary report comes in after that saying there were no new alerts last month.

It's funny to see all the alerts and warnings and red lights coming from all sides and then here comes Discover "everything is hunky dory :thumbsup2 "

I'm assuming I'll get an alert next month when Chase reports the SW Priority card. But at that point a decent amount of damage could have been done. I guess the moral of the story is, read exactly what you'll be getting with the monitoring service and don't rely on one that just tells you about new accounts opened. It'd be better to nip something in the bud after an inquiry rather than waiting for a new account to be opened and then trying to get it removed from your report.

So I’ve found out what happens at my bank if a HELOC payment (via Plastiq) posts before you get a chance to pull money out and have an available balance.

Apparently they just deposit into the members checking account. Took me a phone call to the bank to figure out where the payment went. Plastiq listed it as deposited by my bank but my HELOC didn’t show the deposit. I wasn’t looking at DH’s checking account which is where it went. Basically my bank treated as a regular old deposit.

@SouthFayetteFan and any others doing the HELOC dance may find this interesting.

Thank you. That was helpful. Mount Pleasant had much cheaper hotel prices but DH is spoiled and wants to be in the historic district. We probably will mostly walk around and eat, do one plantation tour and maybe hit the beach. It's going to be a "take it easy" vacation, so I agreed to splurge on the hotel. Still haven't decided on which one.
Here 's some suggestions from my friend who frequents Charleston to golf and will be retiring there is a couple of years:

The Hampton Inn in the historic district and is convenient to the visitor center and the great restaurants on King Street - https://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/south-carolina/hampton-inn-charleston-historic-district-CHSHDHX/index.html?SEO_id=GMB-HP-CHSHDHX

The Market Pavilion next to the city market downtown. She stayed on the concierge floor (think it’s the 4th floor) so there were a lot of other amenities you get by being on that floor and they had a great restaurant in the building –Grille 225. Here’s their website: http://www.marketpavilion.com/ (Her now fiancé proposed to her in Charleston.)

Just wondering what everyone is doing here.. but if my last CIP was 4/5, are people applying 7/1 or waiting until 7/6? It didn't cross my mind with DHs, his last was March so I was just thinking March to June, 3 months, but it was 3/18 :o

Yes and yes.
I went for it and he was approved! A little peer pressure here...I was afraid to let it go! I need to put some thought into what airline to choose as our designated airline. My limited research shows $50 delta increments work for gift cards. Has anyone had this lately? That's probably my easiest 2019 use and then I'll change it to Southwest in 2020.
I'm not sure exactly how I'll use the MR points. I've got some research to do.

@CyndiLouWho and another Chicagoans (if that's a word)- Looks like I get to Chicago for a conference in July and want to take DH and DS with me. What's there to do for a 12 year old? We'll be staying on the Magnificent Mile without a car for 4 or 5 nights. I'll have to "work" while my boys play :( I've been before but did adult things after a conference like hit the dance clubs until 4 am. Won't be happening on this trip.

I just got back with a 14 and 15 year old. We loved Shedd Aquarium (by we I mean DS and I). DD loved the Museum of Science and Industry. We also did the Skydeck at Willis Tower--2.5 hour wait at 7 PM on a Sunday night (it was a holiday weekend). Not really worth it. There's so much to walk around and see. I lived there from 1997-2001 a lot has changed. The bean is really cool. Also, the subway takes apple pay now which was so convenient. Only costs $2.50/person to get from downtown to O'hare. We ate at Lou Milnati's. I prefer Gioradono's.

Can you make a payment? That should post today before the charges clear.
Make a payment right now and hope it posts before the charge.
I've scheduled payments for same day and those have worked to keep me under the limit. especially with being a weekday.
The CIP is a Visa Signature Business card. It may be possible to go over the CL, but that and how much depends on the issuer and the customer. If your ~$500 charge clears and isn't declined, you should be fine.

Case in point, Tesla guy used this Visa Signature benefit to charge way more than his $37k CL to buy a $50k+ Tesla.
You can make an online payment today
Thank you everyone! I just made a 1k payment. Good to know about the potential benefits of the CIP being a Visa Signature Business Card. Much obliged.

Take a look at boat rides on Lake Michigan or the Chicago River. My kids enjoyed the Sea Dog when they were younger.
You could also look at food tours. We did a one that included pizza, chicago hot dogs etc. Started just a short walk from the Mag Mile.
