Let me know if that works, I have heard that only Princess Cruise gift cards work for Princes.... we have a cruise booked in Sept 2020 for Alaska

The ones redeemed through the MR portal are Carnival Corp GCs which are good for several of their brands, Princess included.

The ones in stores from GCM are brand specific still, so you'd need to look for the Princess ones there. I've seen them in Target now.

I found out in Canada they never touch your card. They just hand you the card reader, you insert the card, press the buttons, remove card and hand it back. A couple servers said they can always tell who is from the US since they try to hand the card over.
Been waiting for that to come here. I thought when Chip became widespread it'd be the next step but :confused3 I guess we like entrepreneurs too much to impede someone's budding fraud ring side hustle. Closest I've seen is the Ziosks at the chain restaurants. Baby steps I guess.

Up late, but celebrating hitting MS on our CIP, days within getting our SUB for the Cap 1 Savor!!!
Now the dilemna - what should be our next target? My own CIP from P2 support link? A personal card to help w flight benefits or hotels?
I’m 0/24, P2 is 1/24. Do not currently hold any co-branded cards (other than sock-drawered Disney Visa).
Do I need to recap our other details?

As I stated earlier, we are tied to a specific itinerary, so can’t use URs to book flights. Will try to book tours or hotels thru portal, however. Worst case scenario, we use URs at face value to offset ticket purchase, but it would hurt my frugality to lose a potential 25%.

What to do....what to do???

(I REALLY enjoyed that movie) :lmao:

CIP 2 via P2 support link is ALWAYS a sound strategy as long as you haven't gotten any Chase cards in the past 3 months.

I had a dumb moment... I've been waiting to apply for my wife's CIP2 because I wanted to make sure Aug 30th was within our MSR window. Somehow though when the calendar turned to June, I could not figure out that 3 months from now is September.... Wow, I'm struggling this week, haha!!

Our late night host has been busy (aka our benevolent dictator, aka eye bleach stock promoter, and on the side, Mod of r/churningreferrals)

Announcement of a new referral page on public Reddit to post your new Southwest Biz links.

This sub Reddit- r/churningreferrals -was designed specifically for the r/churning community to share referral links so normally there is a r/churning karma requirement that restricts access. However, according to the announcement there isn't an associated rankt page yet, which is what I believe is how enforcement of the karma requirement happens. So in theory it should be a little free for all at the moment and anyone could post a link there and potentially get a click.

Just follow the instructions in the post and check your link format against the existing posts and you should be good. :)

Edit: I should add if you want to throw your hat in the ring do it sooner if you can. Generally the closer to the top of the list you are the more likely to get a click. Reddit has a randomize setting but it only randomizes randomly, so most of the time the list is fairly ordered according to post order with first-in being at the top.

We are officially coming back Sunday! MIL and I went over most of the details over a bottle (and maybe another half) of wine :drinking1 flights were about 14k more RR a person. Still need to pick a hotel but I think it will be Dolphin on AA miles. I dont have quite enough until my 20k match posts on the 11th or 12th, so I'll probably book ILs and book us a cash room until then. Dh and I will officially hash out tomorrow but I think we will do Shulas with the extra night

And I thought the “PF” people had some bad advice! WOW.

ETA: and OMG “Starriott Infinity Gauntlet” I desperately want a churning video game now where we can steal each other’s credit cards with this ultimate goal!

Hit the bonus with the highest cash value to you first. Frugality be darned TBH, if redeeming URs for cash gets you where you want to go faster or better than do it. (Personally I redeemed a lot of URs for tours on my international trip last month and would love to put together another stash of URs to have them available for that again. Tours get expensive fast!)

I definitely agree with you getting your own CIP with P2's link. You cannot go wrong here! I *used* to have trouble cashing out UR's because it just hurt to think of how much more they are worth if booking through the UR portal BUT there comes a time when you realize 'cash is king', as they like to say around here, and being able to cover the cost, however that shakes out, is the way to go.

Not sure if this was discussed here this week...

Disney has announced that bookings for 2020 Walt Disney World vacation packages will begin on June 18, 2019.

This will be interesting to watch and see how long it takes resort availability to show up in AA's system :) I'm not planning to book my Jan/Feb trip until discounts come out which probably will occur in Sept/Oct.

But you don’t see the upgrade offer until a year, right?

That's my impression. Not sure though. Has it been a year since you got your Ascend? I don't have any personal Hilton cards yet. Would like to eventually play the upgrade game though, so trying to remember the chatter.

I only have the biz. Want to get DH the aspire but he’s getting the pop up for the biz. Maybe I’ll try for the fee free one soon for him!

I will be booking the Fri-Mon of Marathon weekend as soon as I see it available in the AA portals. Is there usually a delay for Disney to show up that you know of?

Also can you refresh my memory if which site usually has the lower rate? I know one needs a rental car attached for a lower rate but I’d rather not go that route. Just want to book the room.

Thanks!
(Also thanks to you and everyone who have provided info on AA miles to use for rooms. I just got my 60,000 AA points from Barclay. With the citi biz points I now have 122,000 AA points waiting to book a room for 3 nights in Jan.)

I'll see if I find any more info when I opt in later and PM you.

No coolant. It either removes the gas or ads a stabilizer, unhooks the battery, makes sure it's all clean under the mower deck and does an oil change. We often have issues with the battery in the spring so I'm guessing mom hasn't had it fully winterized. Especially since neither of us remember ever having to connect the battery. I know my stepdad did all that stuff but the JD was his baby. Pretty sure he waxed it at some point but def washed it more than we hose off the one we have.

Yes, if it gets cold that will zap the battery, and also, you have to be careful where you store your battery over winter. I usually just let the gas go dry in my mowers for winter, and then fill up again in spring. Our winter is pretty short all told so we are mowing in late march early april most years. The oil change is pretty simple - it's literally 30 seconds, remove old cannister drop in new one - filter attached.

Southwest CP Strategy

OK guys, I need some help. My wife has our Southwest CP. She is currently 4/24 but after 10/31, she will be 2/24. In 2017, I set us up with the CP for 2018 and 2019. I want to start planning our strategy for 2020-2021. I am not an option, I am way above 5/24. Should I close both these cards now? If so, when should I re-apply? I'm pretty sure I have to wait until after 1/15/20 before I can get another SUB, right?

If you were me, what would you do and when?

IssuerCard NameDate Approved
Date Bonus Received
ChaseSouthwest Plus
10/31/17
1/15/18
ChaseSouthwest Premier
10/31/17
1/15/18

I would wait to close until after the bonus RR points post 10/19 or 11/19....to close both cards
They yes for her to apply for a personal card you have to wait until after 1/15...I’ve seen the next month recommended so 2/1 to apply again...since she can’t get 2 SW personal cards now...
Since she has not had the SW business card you could apply for the SW business first...Nov....but meet the MSR in January....then 2/1 apply for a SW personal card

Okay, thank you. That then leads to another question. The credit card companies honestly have no problem when you cancel your card??? How does it affect your credit score?
Chase does not seem to have a problem with it..just keep the card open for a year...
if your looking at Amex they do only allow one bonus per card type...and they have denied people for other Amex cards if they are not continually using cards they have or closing cards
For your credit score it would affect the..age of accounts....so it good to keep your oldest card open...but my score has actually gone up in the last year

My 18 year old son would like to apply for his first credit card. He is a full time student during the school year, and works full time during the summer. What is the best first card that would be easiest for him to get with no credit history? He isn’t going to be churning. Just want him to start building his credit.
