Do you need to call or SM for a retention offer? My 1 yr SW card anniversary is coming up and I had been planning on cancelling.

Call in, I haven't heard of anyone asking for a retention offer through SM. Interesting thought though :) But I suspect they'd want you to call for that. There's been a bunch of DP's for people thinking about cancelling after the first year of getting either a half credit (either $34 or 35 statement credit for the Plus) or a full credit of the annual fee. What seemed to be a consistent factor is most didn't really put any spend on the card after MSR but I'm not sure what triggers the difference between half or full credit offers. Since we had the initial statement credit as part of the bonus we had decided in advance if they offered the half credit, he'd take it to get another years worth of anniversary points. Full credit would have been even better and we might have actually put some spend on the card in appreciation

I called in for a retention offer on my many years old SW Premier and no dice after 2 attempts. I did actually put spend on my card each year, not a lot but enough so I guess they figured I wasn't worthy somehow? IDK, but since it was many years old I'm eligible for the bonus again so Chase's plan to save the $50 or $100 on the retention offer is totally logical after they pay me 50-60k (or 110k!) RR bonus points to open a new card(s). Right? :confused3 Works for me though :teeth:

No :( It's a giant failing of the system in my book. BoA, Chase, and I think PNC uses the same system, in order to read anything you have to select it and once you select it it's added with no way to remove it.
I got all excited! Chase e-mailed me with some offers to add and I was redirected to a Chase offers website. This is the first time I've been able to view them on my laptop! I thought this website would maybe let me read the details of the offer... no dice! Still added the offer. But now that there is support outside of the app I guess thats nice. Baby steps!

I called and received a $100 statement credit on my SW business card in October...didn’t try via SM so not sure if it can be done that way

Thanks...I figured calling would be the answer. Wishful thinking on my part that it could be done via SM. I haven't put much spend on my card since MSR - just my monthly netflix bill. Fingers crossed for a full credit!

I'm like a million pages behind on the old thread, but I just came over to say that the ATT $200 Statement credit from forever ago finally posted on my closed BGR card! I have a negative balance! Woohoo!

Mine too. Ours was a directv payment that I tried - figuring I'd never get the $200 credit. What a gift!

Braces have been paid with the Arrival Plus + since that gets 2 points per dollar. Then I went to Staples and purchased $1000 of Visa GCs with the CIC. My Staples had plenty of $200 Visa GCs and the cashier was extremely nice when I verified the no activation fee buying them all at one time. I realized I should have gotten more for our upcoming trip to Universal since 5 points is better than the 3 on the CSR. I still have my AmEx offers to use also.

Did anyone else received the AmEx SPG Biz survey? I haven't had a chance to look at it yet to see what the questions are.

I wonder if you could remove him when the fee posts and re add? Does he get any benefits like priority pass for himself or global entry?

He does get his own Priority Pass as a CSR AU, which is why I signed him up as an AU in the first place - that was before he had a Biz Plat. He does some work travel that doesn't include me :sad1: and adding him as AU to my CSR allowed him his own PP card for less than him having his own CSR (which he did have once, but I canceled in 2017). I'm planning on canceling his Biz Plat in a few months, thus the desire to add him back as AU on my CSR so that he doesn't lose PP access. My CSR AF will post on 2/1 and after I pay it, I'll add him back as an AU.

Writing it all out is a bit confusing to see what's happening, so I'll bullet it this way:
  • 01/07/17 Opened my CSR
  • 02/01/17 $450 fee posts
  • 09/30/17 Added DH as AU, no fee showed up on my CSR; on his credit report this AU is dated as 01/07/17 (my opening date)
  • 02/01/18 $525 fee posts (reflecting AF + $75 AU fee)
  • 10/13/18 Removed DH as AU because he has his own PP from Biz Plat and I wanted to get him the CIP and this drops him to 4/24; no refund of fee to my CSR. And he continues to use the CSR when beneficial since the card still works and has his name printed on it.
  • 02/01/19 predicting $450 fee to post (hope it's not $525!!)
  • 03/01/19 Plan to add DH back as AU. Maybe. If I can get him a Schwab Plat, then I don't need to add him back.
What I don't know here is if I had removed him as AU before my AF posted in 2/1/18, if I still would have been charged the $75 AU fee. But until the fee posted on 2/1/18, I had no idea if I was going to be charged at all!

There is just one Global Entry credit for the CSR no matter how many AUs you have.

Two week now, and still no resolution from AA on my stolen miles. I still have 0 AA miles and she still has her two tickets booked for February using my miles :-(.
I must have missed this story. So if you know someone has the tickets, seems easy for them to go get her. What do they say?!

I never thought I would be doing this when I started. I just realized I could get so many more points if I tried this out. It just isn’t possible for me to get a lot of points with just our daily spend.

I have liquidated 6k in one day before. So I’m not floating that much but yeah when I think about it it’s a lot of money.
I need 25% of your courage. (sorta like I need 25% of my toddler's energy)

I went to staples finally to get the visa GCs. Plenty of cards and no sign up about the deal. Normal guy who always cards me for any GC purchase wasn't there, oddly. Anyways, you'd think I was stealing the darn things, I was so nervous. Why? Because I was buying 2 at once and the limit in the ad say 1. :rotfl:I am seriously a chicken. Well, it all went through just fine, 2 in one purchase, and they guy didn't even ID me.

I was so nervous getting my first MO. I may still get a little nervous if I try a new store lol I practiced with a real debit card first tho too to see how it worked.

@disneymagicgirl Looks like I no longer have a use for the VV offers. DS11's words this morning over a maroon/gray striped hoodie- "I look like I just got out juvee except it's not orange." He said no more VV, I like UA and Nike. After he now has quite the VV shirt collection.
hahahahaha. Both my boys prefer UA and one also likes nike. However, when they go out to dinner or on vacation with me, I prohibit those gym clothes. Thats when they wear their VV stuff. My DS9 will even wear it occasionally all on his own.

I think I will do this too b/c I have no clue about MOs. Do they ask why you want them? I assume they don't make them out to someone, like writing a check right?

ETA: Oh, and what about depositing them? I don't have my local bank anymore...just ally. Can I deposit them online there? Maybe I need to open a diff account for it?

they hand it to you blank... u fill in your name and address at home.
they are only concerned about the payment card. ie must have your name... says gift card on it, etc.

its best u find an account you do not wish to have relations in case they decide to close it. My go to for MOs is Wells Fargo. They can deposit via mobile too.

For those that done the PNC Savings CC funding, how long did you keep that account open? Or can I at least take the bulk of the funds out after funding?
