I lost my engagement ring

:grouphug: Mushy...when I lose stuff I always call my mom and make her look. I get so worked up, she usually finds whatever it is in a spot I've already searched.

I hope you find it soon.

Sorry to hear you lost your engagement. That is an unpleasant feeling, especially when it has sentimental value. Hmmmmm, maybe you and your husband should renew your vows at Walt Disney World and he could give you a lovely ring to replace the one you lost. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry and I do hope you find your ring, but if not I think this is a fantastic idea!

Years ago I lost my engagement ring. I looked everywhere - didn't tell my husband and then finally when I did have the nerve to tell him, he bought me a new bigger diamond ring. I still felt bad but that shiny new ring sure did feel great. - It was for our 30th wedding anniv. November of 2004.

May 2006 our cellar was flodded, not bad mind you but enough that we had to mop up every few hours to keep on top of it, he brought home the shop vac and sucked up a lot of the water. When we were done, he wanted to clean out the vac before he transported it to his shop. He was dumping stuff in the trash when he noticed something shiny on the top of the trash. He pushed aside the little bit of dust and there almost under a spotlight perched on the top was my original engagement ring. He said the only thing missing was the choir singing.

Now let me say that we live in my parents home - the home I grew up in. I purchased the house from my dad after my mother passed away. I know my mother is around all the time - she LOVED this house. He never believed me when I said she was around. Well he was so freaked out when he found my ring he said he felt that someone had pushed his arm slightly. Poor guy for days he was totally spooked. I laugh and even now a year later he still KNOWS it was my mother who made him find the ring.

Don't dispair, yours may take a while to find but if I found mine - I'll bet you find yours too.

What a great story. Love happy endings. :) I think I heard the choir singing reading about your great luck, pushed on by your guardian angel. :cloud9:

What a wonderful story! I am glad you found it. It could have easily been discarded. It wasn't for a reason.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Good luck finding it!

**St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please look around. Something is lost and it must be found!**

I think Homeowner's will only cover a certain amount, unless you have a rider on it, then it will be the appraised value.

My greatgrandmother always use to make me close my eyes and turn around and say it.. .she use to say where ever i "stopped" was in the direction it was at... now i'm not saying its true or anything.. but I did find a few things that way... Good Luck I hope you find your ring.

So sorry you lost your ring.

Do you think there is any chance your dh took it and is planning on upgrading it? And he's just making it look like it is lost. I know it may be a long shot, but maybe.

I'm so sorry, I'm really hoping it turns up for you. I've lost two really nice pieces of jewelry, which is really bizarre since I'm usually really good and don't lose anything and I'm really organized. My boyfriend had just given me a wonderful tanzanite ring and I loved it! Well, one day I was walking down the sidewalk on my way home from work and I was running my finger over the ring and realized the stone had fallen out. I walked up and down that sidewalk (on a busy street in DC) but I never found the stone. Who knows if someone picked up or if it got crushed. The second thing I lost was a beautiful necklace from Tiffany that my boyfriend gave me. I was really upset and thought I lost it at the gym. A year or so passed and I was digging through a zipper pocket in a winter purse that I have and sure enough, there was the necklace! I know neither of the things I lost were as important as an engagement ring, but hopefully, there's a pretty good chance that you'll find it someday when you least expect it. (Hopefully sooner, though!)

I lost the diamond from my engagement ring about 10 years ago. My DH offered to buy my another one with a bigger stone or to just replace that diamond with a larger one, but I wanted my little diamond back. My grandmother called and told me that she had one very old diamond earring (a gift to her from my grandfather) that she had lost the mate to and offered me the diamond out of it. Her diamond was larger than mine and looks beautiful in my setting. It can't replace the original stone of course, but it does have sentimental value. Both of my grandparents are gone now.

Ugg, I hope you find it soon!!!

I would be heartbroken too. Dh picked mine out after I decribed what I wanted, him never seeing what I was talking about.

**St. Anthony, St. Anthony, please look around. Something is lost and it must be found!**

It's funny how the prayers can vary slightly. I always say:

Dear St. Anthony please come around.
Something is lost and can't be found.

One time I lost a necklace that was very important to me. I usually kept it in a drawer when I wasn't wearing it, and when I looked for it, it was missing.

I tore that drawer apart several times, saying the prayer as I did, however; I still couldn't find it.

I told my Grandmother my dilemma because I was heartsick, and she asked me if I was serious as I was receiting the prayer. I admitted that this time I wasn't, (even though St. Anthony helped me find several things in the past), because I was so nervous about not finding the necklace.

She told me to recite the prayer again, but really mean (and believe in it) as I said it. So, I stopped and said the prayer several times before looking again. I opened the drawer and there was the necklace in plain sight!

I think homeowner's will only cover if you had sent them an appraisal. My ring is on our renters insurance, and DF had to send them an appraisal.

I hope it all works out.

I know its not nearly the same, but I lost a really nice watch DF got me for Christmas on Friday. I looked at it at 11:15, and that was the last time I remember seeing it. How does one lose a watch.

I hope you find it.

I'm not entirely sure where I lost it. One evening after eating Chinese, my fingers swelled up really bad, so I took off my wedding ring and engagement ring and put them in a zippered compartment in my purse. At some point over the next day, either I opened the zipper or someone got into my purse (kids or DH) and left the zipper open. My wedding ring was still there, but the engagement ring was gone. So it could have been lost at home, in the car, or anywhere else I may have been that day. :sad2:

Would homeowners cover it in a case like that?

OH, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS! :grouphug:
I really hope it turns up. I agree a call to your H/o carrier will certainly clear up whether it is covered or not.
Good Luck!! :wizard:

 I lost a piece of jewelry once at WDW, frantically looked all over for it, emptied my bag, retraced our steps, it was no where to be found.

A few months later I found it, in the very bottom of my bag. I've got no idea why I didn't find it when I first looked for it, but there it was.

Hope you have the same luck!

Anne

Oh, gosh, how awful. I feel so bad.

As for insurance - homeowner's usually only covers jewelry up to a minimal amount - maybe $1500. I have a jewelry rider for my rings and other pieces.

If you have an appraisal from the ring (or even just the stone), you should submit it and see what they say.

I truly hope you find it. You may want to retrace your footsteps (stores, places you have been). You'd be surprised how honest people can be if it has been found by someone.

Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I lost mine 4 years ago. I know what happened. I always took my rings off and set them on the dresser. I had been shopping and was busing ripping tags off the items I had bought. And for once, right then and there picked up the tags and threw them away (and I am guessing that ring got mixed up in them). Garbage men came the next morning. Since we didn't go anywhere the next day, I didn't notice my ring was gone. Then that night my son had all my rings on except for my engagement ring. There was a lot of screaming and tearing the house up but never found it. Think I totally traumatized my son that weekend. I have an old ring someone else gave me and my son keeps finding it and asking if that is my ring. Poor kid.

My ring wasn't that big, but my DH had gone to a jewelry store and the owner taught him how to judge diamonds. Then asked him what price we was looking at, and pulled out a little bag of diamonds that would be that price and let DH go through them to find the one he wanted. So this diamond really meant a lot to me.

To anyone with any type of jewelry that would like replaced. Get it appraised and put it on your homeowners. Normally if you schedule it, they will replace it. Even if just the diamond falls out. Usually if the jewelry isn't scheduled it must be stolen or damaged in another peril covered by your policy in order for them to pay it.

It would have probably only cost $20 a year to cover my ring.

Mushy - I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm praying that you find it. I would check with your homeowners. I have a seperate policy on mine, so I'm not sure about regular homeowners. Good luck - my thoughts are with you.
