I lost 40 points. What does this mean?

I just remembered an example. When Ted Kennedy died people mentioned Chappaquiddick and how people should remember Mary Jo Kopechne. There was absolutely no mention of his politics, his political party, his historical voting record on issues, or anything else. Just his killing of a person was mentioned with no reference what so ever to politics. That thread, however, was considered political even though it wasn't just because it happened to be about a Democratic political figure.

The current thread is much more political than the Kennedy one was but one was closed as political and one was not.

I remember that one, too.

I *did* search. But it must be a thread that evolved (or devolved) without an obvious title. Didn't see it. But then, I could've overlooked it.

If I recalll, the ban was before the election - and posters were being punished for supporting conservative points of view. The ban wasn't to stop political discussion, as evidenced by political threads started by mods. It was to silence conservative voices.

That being said, I couldn't care less about the issue brought up in that thread. There are so many other problems that have been ignored that revolve around food on the table, gas in the tank, and roofs over our heads...

Well this just speaks to the matter of perspective... I felt like the liberal posters were being punished.. In fact the liberals pretty much disappeared and the conservative group (lasgana something or other stayed and may still be active).

I also recall conservatives posting political things in their signatures and having them remain for a bit after the "ban".

No way Jose - Lasagna was being discussed here a loooooong time after the salad thread got shut down and after the ban, and is still discussed. Stop whining.

Actually the post to which you are referring is pointing out the hatred being spewed by one Republican, not a free for all bashing of all republicans. The republican in question; speaks for herself and no "bashing" is needed.

Defending Christianity is commendable, just as having an opposing viewpoint on that particular belief system is commendable. It just depends upon your point of view.

I thought political discussion was banned. Sometimes it seems like some viewpoints are given more leeway than other veiwpoints.

I haven't discussed Lasagna since I was punished and the ban came into efffect, because I use these boards to plan vacations and help others. Not whining, just observing.

I think that the actual Big Ban was related to that. Some here must be mixing that up with when both Liberal and Conservative political posters went elsewhere to talk when political discussion was banned.
