Ok, so I just lost 40 points for being rude in the Gay fourm, and I don't know what losing points means. It expires on January 11, 2012. Can anyone help me?

Your sig will come back when your points expire. Stay out of threads that tend to make you angry in the mean time so you don't accumulate more points.

If you don't acquire any more points, your signature will return with these points expire.

I don't usually comment on infractions publicly, but I will here since you've brought this up.

We're pretty intolerant of rudeness here, especially insults or attacks on other members. If someone is offended by another poster's opinions, values, lifestyle, religion, etc., it's best to learn to walk away or just say nothing. When you do speak to or about other posters, please do so with respect.

In regard to the opinions you expressed regarding Gay Days (and "gay" in general), consider this: The DIS is owned by a gay man. Some of the moderators here are gay. Many of the members here are gay. Lots of the cast members who create the magic we love so much at Disney are gay. If you have a problem with "gay", this is probably not a place you'll be happy spending much time. :)

Posting anti-gay sentiments on our Gay and Lesbian forum is not at all cool.

I lost points on the gay forum for defending Christianity when it was being blatantly bashed, even by the moderator. I was polite, kind and logical, but some people are just haters. Even right now, the moderator has started a post bashing republicans. They don't follow the same rules the rest of us have to.

Actually the post to which you are referring is pointing out the hatred being spewed by one Republican, not a free for all bashing of all republicans. The republican in question; speaks for herself and no "bashing" is needed.

Defending Christianity is commendable, just as having an opposing viewpoint on that particular belief system is commendable. It just depends upon your point of view.

Nobody loses points for being kind, polite, and logical.

Well...why is that being allowed if there is to be no political discussions on this board...seems hypocritical.

I have gay friends, I dont want to see them bashed, but I am a republican also and I dont want to be bashed or have all of us painted with the same broad brush that someone could bash us.

It probably means you are intolerant of others. :sad2:
It really means that these boards are considerably more liberal than the world in general. Conservative or Christian views are often ridiculed, even when presented in a logical, neutral "voice".

I dare say that is not true at all, there are far more Christian threads on these boards than any other Religion. There is a Christian Music thread along with other Christian specific threads for Donald's sake!!! I stay out of them unless I have something constructive to say, unlike in video games you don't level up for getting points :goodvibes

I have found that as long as your are respectful, you don't get points. I had to learn that the hard way, I haven't gotten any since 2010 but through the years I have earned myself 70 points in total. You can pretty much say whatever you want as long as you aren't being disrespectful, rude, condescending or confrontational in an over-the-top manner.

OP, don't take it too hard. I enjoy the DIS and spend more time, or less time, reading and participating depending on how my life is going along. But really it is a good place with good people. Everyone goofs up now and then and we don't all agree on what is a goof up and what is not. I have goofed up in many ways and have even gotten "points", but here... and in life ...you can survive points and goof ups.
Let he that is without goof ups cast the first stone!!

I'm Christian and I've been posting here for years and I've never felt that I was ridiculed for it in any way. Even back in the day when we could openly discuss such things, I never felt that the DIS was a hostile environment for me.

I think it's more about the attitude of "My way is the ONLY way and everyone else is wrong", instead of "My way is the way for ME, and I love it-but your mileage may vary"

I agree. I see the same things on parenting threads, school absence threads, SAHM vs working Mom threads. It goes on and on. Takes the fun out of a lively discussion :sad2:
