I like Jello

I saw a show on TV one time about the search for a vegetarian substitute for jello
Evidently Marshmallows were something many veggies missed and they have jello in them

I like my jello plain with cool whip it doesn't matter if it is in a mold. Veggies in Jello is just wrong IMHO especially since it reminds me of funeral Jello.

Jello was invented in Leroy NY near me:) so we still see a big Jello Salad at Potluck:laughing:

My MIL always put a huge scoop of mayo on the jello EWWW :(

I still make 12 layer Jello with sour cream and it gets good reviews.

My mom makes this nasty lime jello with crushed pineapple and mayo mixed all together....skeves me out every summer! :scared1:

Yeah, marshmallows contain gelatin. I always envy the people who have those cute little mini-marshmallows in their hot chocolate! I wish they would hurry up, and find a good substitute!

In my opinion, it is just too much work to make a jello mold b/c (1) it will look like a pile of goo once the first person gets a hunk of it, and (2) lots of people won't even eat jello - I know if I am at a party and they have jello and other desserts like pudding, pie and/or cake, the other desserts win out every time.
Oh, and is it called aspic if it has vegetables it in? MIL has a "Secrets of Better Cooking" cookbook from the late 1960's that has several aspic recipes (tomato, cucumber-maybe?, can't recall the others). And consommes.

Alton Brown devoted an entire show to Jell-o molds...there really is a science to getting them to turn out just right. As for the layered ones, well, it was hard to keep notes! :happytv:

Ok, I can't believe no one has said this yet, but I like my jello with either Rum or Tequilla in it!! JELLO SHOTS!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

I make a really good Creamsicle jello shot! :rotfl2:

That is more like it, I would love a recipe for creamsicle jello shots!!

Why on earth would someone add mayo to jello? I don't get the sour cream either but at least its not jello

Ok recipe. I like orange jello with Peach Schnapps or Cranberry with Skky Citrus Vodka & a little lime juice.

never had a jello shot - just looked like too much trouble - :rotfl2:

but where is the recipe for the Cream Scicle jello shot - I have a feeling my mom would love that!!

Radish, schmadish. There is CAULIFLOWER in that Jello! :scared1:

So Cauliflower is worse than radishes in Jello?:confused3 :rotfl:
Let's put them both in and top with mayo. (Where's the vomit smilie?)

I like the looks of this molded jello creation, but it seems like it would be an awful lot of trouble.

Yeah, if I put all that work into it, I sure as heck ain't gonna let anybody eat it! :lmao:

The last time I made a jello mold was over 10 years ago. It was Christmas Eve and my new MIL was coming. I had worked a half day, came home made several home made dishes, the only thing I didn't cook myself was the ham. A lovely candy cane jello mold. MIL's comment, well maybe her son would teach me to be a better cook. I was 49, not a first time bride! We get along okay now, but I have never forgotten that and she has never apologized for it.

How rude!! My mil likes to get christmas gifts...GIFTS...for all the other grandkids. Mine, she buys one cheap gift for each. I told my husband this last holiday to tell her that if she were not going to treat my children like biological grandkids we would not be coming. You should have see all the gifts!:lmao: I figured after 4 yrs I should be treated better. Now she is just dandy!

I guess I shouldn't complain about cauliflower or radishes. It could be worse:
