I like animals more than people sometimes.

Got to agree. Animals don't cheat, lie, and aren't "fake". For the most part, if you treat them right, they treat you right. People definitely are not always that way. I know somebody (NOT a friend of mine for sure ) who was recently arrested for "training" his horse by beating her with a baseball bat (I saw the pictures, and it was bad). I've never seen a horse beat anybody with a bat... :sad2:

Maybe not, but I hear that horse meat tastes great! :lmao:

I can think of a select few people that I would prefer be replaced by animals..;)

That's a phrase I've never heard before... "doesn't care if my hair looks like you combed it with a cinnamon bun" Hmmmmm....trying to imagine that...maybe it looks something like this?

or this?

THAT'S IT!!! :rotfl2:

(ps...my father's family always used that phrase )

Put your dog and your spouse in the trunk of the car for an hour. When you open the trunk, who is really happy to see you? :dogdance:

I also prefer animals to people. If I had a choice of spending the weekend with the neighbor's animals or the neighbors themselves, the animals would win hands down.

Unconditional love.

How many humans can you say give you that?

Terri
Who has taught children and dogs all her life, and finds dogs MUCH easier!

While I wouldn't put the life of one of my own species (in most cases) I must admit that I certainly like the company and personality of most animals, including fish (of course, always nice and straightforward and any pair-bonding fish species are always the most loyal, sweet, and in the case where one pair-bonder dies heartbreaking to observe) better than the majority of people. While I am somewhat hardwired for it (like most humans, if to a lesser degree) it's always nice to take a break from the pressures of the sheer complexity of human interaction and social behaviors. While cool and a nice example of social/phycological evolution, I do prefer other species to my own to hang out with. They're just so much more cool about it.

This is not to say that the rest of the animal kingdom doesn't have their own bullies, idiots, zealots, murderers, psychopaths, rapists, war-makers and other such things. Just like love, compassion, altruism, loyalty, creativity and self-awareness are not entirely human traits, neither are the negative traits commonly only associated with humans entirely, well, human. I can also say there are individual animals that I like a whole lot less than most people, even the daft ones. It's never black and white (or even shades of gray), more like a whole spectrum of colors, moving in three dimensions along the color wheel not only by primary/secondary/ect colors but also among saturation and gradation, with a nice smattering of textures thrown in for good measure.

In other words, I quite like coffee. I can see why writers drink it.

What were talking about again?

Oh yes, animals are awesome. Most of them (even the bipedal, furless apes).

I like Kitty a lot. I let her get away with stuff I'd never let the kids do. If the kids had ruined my bedspread, there'd have been hell to pay. But Kitty got away with it because she's bad and I knew that when she came, so I live with it.

I like most animals in general.

But more than people..in a serious way? No.

No disrespect intended, but I think you and I have a different opinion of what's funny.
That's cool. :goodvibes

More than anything, I think that the notion that people like animals more than other people cracks me up. If all of the people in their lives have let them down that much, they need to look in the mirror. Chances are, they will find the reason staring back at them... :rolleyes1

Bama what is that mirror telling you these days?????

Most people are higher maintenance than animals and not as pleasant to be around. I'll take the company of an animal over a human any day (with the exceptions of DH, DD, and my Mom).

Oh, definitely. People suck. Animals might hurt or kill you, but they wouldn't mean it.

I love this!

Of course I wouldn't put the life of an animal ahead of the life of a person, but I'd way rather be around animals than most people out there. (Not so far out there, in some cases! ;) ) Animals don't have the hypocrisy that many people have and they aren't mean or jerks just for the sake of being a jerk. They are much more straightforward than many people.
