Would you recommend Fantasmic for my DS who's three and a half? We'd really like to go, but I've heard that it's just too intense for the little guys.

Thanks for your help!

I have been taking my DD to Fantasmic since she was 4. She loved it then and she loves it now. Just make sure he takes a very long nap that afternoon. Try to get a fantasmic dinner package so you waiting time would be reduced and sit half way up so he doesn't get soaked.

Fantasmic can be very loud and frightening. Disney uses a lot of fire and scary monsters. Granted, Mickey saves the day, but it still may leave a frightening impression on such a young mind. I would stick to the Magic Kingdom shows.

My oldest DS saw it at 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. On our trip when he was 3 1/2 he didnt like much, however he did enjoy Fantasmic. Youngest DS saw it at 8 months and 20 months and he hasnt had a problem with it either.
However, my friends daughters saw it at ages 3 & 4 and they didnt like it. The 4 year old was afraid that her princesses were going to get hurt. :( ;)

Last time we were in the "world" our DS was 3 and hated regular fire works, so we skipped it. This year, he will be 5 and we are waiting to see how he does on the 4th of July before making plans for Fantasmic (we are going in OCT). We would really like to see the show, so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

We got to the fantasmic location very early, got great spots and camped out for a bit. THe show started and my 7 year old freaked out! She isn't normally scared of anything (cept spiders!!). She rides all rides and nothing fazes her. However, she couldn't handle this show. We had to leave immediately. We were very upset at having wasted more than an hour to get great spots. BTW my 4 year old neice loved the beginning (we didn't see very much) and she usually is afraid of everything (go figure). Anyway, keep in mind that you may have to make a quick exit in choosing your spot if you have a child who becomes frightened.

Mine were 2 and 4 at the time and weren't scared at all. And dd (the 4-almost 5 y.o. had been scared of everything that trip.) They loved seeing all the characters, and were fascinated by the projection on the water.

Our DS was never afraid of Fantasmic but absolutely terrified of Illuminations when he was small! I guess that you just never know with little kids. You may want to go for the Fantasmic Dinner and then if you have to leave, you won't have had the long wait.

Just a tip - my son is afraid of those kinds of things too, so we use those lightweight hearing protectors that look like headphones. If he can't hear the scary/loud music, then the visuals didn't bother him too much or sometimes not at all.

Hope this helps:D

Hi -
This is one of those attractions I had to check out myself on an earlier trip with my Mom in order to decide about how my kids might react!
Turns out I was worried for them needlessly - they loved it! DD(6) covers her ears at some parts, but is mesmerized. By far my biggest challenge was keeping the merchandise hawkers at bay when we had to sit for an hour in October's visit.
A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to go in 5 minutes before showtime and sit 4 rows from the front! Got some great pix and the splashing doesn't bother us.
I LOVE Fantasmic! Something new to notice each time!

So I'll think we're going to see the show! Here's the plan:

Nice afternoon nap
Fantasmic dinner package
Choose seat close to an exit (and not too close to the front--DS hates getting splashed)
Ear protectors
Camera!

Thanks for all your help, everyone!

Our 3 yo dd dislikes fireworks, but liked this show. I talked to her before we went about the "bad guys" so she knew what to expect. That helped a lot. We brought her "little blankie" so she could wrap it around her head if she wanted. It cut down on the loud noise, too. She shut her eyes a couple of times but keeps asking to see the show again.
