So I apologize for being a bit of a slacker with my TR. I really hoped to do an update last night, but it just wasn't happening. I decided to try for a short one this morning when I realized that Nicholas has his guitar recital tonight. We also have state cup games this weekend and we are having an OBX meeting at my house on Sunday night, so I have to get ready for that.
Ellen - If you are reading - please tell me the name of the wonderful restaurant in Corolla you recommend.....didn't you say they have great crab cakes. We want to cook in 3 nights (each family doing a meal), probably have a lazy hamburger /hotdog night, have one adults only meal, and one group meal. I would like to go there for the group meal!
OK - so on with the TR. Just for frame of reference I have made it to the morning of Day 3 which was Tuesday May 4, 2010. It was our second morning in the world and I was surprised, and a little miffed, when I gazed at the clock and it was 545am! Ugghhhhhh! Are you Kidding me????? I get up at 5am during the work week, so it is hard for me to "sleep in". But this was ridiculous. I went to bed at midnight. Sheeesh! I closed my eyes and drifted off for another 1/2 hour, but finally got up to make the coffee at 6:15. By 7am I was awake enough to hit the trails. If you recall, I got myself turned around on Monday morning and I never found Fort Wilderness. Today I knew the right way to go.
So - this morning started pretty normally - coffee - bio break - got dressed, running shoes on - off I went. But.....I hadn't even run a 1/2 mile when I started to getting stomach cramps. Great - how extremely inconvenient. Not too many bathrooms on the trail between WL and FW. Fortunately, I made it without incident to FW. In fact, the stomach cramps subsided.
When I got to the fort there was a cast member outside trying to drum up business for breakfast. I forget the name of the restaurant there, but it was right next to the Hoop de Doo review. Another runner passed me on the path. A really in shape, good looking man in his mid 30's. He passed me like I was standing still. Which I almost was when I got a look at his fine physique.

Mmmm, mmm, mmmmm.....what a fine sight so early in the morning!
The cast member was cheering him on towards the lake. Then she started cheering me on....like we were running partners in a race....

Breathless, I replied, "I'm not with him". As if that wasn't obvious! LOL!
I stopped at the edge of the water, but not very long. It was still pretty overcast out and the humidity just hung there - it felt oppressive. Best thing to do was to just keep running.
I saw a bathroom and decided to take a bio break. That was the uggliest bathroom in all of WDW. It really reminded me of camping - I guess that's what it was supposed to do. But I couldn't wait to get out of there. I felt OK on the run back. I just figured my GI tract was adjusting to 36 hours of major food intake!
I ran back to the lodge without incident. In case you are wondering - it is approximately 1 mile from the start of the WL nature trail to the boat launch at FW. Maybe a tad longer. Still, a very reasonable run.
BTW - I never saw the cute runner again - he was long gone!
I decided to stop at Roaring Forks and pick up some more breakfast items for my co-travelers. When I got back to the room they were all lounging around, drinking coffee, watching the news.
Ahem....people .....let's TRY to get to Epcot around 9am. Do you think we can do it?????? I reminded them that it was an EMH morning at Epcot and that we really best be going at a reasonable time. Then I set off to the shower where I promptly succumbed to stomach cramp #2.
This was a light bulb moment. I thought to myself "Is it possible???? Is this a warning that the Evil D is coming back????? NO...can't be...I am fine!"
I finished getting ready and so did everyone else. We left the villa around 9am. Not too terrible, except for ONE THNG.....Stomach cramp #3 hit me as soon as we walked outside. I told the crew that I needed to return to the villa. OMG......Why is this happening? I went back upstairs, hit the BR, and grabbed my Rx for flagyl. Before I left on this trip I saw my GI MD. I told him I was very fearful of the Evil D returning. His words were, "If you get any D at all, just fill this Rx for Flagyl". Nice....It looked like I might need to do just that.
Once I got to the car I felt immediately better. We had an uneventful drive to Epcot, but without a
AAA parking pass we ended up in some nondescript area of general parking. This location will become important in a future update!
The nice thing about getting to the park soooooooo late (party my fault...I will take responsibility for that), was that the entrance lines were nonexistent. We hustled past spaceship earth and I told the folks that I would meet them at the board near the fountain that listed wait times. If we did only one thing today, it needed to be Soarin. I knew Chuck and Cathy would really love this, so I was on a mission to get FP's
ummmmm....OK......where the heck was the board????? Crap, it was gone. And I immediately knew why! Darn Verizon. I hate Verizon. They are like my ball and chain. Every communication device we have is through verizon - home phone, cell phone, fios TV, internet. We are indebted to them for life and we are in a contract that we will probably never be able to break. I hate some of their policies, especially related to cell phones. I think they are shady, non-yielding, and they specifically make things confusing. I think their products are too expensive and their advertising is extremely misleading. I think they nickel and dime people every chance they get. Can you tell, I really have this thing about Verizon?????
Well - you probably know that Verizon has an app called Mobile Magic. It ia $9.99 for 3 months (although I expect that there must be hidden charges which will later show up on your cell phone bill....ughhh verizon!). I almost purchased it, but because I KNEW it couldn't possible be as simple as a $9.99 charge, I decided not too. Plus I can't see my phone in the direct sunlight, especially with polarized sun glasses on. If I have to duck into a dark building everytime I need to use the app, what good is it? I figure I know the parks well enough and I don't want to give Verizon one more dime then I have to.
Well, thanks to this lovely app, I am almost certain that is the reason those boards are gone. I think the iphone has a similar app, so maybe I should hold ATT in disdain, too. Or maybe I should blame it on Disney and complain that they have taken away a major convenience item.
OK - enough of my rant! At least my stomach didn't hurt as I winded my way through strollers, gawkers, old people, young people, big people, skinny people. Phew....I finally made it to the FP machines and was awarded with a 1130am return time!

Not too bad, if I do say so myself.
So - I am going to take a break here. Up next....Sum of All Thrills, Spaceship earth, Soarin, Le Cellier, and more. And do I finally fill that Rx for Flagyl? You will have to wait to find out! I do have pictures for my next update!
