I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

I adore your light fixture pictures. :cloud9:

I have a hankering to stay at Beach or Yacht clubs so that I can go to SAB. It looks like so much fun!

I love all the photos you took around BC and YC. :lovestruc We've only stayed one time at BC, but that's all it took for us to fall completely in love with it!

The "Evil D"??? Oh no...

:yay: for the soccer tournaments!!! Great job! That is awesome....especially in the heat this weekend! :crazy2:
Glad you liked the Albany area.....the place that services my car is in Latham at the Mini dealership....they will come and pick it up on a flatbed and bring it back to me!! :sad2:
:lovestruc your pictures of SAB at night....love that resort and am itching to stay there again...such a GREAT location :thumbsup2
Oh yes I loved that fish at R&C...so happy I tried it and can't wait for more in October!! :goodvibes

First of all HUGE congrats to both boys for wins over Memorial day Weekend that is AMAZING!! Wishing best of luck during the national tournament!!!!!

I just had the opportunity to spend some time at BC and SAB and I have tell you I fell in love I want to turn around and go right back and just live there...unfortunately that is not reality LOL!!! Oh well I will make it back to stay there someday!!!

I am late in congratulating the boys on their big wins!!

Oh, those lobby flowers are so pretty! I'm actually looking forward to all those neat little details! Beautiful!!

I would love the chance to explore in the evenings. You took great night time pictures.

Thanks for the congrats!

The lobby flowers are really beautiful! Can you imagine having flowers in your house like that? I love fresh flowers so I must take a picture every time I see them

Glad you like the pics!

SAB better rest up because my girls plan to spend three full days in the water there! Love the nightime pictures of that pretty area!

Congrats on the soccer champs!

Thanks for the congrats! You are going to have such a great time at SAB and BC. Your trip is so close now! You must be so excited!!!!!!

That's fabulous that BOTH of them won!! Would have been kind of hard if only one had-- but WONDERFUL that didn't happen!

Thanks! They are both pretty excited. The trip to Tennessee is huge and we're pretty excited about that!

Sounds like a lovely evening! All of you pictures are so beautiful! You're rocking the DSLR!

It was a really nice, peaceful evening. Rocking the DSLR - I love that! :cool1:

What a neat little photo jaunt around the Yacht and Beach Club! Why am I not surprised that Denny and Chuck were falling asleep in the lobby and not answering their phones?

Some things are so predictable, aren't they? :rolleyes1

What do you mean "Revenge of the Evil D"??? This cannot be good! :scared:

It wasn't good - BUT it could have been worse!

Sounds like a great evening! Your pictures are lovely! I love that area and Beach Club is tops on my "someday" list! :)

I hear ya sista - BCV and BWV are on the top of my "someday" list and I hope my someday list comes really soon!

You are not the only one......I love that hallway at BC near Cape May Cafe too!

The hallway is so cute. The whole Cape May Cafe area is so cute!

Thanks for the wonderful Y&BC pics. Looks like SAB was closed. They do close at 8:00 PM some evenings.

I think they closed at 10pm that night, which still seems early to me. Come to think of it, it was probably close to 10pm since we stayed in Epcot to finish dessert. Well - I still like my idea of curling up on a chaise lounge with a pillow and a blanket!

I bet! We won ours in PK's...not what you want but oh is it nice to have a killer goalie again! Very cool that you got to go to the Region 1, it seems wierd to me that State Cups aren't yet over but it looks like the Region 1 tourney is a few weeks before the rest, our region IV isn't for another couple of weeks. We got in on a wild card 2 years ago as we came in 2nd on the state cup. It was a good experience for the girls but they got killed by the CA teams at regionals which is how it usually goes. A VERY cool soccer note though that I don't think I told you. One of my Hawaii cousin's has a daughter who is U14 on a HI team. They were also at Regionals 2 years ago but since I wasn't there, the girls didn't meet.

I am soooooooo glad it did not come down to PK's. I can't watch that. It turns my stomach into knots.

I am not sure why the Region 1 tourney is so early. I tried to figure out which states are in all the different regions, but didn't quite do it yet. I am surprised there are only 4 regions. I can't wait to see who we play. They are going to be up against some great teams, but there team is solid so I think they will hold their own. They have a strong defense, although the goalie is a little weak. I will be watching things unfold over the next couple weeks. I think they are renting a bus for the team. I would like to drive so we can come and go as we please. It would be nice for the whole family to see a new part of the country. On mapquest it is 777 miles.

I
Just so happens her team is playing a tournament here the weekend of my sisters wedding so the whole gang is coming and hitting the wedding. We (my cousin, my favorite cousin by the way who looks like my twin) and I arranged a scrimmage between the 2 teams (K's and her Hawaii cousin she's never met) the night before the wedding. And then K's team is also playing in the same tournament that weekend. The girls won't play each other as they are different age brackets but hopefully I'll get a lot of soccer and cousin time! I am so excited for it!

That is pretty cool. Nice job arranging the scrimmage! Sounds like great weekend - lots of soccer and a wedding. Fun!

I can only wish for an empty pool in august but I know that won't happen. I'm a bit freaked out by the recent crowd levels I am seeing for our dates which "should" be mostly after the peak season. Darn free dining. :rotfl:

I can't wait to see the YC!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to stay there.

What a fun stroll

I think you made a great choice with the Yacht club. I would love to stay there. It's so pretty! I know you are going to love it!

I adore your light fixture pictures. :cloud9:

I'm so glad you like the light fixtures! They are pretty cool.

It's hard to look at SAB and not want to stay there!!!!!!

The "Evil D"??? Oh no...

I know if I stay at the BC once I will never want to stay anywhere else - that's why I keep putting it off!

Evil D about to make an appearance!

:yay: for the soccer tournaments!!! Great job! That is awesome....especially in the heat this weekend! :crazy2:

Thanks! I have to tell you - I have been in some major heat over Memorial day - in Virginia Beach,in PA, and in NJ....but the weather in NY was perfect. It was partly cloudy on Sat and Sunday, so that made a huge difference. Nice low humidity.

:
Glad you liked the Albany area.....the place that services my car is in Latham at the Mini dealership....they will come and pick it up on a flatbed and bring it back to me!! :sad2:

I really liked it there. Great area! The people at the hotel were incredibly nice. They were Disney nice! And I loved Saratoga Springs and all the out door restaurants.

Great service for your car - that is awesome! :thumbsup2

I really want to stay at one of the Epcot resorts. I am hitting all the other resorts, but I still haven't made it to BC, YC, or BW. I would love to stay there next spring.

Ahhhh....October.....so many folks are going in October. I really wish that was when I was going. Not that I'm upset about September, I just would like to try October!

First of all HUGE congrats to both boys for wins over Memorial day Weekend that is AMAZING!! Wishing best of luck during the national tournament!!!!!

Thanks! I am getting more and more excited about going to the national tournament. Especially since we come from such a small state. I can't wait to see who we play!

I just had the opportunity to spend some time at BC and SAB and I have tell you I fell in love I want to turn around and go right back and just live there...unfortunately that is not reality LOL!!! Oh well I will make it back to stay there someday!!!

You did!!!????? How did I miss this! I want to hear all about it. All this talk about BC and SAB is making me want to go there soooo badly!

Wow I love the BC/YC pics! SAB is pretty quiet at night, it's weird, I thought the same thing when I was staying there, but don't they have actual pool hours? I know the pool at WL is 24 hours, but I think at SAB you can't be in the pool past a certain time...:confused3

I had an ADR for Yachtsman last November and changed it to Captain's Grille at the last second. I felt like I would have to get all dressed up to go in Yachtsman and I didn't feel like doing that when I knew I'd be walking around in a park all day! I would like to try it someday though! :)

Great pictures of the Yacht and Beach club...and I'm with you....it's on my list to stay there! My Jasmine has been asking since she was 6 when we could stay there, she's 17 now :lmao:maybe now I'll tell her since she's working we could go half on the vacation!!!

It does close at 10pm ( at least that night it did), but it wasn't gated off or anything. I am sure someone could go in the water without being stopped. It was just so weird seeing it empty. I would be swimming right up to the time the closed it.

I can understand that. It would be hard to walk around the parks overdressed. Like I said - its on my list!

I definitely think its time for your Jasmine to get her wish. Even better now that she can pay for part of it! Seems like there are a bunch of us who really want to stay at the Beach Club! We all need to start saving our pennies!

Love your pics of the YC & BC. We have no desire to stay at the YC (too nautical for us), but we hope one of these days to try the BC (and the AKL) doing a split stay with the CSR.

I did a split CSR/Kidani stay. All I can say is do CSR first. It was really hard going from the 2BR villa to two adjoining rooms. But CSR has it all over Kidani in terms of outside ambiance. That walk around the lake is sooooooo beautiful!

So I apologize for being a bit of a slacker with my TR. I really hoped to do an update last night, but it just wasn't happening. I decided to try for a short one this morning when I realized that Nicholas has his guitar recital tonight. We also have state cup games this weekend and we are having an OBX meeting at my house on Sunday night, so I have to get ready for that.

Ellen - If you are reading - please tell me the name of the wonderful restaurant in Corolla you recommend.....didn't you say they have great crab cakes. We want to cook in 3 nights (each family doing a meal), probably have a lazy hamburger /hotdog night, have one adults only meal, and one group meal. I would like to go there for the group meal!

OK - so on with the TR. Just for frame of reference I have made it to the morning of Day 3 which was Tuesday May 4, 2010. It was our second morning in the world and I was surprised, and a little miffed, when I gazed at the clock and it was 545am! Ugghhhhhh! Are you Kidding me????? I get up at 5am during the work week, so it is hard for me to "sleep in". But this was ridiculous. I went to bed at midnight. Sheeesh! I closed my eyes and drifted off for another 1/2 hour, but finally got up to make the coffee at 6:15. By 7am I was awake enough to hit the trails. If you recall, I got myself turned around on Monday morning and I never found Fort Wilderness. Today I knew the right way to go.

So - this morning started pretty normally - coffee - bio break - got dressed, running shoes on - off I went. But.....I hadn't even run a 1/2 mile when I started to getting stomach cramps. Great - how extremely inconvenient. Not too many bathrooms on the trail between WL and FW. Fortunately, I made it without incident to FW. In fact, the stomach cramps subsided.

When I got to the fort there was a cast member outside trying to drum up business for breakfast. I forget the name of the restaurant there, but it was right next to the Hoop de Doo review. Another runner passed me on the path. A really in shape, good looking man in his mid 30's. He passed me like I was standing still. Which I almost was when I got a look at his fine physique. :rolleyes1 Mmmm, mmm, mmmmm.....what a fine sight so early in the morning!

The cast member was cheering him on towards the lake. Then she started cheering me on....like we were running partners in a race.... :confused3 Breathless, I replied, "I'm not with him". As if that wasn't obvious! LOL!
I stopped at the edge of the water, but not very long. It was still pretty overcast out and the humidity just hung there - it felt oppressive. Best thing to do was to just keep running.

I saw a bathroom and decided to take a bio break. That was the uggliest bathroom in all of WDW. It really reminded me of camping - I guess that's what it was supposed to do. But I couldn't wait to get out of there. I felt OK on the run back. I just figured my GI tract was adjusting to 36 hours of major food intake!

I ran back to the lodge without incident. In case you are wondering - it is approximately 1 mile from the start of the WL nature trail to the boat launch at FW. Maybe a tad longer. Still, a very reasonable run.

BTW - I never saw the cute runner again - he was long gone!

I decided to stop at Roaring Forks and pick up some more breakfast items for my co-travelers. When I got back to the room they were all lounging around, drinking coffee, watching the news.

Ahem....people .....let's TRY to get to Epcot around 9am. Do you think we can do it?????? I reminded them that it was an EMH morning at Epcot and that we really best be going at a reasonable time. Then I set off to the shower where I promptly succumbed to stomach cramp #2.

This was a light bulb moment. I thought to myself "Is it possible???? Is this a warning that the Evil D is coming back????? NO...can't be...I am fine!"

I finished getting ready and so did everyone else. We left the villa around 9am. Not too terrible, except for ONE THNG.....Stomach cramp #3 hit me as soon as we walked outside. I told the crew that I needed to return to the villa. OMG......Why is this happening? I went back upstairs, hit the BR, and grabbed my Rx for flagyl. Before I left on this trip I saw my GI MD. I told him I was very fearful of the Evil D returning. His words were, "If you get any D at all, just fill this Rx for Flagyl". Nice....It looked like I might need to do just that.

Once I got to the car I felt immediately better. We had an uneventful drive to Epcot, but without a AAA parking pass we ended up in some nondescript area of general parking. This location will become important in a future update!

The nice thing about getting to the park soooooooo late (party my fault...I will take responsibility for that), was that the entrance lines were nonexistent. We hustled past spaceship earth and I told the folks that I would meet them at the board near the fountain that listed wait times. If we did only one thing today, it needed to be Soarin. I knew Chuck and Cathy would really love this, so I was on a mission to get FP's

ummmmm....OK......where the heck was the board????? Crap, it was gone. And I immediately knew why! Darn Verizon. I hate Verizon. They are like my ball and chain. Every communication device we have is through verizon - home phone, cell phone, fios TV, internet. We are indebted to them for life and we are in a contract that we will probably never be able to break. I hate some of their policies, especially related to cell phones. I think they are shady, non-yielding, and they specifically make things confusing. I think their products are too expensive and their advertising is extremely misleading. I think they nickel and dime people every chance they get. Can you tell, I really have this thing about Verizon?????

Well - you probably know that Verizon has an app called Mobile Magic. It ia $9.99 for 3 months (although I expect that there must be hidden charges which will later show up on your cell phone bill....ughhh verizon!). I almost purchased it, but because I KNEW it couldn't possible be as simple as a $9.99 charge, I decided not too. Plus I can't see my phone in the direct sunlight, especially with polarized sun glasses on. If I have to duck into a dark building everytime I need to use the app, what good is it? I figure I know the parks well enough and I don't want to give Verizon one more dime then I have to.

Well, thanks to this lovely app, I am almost certain that is the reason those boards are gone. I think the iphone has a similar app, so maybe I should hold ATT in disdain, too. Or maybe I should blame it on Disney and complain that they have taken away a major convenience item.

OK - enough of my rant! At least my stomach didn't hurt as I winded my way through strollers, gawkers, old people, young people, big people, skinny people. Phew....I finally made it to the FP machines and was awarded with a 1130am return time! :woohoo: Not too bad, if I do say so myself.

So - I am going to take a break here. Up next....Sum of All Thrills, Spaceship earth, Soarin, Le Cellier, and more. And do I finally fill that Rx for Flagyl? You will have to wait to find out! I do have pictures for my next update!

Oh, nothing like nice scenery on your morning run, Mary Ellen, and I am referring to the fine-looking runner, not the trees! :lmao:

Ugh, I can't believe you had to deal with the Evil D again!!! I hope it went away soon!

I am not happy to hear all the wait time boards are gone! :( Those were so convenient, and really, who wants to pull out their phone when they can look at a great, big billboard. :sad2: I wonder if the wait time boards have disappeared from all the parks? :confused3

I really admire your dedication to run while on vacation, especially when you have to go alone. :worship: I hope the "Evil D" doesn't make another appearance; I'd hate to think you don't get to enjoy your meal at LeCellier!

I am really surprised to hear the wait time boards are gone. :scared1: Those were super convenient. And what is someone like me with neither Verizon nor an iphone to do?

I just had a funny thought... they should start posting wait times for a slushie. :lmao:

Anywho, sorry to hear you weren't feeling your best. Hope it was a false alarm and you were able to go Soarin' and enjoy your day in Epcot!

Hmmmmm, not sure where the wait time board was that morning. We saw them throughout our trip :confused3

I'm so sorry you weren't feeling great. I hope it wasn't terrible and you were still able to enjoy the rest of your trip!

Booo to the Evil D! I had stomach problems on my trip as well. I'm thinking it was the stress of travel mixed with a ton of food! Hopefully you were able to still have a great day!

I loved those time boards! I too, hate Verizon. Where I live it is pretty much the only option for cell service however. Still annoying!

:lmao: You made me laugh about the cute runner!!!

I'm so, so sorry that the evil D returned!!!! I hope you got to enjoy your day at Epcot!

I did a split CSR/Kidani stay. All I can say is do CSR first. It was really hard going from the 2BR villa to two adjoining rooms. But CSR has it all over Kidani in terms of outside ambiance. That walk around the lake is sooooooo beautiful!

Our plan is to do AKL Savannah view for three nights (we don't need a villa for the two of us) and just hang out at the resort for those three days; then we would head to CSR for seven nights and do the parks, hang at the resort, etc.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well on your morning run to Ft. Wilderness. I hope the stomach pains stayed away for the rest of the day.
