I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

My oldest DS and DH did SOAT in December and LOVED it! I was intimidated by the looks of it, so I did the Waste Management thing with younger DS instead

Your pics from SE are fabulous! Even if you did have to break a teeny tiny rule to get them :rolleyes1

Yep - that was my report with the oblivious lady standing in front of the Lion King topiaries.......

I love the pictures from Spaceship Earth even if you broke the rules to get them

I am kind of nervous about you eating at LeCellier with your stomach bothering you and the heat.

Oh yeah - I totally broke the rules, but I think it was worth it! ;)

Le Cellier was not the best choice for today, but I managed! :rolleyes1 Barely!

What great updates!!!!!! Yes as a few have mentioned the wait time boards are back up and running now, have no idea why they were down when you were there!!!!!

Those pictures on SSE are the most amazing I have ever seen...WOW!! Those are just stunning!!!!!!!! I love that ride!!!!

Sorry you were having stomach cramps that is no fun at all...hope that is the last we hear of that!!!

Can't wait for more!

I am so glad the wait board is up at Epcot and that its not a communication empire conspiracy!

I do really like the way those SE pics turned out.

Stomach cramps...you say? Not the end, I'm afraid!

Yeah, I might be skipping The Sum of All Thrills, but it sounds like something the rest of my family would love doing! Plus, it is air-conditioned in Innoventions, so that is a huge plus!!!

Your SSE pictures are awesome!!! You really captured all the great details!

Love the two pictures of you hamming it up for the camera!!! Too cute!!!

I think if you left out all the flips you would be fine on SOAT. Its otherwise calm and the worst part is the hood or visor they put over your head. I think you should consider it. It looks way worse from a spectator's point of view.

Glad you like the SSE pics and my "ham" pictures cause you know I never do that - I'm always so serious!

Sorry the evil D was returning! Not a fun way to vacation

I think it was Soonergirl who had the oblivious woman in front of the topiaries

Not the best thing that happened on vacation - that's for sure! :sad2:

I think it was Soonergirl. uggghhh....so frustrating! Of course, I know I have been guilty of being the oblivious women myself! :rolleyes

I normally don't condone rule-breaking....:rolleyes1...but your SE pictures are worth it!!! Man, they are awesome!

Sum of All Thrills sounds so fun. We did the Cyber Space Mountain, so if this is even better, I'm all for it!

Thanks! I think my "rule breaking" resulted in some great shots!

It is definitely better than Cyber Space mtn. Its much smoother and it has more choices for thrill rides.

Stupid Evil D. :headache:

I'll be passing on Sum of all Thrills, thank you very much. :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:worship: love your SE pictures! You are an addict :rotfl2: Were you making Denny nervous?

He was actually pretty chill about it, so that's why I am wondering if the flash actually went off with each picture.

:: I remember you saying that about Delaware in your last TR :rotfl: Well it is kind of out there on the coast.....;)
:rotfl2: I did, didn't I? But I had NO idea what I was doing wrong last trip. At least now I know it was the pinky action messing me up. Talk about manual dexterity. (or lack there of)

:
I remember you saying how cool SOAT was at Innoventions....I never did make it over there :confused3 Next time

Definitely try it next time. It's worth it!

: Look at those poses (with Chuck in the background plotting his next move ) Great pictures ME!! :goodvibes
So glad the boards are back up....thanks Jen for posting that...I was kidding about doing the refurb but maybe they really were!

Yeah - chuck had no idea where we were going, but he acted like he did!

I am breathing a sigh of relief right now that those boards are back up! Phew!

Great update and awesome pictures. I think Katie is right; I think it was SoonerGirl's trip report that had the mom with the ice cream kid.

Mark and I have not done Innoventions since the last time the kids came with us in 2000; for some reason we just pass it up each trip. :

Thanks! I am so glad I didn't have soonergirl's experience. I would have probably gotten a bit impatient!

Definitely visit Innoventions. There are some cool things in there, plus like CP says, it Air conditioned!

Forgot to tell you...I was getting my hair cut etc last night and my stylist asks me sooo how does this DVC thing work? And I am confused because she has never once mentioned even going to Disney....she has a 4 year old son. Her husband is from South Africa and his parents are quite wealthy. They bought them in my approximation 220 points at FWV! :faint: She actually doesn't know how many she has...told me that she has enough for a 2br for one week. She is going in September and staying at OKW for a week. Can you imagine?!! I don't know anything about how they purchased....almost has to be resale or why else would they have chosen FWV for them. :confused:She is excited though....her son is autistic and has some food allergies so I told her to note the allergies.

Tracy

OMG - that is unbelievable! That's probably how so many properties end up on the resale market. People buy or gift them and don't even know what they are getting.

Well, Tracy, you are just going to have to educate your stylist every time you go see her between now and September. All I can say is I wish someone would give me 220 DVC points - any resort - I'll take them!

Love the SE pictures-- the flash was worth it! I love that ride so much!
I also remember reading the ice-cream spill entry in someone's TR but can't remember who it was.

Thanks - I am glad you approve of my rule breaking pictures. They really did exceed my expectation and I have no will power once it comes to pictures!

Yup ::yes:: Not sure if it was on everytime we were at Epcot, but I know at least twice it was because I stopped to look at it. The one by TT & MS was operating as well.

That stinks it was off when you were there!

Are you kidding me????? You mean the board was only off when I was there???? And I thought for sure it was a conspiracy. I am so relieved!

My oldest DS and DH did SOAT in December and LOVED it! I was intimidated by the looks of it, so I did the Waste Management thing with younger DS instead

That's my point - it looks far more intimidating than it actually is. Definitely try it next time.

.
:lmao: teeny, tiny rule breaker I am! :lmao:

Yep - that was my report with the oblivious lady standing in front of the Lion King topiaries.......

Oh brother - that was pretty funny. I can just picture this line of 10 people wanting to take a picture and then...... oblivious, stroller woman!

I know can you believe it about the DVC gift  She has no idea how lucky she is:sad2:
Don't worry those boards must have been conspiring against me too because I know they were down whenever I was there too! Chuck probably had better direction than Denny :rotfl2: at least he was holding a park guide :rotfl:

Tracy

Wow, Mary Ellen, when you said you were going to do SOAT I immediately thought of the stomach cramps you had earlier! Hope the ride didn't shake things up too much!!

I would love to try that with Ed, but can it give you motion sickness?

Kathy

Your SE pics are cool! I would have been nervous that security would be waiting to take me away at the end of the ride. :rotfl:

I love the SE pics, even if they are illegal! :rotfl:

I always forget about SOAT, we never go in Innoventions. :confused3 It sounds like it would be fun, though! :cool1:

I have been silently following along and am really enjoying your trip report.

I am feeling your pain on the stomache issues. I have a chronic digestive condition that I just got under control in the last year. I have to be careful at Disney not to get too far off my set diet (no milk, eat my fiber, etc). :)

Fabulous update!

I think you might right about innoventions, it's kind of an after thought! I think to a lot of people it's a way to get out of the heat for a little while! Well, in our case in Jan, get out of the cold!!!

Wonderful pics of SSE! WOW!

I'm glad your stomach seems to be doing ok!!!

When I saw SOAT all I thought was "motion sickness!". I discovered my motion sickness problem abotu 2 years ago in one of those big box roller coaster simulators. It was awful, i almost pushed the panic button, and was sick the whole day. I think DH would looooove SOAT thrills since he hates real rollar coaster, but loves the simulators. Go figure lol!

Hey, ME- Just a quick post to say the name of the OBX restaurant that has excellent crabcakes and shecrab soup is the Oceanfront Grille- http://www.oceanfrontgrille.com/
It is in the Corolla Light resort, which will be a little south of where you are staying I think. It is very small, my friends have told me it's hard to get in in the summer, so you should make a ressie as soon as you can. If you can't get in, you can still do take-out there, and I would definitely recommend doing that! BEST CRABCAKES EVAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!:thumbsup2

I have to tell you that the most memorable part of the ride was when I walked out and saw the area with the ride photos. I forgot it was there and as soon as I saw it, I had to do a double take. My mind teleported right to Dizney Dawn's picture of Baylor and Treynor. You may or not know the one I am talking about .....let me refresh your memory .....the picture of TOPLESS Baylor and Treynor! I started to laugh out loud. Fortunately, no one exiting the attraction knew what the heck I was chuckling about. That picture remains a classic and will go down in Dis history.

So I am behind and I know I suck but I am trying my best to get caught up on yours and a few others.

I made it this far and you stinker! Ya made me cry! I can't wait to tell the boys they were thought of and honestly, that is one reason why I adore reading and writing TR's.

The opportunity to relive and live memories through your own words and others is just a blessing. Gives you a whole new perspective each time you go.

BTW - here I thought you were gonna say you had donned a sports bra for the occasion and were evicted from the ride by waving it over your head like a woman's soccer team pro! :lmao:

Here is the pic in which you reference of the boys!

K- update - now I have read it all! Love your pics and laughed at your Verizon issues. I also have a blue raspberry drink that will kick your UV Blue in the hind end.

When I was in Ireland a few years ago fell in love with Vodka "pops" they had called WKD. Tatse exactly like a blue raspberry freezie! WEell they had them in the USA for a bit but under a different name and with Malt not Vodka. Less % of alcohol also.

So I found a guy who owns some really nice establishments that sell higer end spirits and asked why the heck can't we get it here anymore for?

He explained that here there was a patent issue - another company had a name too similar and thus - nobody has re-bought the recipe and it can't be gotten. I asked him to help me recreate this drink because it is the best ever and he was beyond knowledgeable.

I will have Dan explain the details in a minute because I don't make them and I don't drink them because my tummy hasn't been up to any alcohol with my kidney issues as of late - but he made it and I literally dunked my finger in to tase and OMG - UV blue tastes like dog poo next to it!

Here is the recipe (don't change brands...TRUST ME)

1. 2 oz. Purus Vodka
2. 2 oz. Rose's Blue Rasberry Infusion
3. 5 oz. Sprite
4. 10-20 ice cubes for blender method or pour over ice for reg drink.

Blend well in a blender

If Blending: To taste add more Blue Rasberry infusion to the glass as you serve approx 1-2 oz.:thumbsup2:cloud9::wizard::teacher::idea:

Can I just say that there are so many wonderful comments to my TR that I can't possible do an update now. I have to respond to all your great messages. I was really busy today. I sang at 930 mass then I kicked butt and cleaned my back porch and got ready for a dinner party tonight. We had on OBX meeting. I was the coordinator plus I hosted dinner. I am a terrible cook and I am so envious of all my friends who can cook. We had salmon with mango sauce, brown rice with broccoli and cheddar cheese, a yummy salad, and strawberry short cake for dessert. We got a lot accomplished, so it was worth the effort! Plus I got my whole back porch cleaned and ready for summer. It looks so nice right now. I hope summer never ends!

Tracy

A DVC gift is amazing. I can't think of anything better!
:rotfl2: regarding chuck and the park map. When we finally got to the world showcase I made sure I got in front of Denny so he wouldn't walk part Canada!

Wow, Mary Ellen, when you said you were going to do SOAT I immediately thought of the stomach cramps you had earlier! Hope the ride didn't shake things up too much!!

I would love to try that with Ed, but can it give you motion sickness?

Kathy

I was feeling pretty good when we did SOAT and I didn't have any stomach cramps. I don't usually get motion sickness. I can't do the orange side of Mission space cause that make me dizzy and EE makes me a little dizzy in the dark, but SOAT was completely painless. Its 90 seconds and you can tailor an easy ride, so why not try it?

Your SE pics are cool! I would have been nervous that security would be waiting to take me away at the end of the ride. :rotfl:

C- Did you go to Catholic school? Cause you definitely have the Catholic guilt complex :rotfl2: I know, because I suffer from it! I did feel guilty about the pics, but I got over it in about 30 seconds.

I love the SE pics, even if they are illegal! :rotfl:

I always forget about SOAT, we never go in Innoventions. :confused3 It sounds like it would be fun, though! :cool1:

Yes - just call those pictures the Bootleg SE pics!

SOAT is cool - definitely give it a try!

I have been silently following along and am really enjoying your trip report.

:welcome: dallastxcpa! Thanks for feeling my pain. I have had IBS for the past few years. The whole infectious diarrhea through me for a loop, but now I am taking a probiotic called Align. It is a bit expensive ....about $1 a day, so thats $365/yr, but it has been a lifesaver. My GU tract feels better than ever. I really recommend it. Its the same stuff that's in Activa, but stronger and it works! :thumbsup2

:rotfl: I know it was freezing when you were there in January because one of the MD's I work with still hasn't stopped complaining about it!

Stomach in check - but not for long!!!!!

Uggghhhh ....that must have been so terrible to get sick in a coaster simulator. If your DH hates real roller coasters, there are still other options for SOAT, so I know he could find something he likes!!!!!!

Your SE pictures are amazing....felt like I was right there on the ride.

popcorn::

Thank. I was so pleased with how my illegal, bootleg pictures turned out! I'm so glad no one has flamed me!

Thanks Ellen....we will definitely be dining there. We are cooking most of our meals, but decided to have one adults only meal and one group meal. I will try to make a reservation now for our group meal!!!! If I can't get the whole group in, then I will switch it to the adults! I can't wait for those crab cakes and I know if you recommend them then they have to be the bomb!

So I am behind and I know I suck but I am trying my best to get caught up on yours and a few others.

Dawn -

You completely made my day by posting this pictures, because as far as I am concerned THIS is a Disney classic!!!!! It is so laugh-out-loud funny and it will stay in my memory banks forever! I am so honored to have it part of my TR! :worship: to Dawn, Treyner, and Baylor......my heroes! :rotfl: If was 20 years younger and 20 lbs lighter I might consider the sports bra, or lack there of!!!!! But then I would have to run from the Disney police for real!

If Dan knows how to make the drink you are speaking of - PLEASE let me know what's in it! That vodka sounds amazing and I would love to try it. We were making our liquor list for the Obx tonight, but if there is something better then I am sooooooo there!!!!!!

I love the ham pictures! It's nice to see you smiling and having fun with it!

Sooo happy at least the evil D let you get in a morning's fun, it sounds like a great morning, I must try SOAT, this is the 2nd TR I've read recently that has me dying to go there!

Now now, I am sure the poor woman cleaning her kid didn't even realize she was blocking picture moments. I'm very afraid that's something I would do!

That dinner menu does not sound like someone who cannot cook.:confused3 it sounds yummy!

What is OBX?

:worship::worship::worship: Thanks Dawn....this sounds amazing!

This will definitely be on my OBX planning list. I am going to suprise everyone. I have never heard of Purus Vodka, so I will start looking for it!!!!! I definitely want to do the blender version!

I love the ham pictures! It's nice to see you smiling and having fun with it!

I am definitely working on my "inner ham". I used to be so somber until I met all you great Disers!

SOAT is definitely worth a try! I look forward to trying it again because it has limitless versions and will never be the same ride twice.

You are right - I was a little harsh on the stroller lady, especially since I am completely capable of doing the same thing. In fact, I did do the samething once while I was trying to get firework pics and I broke up an entire family!

That dinner menu does not sound like someone who cannot cook.:confused3 it sounds yummy!

Well - I had help. My one GF brought an amazing salad which ended up blending perfectly with the rice and salmon. And my other GF picked fresh strawberried for the strawberry shortcake. OMG - those strawberries were amazing!

What is OBX?

It is the east coast abbreviation for the Outer Bank in North Carolina. We are renting a house in Corolla which is the northern most tip of the Outer Bank. Its a combo of 6 adults and 7 teens - 5 boys and 2 girls! We had a planning meeting to discuss what food we are bringing, where we will be eating, and what activities we want to do (beside drink, float in the pool, lounge in the hot tub, and veg on the beach). Should be a fun trip. I think everyone will get along well and the house is huge with 6 bedrooms! I am really looking forward to a nice relaxing vacation!

:worship::worship::worship: Thanks Dawn....this sounds amazing!
Glad Dan was able to get it out to you so quick!
This will definitely be on my OBX planning list. I am going to suprise everyone. I have never heard of Purus Vodka, so I will start looking for it!!!!! I definitely want to do the blender version!

The spirits guy was a wealth of knowledge and here is the info on Purus.

It was originally owned by Annheuser (SP?) Bush in one of their ventures to expand the business in the past few years. They went to Italy and found the right people to make a wheat vodka and produce it for the company.

No aftertaste, smooth vodka, everything fabulous but only on the east coast did it sell well. The price point was $35 per bottle and unless it had "Russia" next to the word vodka, most people were not going to buy it for that amount of money. In fact, besides a $76 bottle of a Russian Vodka, it is the only vodka he says he would consider drinking straight.

I am telling you, we sat there listening to him for 20 minutes because he has such a passion for making sure what you order as a customer, fits your needs and doesn't rip you off. Besides, he knew a ton of info and it is interesting learning the inns and outs of the biz IMO.

Purus was given some prestigious award (Now I can't remember exactly but something like the top 20 spirits of the year) and yet Bush sold the label as it was not the big ticket item they had hoped for due to the price point.

So another company bought the brand and now is selling it for less. We bought it for $15. Bar none he said it was the best deal around for a quality vodka that does not taste like paint thinner.

The owner also explained he was not a fan of Absolute Vodka because he has noticed being in the industry as long as he has, how much the cost has gone up and he feels it is due to other ventures Absolute is in (like coffee table books) that they need to fund.

He also explained that since blue raspberry is an artificial flavor anyway, it makes more sense to buy the best tasting form of it, and then add it to a better tasting vodka vs settling for a bad version of the combo like UV since you can then, make it as sweet as you desire. The Rose's blue raspberry mix we bought was like $7.

Like I said - I can't drink it but I did taste it and was sooooooo close to the original. Nothing like the crappy UV stuff that is so harsh in IMO. You will never go back.

So there is your history lesson for the day.

I like it better on ice as I think it tasted more like my original Vodka Pop version with the fizz. Dan liked the slushie version.

BTW - just re-read and found out what OBX stands for. When are you going? We will be in Hilton Head area the end of July.

That is such cool information. You make me want to buy that vodka even more now. I really like Belvedere and Grey Goose, but I can't wait to try this. I feel like hitting the liquor store tonight....on a work night, no less! :rolleyes1

Thanks for taking the time to share such fun information with me. Not only can you write an amazing TR, cook like a chef, and take great pics - you know oodles about booze. Gotta love it! :thumbsup2
