I keep going through it and there really wasn't anything I could do differently. I didn't have time to swerve, slow down or anything. I did blast my horn and slam on the brakes, but it was already too late by then.
One second there was nothing there and the next, I had hit it.
Even if it had stayed alive a little longer, what could I have done all by myself with an injured pitbull? I would have tried, but it would not have been smart.

The only good I can see is that it didn't suffer long.

Oh, Serena, I'm so very sorry. It was just a truly unfortunate accident--nothing can be done if something (or Heaven forbid) someone just comes at you that fast.
