Okay, so I'm very newly pregnant and have 2 trips to WDW scheduled. One is next month for 3 days with a girlfriend and the next is in December for 7 days with DH. This is our first child. So... any tips, advice, suggestions? What do you guys think about going in my 7th month? It'll just be DH and I and we'll be staying at Poly Concierge taking it easy. Do you think I should move it up? Or do you think I should shorten the length of the trip? Think I should cancel and save the money for the next time so I can ride RNR!?! Thanks for any help you can offer!

No advice or ideas, this is my first trip, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS!!!!!!

Best Wishes!

Denise

Congratulations :D

just my opinion but so long as you are havng a problem free pregnancy then i would leave the trip as planed.
check with your dr. for any concerns
It will be a great memory for you and your DH
a last trip adults only.
just pace your self make a priority to do list cause at 7 months i'm guessing your not going to feel like doing it all

have a great time and a safe pregnancy

again CONGRATS !!!!

I went at 7 1/2 months PG with my 3rd child. Although I had a great time, I felt so sidelined becaue I couldn't do the rides I enjoy most, and I couldn't "share" those rides with my older kids on their first times to ride the bigger rides!! BUT, you won't have that problem (at least on this trip!)

I would not cancel. I would definitely go and I'd plan as many adult/older things to do since it may be awhile before you and your hubby get the chance to enjoy WDW in this way again. Once you have your kids, your Disney experiece changes!

Have fun and don't forget to drink your water and get plenty of rest!

Congratulations!

You're going to hear a variety of opinions about the 7 month trip. Personally, I would reschedule it. I was always MISERABLE by that point in the pg, with aching back, swollen feet, etc. And with my first and third pgs, I was on at least partial bedrest by that point. And even if you're having no problems at all, your activities will be somewhat limited.

I took a 5mo to WDW, and she was a piece of cake. Babies are very portable at that age. You and DH could trade off to ride the big rides that you wouldn't be able to ride at all if you were pg. (Or get Grandma to come too, and then you and DH could even ride together!)

congrats- very exciting! :Pinkbounc

I would just say play it by ear and see how you feel. I went when I was 7 months pregnant with my 2nd and we had our 18 mth old daughter. we had a blast. It was in sept a few days after 9/11 and there was noone there. the weather was perfect. I didnt get too tired and we still did alot of things. Im not a big rollercoaster rider anyhow so it wasnt a big deal to me to miss things. Just be careful traveling-if you are driving a long ways or in a plane for awhile- get up to walk around. This prevents blood clots in the legs. have a a wonderful pregnancy!

Congratulations!!!! That is exciting news!

All I can tell you is my experience. First pregnancy we were supposed to go to WDW during the first trimester. We canceled about a week before we would have left. I was so darn morning sick (all day sick really) and exhausted that it would have been a complete waste. Morning sickness started to kick in about 2 weeks after my first missed period and didn't let up until after the second trimester, at approx. 13 weeks pg. After the morning sickness subsided, the rest of my pregnancy was a cake walk! No problems, no major discomfots until just 1 week before delivery. During that pregnancy, I went on vacation at 7 months and had no problems.

This pregnancy is entirely different. The morning sickness wasn't nearly as bad and we went to the Polynesian Concierge at the end of the first trimester and had a blast. I just took it easy as I was still a little more tired than usual but not too bad. But the flip side is that I am having such horrible sciatica and hip pain, etc this time that had I planned a trip to WDW at 7 months (I am 8.5 months pg now) I would have canceled. Had I been feeling better, we probably would have taken another trip as we have an annual pass.

So, my opinion is that there really is no way for you to know whether you will feel up to going. If you can hold off on making your decision until closer to your trip dates, you might want to consider that.

Good luck and again, congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Pregnancy news is SOOO exciting!!:sunny:

I don't have any advice, I'll just wish for you that you don't get bad morning sickness! LOL! I get it bad and there's no way I could go to WDW when I'm preggo. :(

Good luck to you!!!::yes:: :wave2:

Your trip in dec. should be ok, b/c the weather is a little cooler. I went at 6 mos. for my third child and it was June. I was so hot and tired, and my feet were swollen and hot, yuck! My parents did all the rides with kids and I just had to sit there. I was really uncompfortable.:sunny:

I would definately play it by ear. I personally had the 3 pregnancies from he**. The first two pgs end in pre-eclampsia my second ds being born 5 wks early (7 lbs 3 oz!) My 3rd ds was 3 1/2 wks early (7 lbs 13 oz). I had morning sickness (all day and night) for the entire pregnancies and wound up requiring IV's for rehydration at several points during each pregnancy. Travelling was not an option for me. Don't get me wrong have a baby is well worth it and we have had many wonderful trips to wdw with the kids, but see how your pregnancy goes before you make a lot of plans. I was never a person to get motion sick, but since having my second ds I have had a lot of problems with motion sickness. I wonder if any other moms experienced this?

Congratulations!! I hope you have a problem free pregnancy and are able to enjoy 2 wdw trips.

How exciting!
I've never been to Disney while pregnant, so cannot help you with that one. Everyone is different and each pregnancy is different (believe me!) but I found 5 - 7 months was a great time for me: Not early months when I felt sick a LOT or the 8th and 9th month when I felt like a large slow whale. At 7 months with our third child we went on holiday and had so much fun.
So my suggestion would be to not cancel anything right now, and to listen to your body and your doctor.
Good luck!

Congratulations!

Like many before me have said, every pregnancy is different, so only you will know how you will feel. From my own experience, I would be more concerned about next month's trip.

I've been to WDW once while pregnant. I was 4 months along with my first. I had 'round the clock morning sickness, which had not subsided by the time I went to WDW. I spent a lot of time resting in the shade & drinking lemonade to ease the queasiness. The heat took a lot out of me, but I see you are a Floridian, so it may not be such a big deal for you next month.

By the time I was 7 months along, I felt great. It was summer (hot & humid) and I was doing the amusement parks, hiking, etc., without too much trouble (just drinking lots of water, and resting every once & awhile). Standing in one place is what will probably get to you the most, so I would try to use fastpasses whenever possible. Also, you may start to take more frequent bathroom breaks! ;)

Enjoy it!

Cangratulations!!
my 2 cents...... I would reschedule both trips since while being home you try to take it as easy as you can, I would not go since just walking around all day could be very tiring. Alsoi you cannot do a lot of rides while PG even if your not showing yet. I M/C a preganacy and the Dr said I was doing too much. Although I went on and got PG again, I would not wish that experience on anyone. I think , with especially this being your first PG and you don't know how you body will react, I would postpone both trips. I was so tired for all of my PG's that it was hard to walk around so much. I went to Marineland for 9 1/2 hrs during my last PG and hated not being able to go on the rides.
So if you can stand going and just watching them maybe you can do it but be prepared you may want to sleep a lot and those vacation days from work may be needed to do just that.

:) Congratulations!!

We took our DS for his first trip in May when I was 5 months with my dd. It was HOT!

I didn't mind sitting out on the wilder rides since my ds couldn't do them anyway. My dh did some of them without us and we went to see the characters etc.

It was tiring, as wdw always is, and my ankles did swell, but if you take it easy you should be ok. December should be good weather wise in terms of heat for you. Just be sure your pregnancy is going smoothly, and try to see Dr. right before you leave so you wont worry too much.

On the other hand, you could try to move it up to October when you will be feeling pretty good (my middle Trimester was the best in terms of energy and not feeling gross). Maybe you could catch MNNSHP.

Congrats again! Get lots of rest!!

Congrats!!:bounce:

As everyone has said each pregancey is different. I had horrible all day long sickness that started about week 5 and lasted tiil week 15 then at week 24 I started having braxton hichs contractions and at 32 weeks was put on bedrest for preterm dilation and labor.

My advice would be to wait till close to the last possible second to cancel and see how your pregancey is going.::MinnieMo princess:

This is exactly what happened with my sister. We are planning a family vacation next month (which we planned a year and a half) and in January she found out she was pregnant with her 3rd child. She will be 7 months pregnant when we go. She decided she would play it by ear and not cancel unless her doctor advised her not to. I feel bad for her because this is her first trip with her other children and she won't be able to ride much of anything. Sure seems like an expensive trip when you can't ride the rides.

Good Luck!

just back from wdw and i'm 6 months along and have a 2yr old.

i had been to wdw pregnant before but that was in my first tri with my first baby. this time i actually felt better! the heat was unbearable but i drank water literally constantly and we only spent 1/2 days in the parks, then back to the hotel for pool/nap until dinner. we would go to a park after dinner if i felt up to it. we are dvc owners so we'll be back :teeth:

since you've been so many times before you won't feel you're 'missing out' on anything and can take it easy.

if you are having a complication free pregnancy you'll be fine. plus, i am a firm believer in getting that last 'kid free' trip in :hyper:

edited to say: there are plenty of rides you can go on while pregnant! just not the thrill rides.

I have been to WDW twice pregnant, in 2 different pregnacys (and one trip to VB just last month.)

1st time Feb 2001, I was 32 weeks (the same as I am right now on my second pregancy!) I felt really good and all went well. However I don't think I would want to be there right now weather wise. Otherwise I think I could handle it.

Second trip I found out the month before we left. I was 8 weeks for the trip. All day sickenss started a few weeks before we left and I had alfuwl sickness my 1st pregancy, so I talked to my Dr. about it. He took pitty on me and gave me prescrition Zofran. I was unsure at 1st, but it really helped me to feel better. However when at WDW with all the magic, exersize, good food and fresh air (it was early Jan 2004) I felt great. (when I got home it was another story, sick until well after 17 weeks.) To make maters more funny my friend who went with us just found out she was pregnant the day she left to go there (she was 4 weeks for the trip.) Keep eating, small snacks, even when you don't feel well, it helps. I needed the Zofran until at least week 16 or so. (But at 32 weeks I currenlty feel good, uncomfortable, but what can you expect.)

This past May we took our summer vacation to Vero Beach, but didn't do WDW. I was mid 6th month almost 7. I felt great, the best of the whole pregancy. For me going on vacation makes me feel better, infact I told my husband I was actually enjoying being pregant (I don't make a "happy" pregant lady.) 6th month can be a great time for a trip, 7th isn't too bad either (if it is near the start of the month.) It really was a great trip (I recomend Disney's DVC Vero Beach to anyone especaily familes with young children and pregnant women!)

Leave yourself an out so you can cancel if you need to, but I would go for it (and did) Also try to get in to see your Dr. before you leave for the trip. Ask him about the med if you are feeling sick, it really does help. My doc told me I could ride any ride I felt like in the 1st trimester, I did Dino, Mission Space and the safari ride at AK, along with all the ones my 3 year old DD could go on too. No problems at all. Don't do any slides on the water park where you go in feet 1st. (with out a raft.) I didn't miss riding the thrill rides at all, at the later stages you don't want to be moving like that! Keep your exersize up for the later trip so you will be able to make it, but don't push yourself in any way.

Have a great time and congradulations!

You guys are great! I never expected so many replies! Thanks so much for your input! Of course, I'm still going next month and will avoid the thrill rides, but DH and I have decided to play it by ear for December. I was going to buy an AP next month so I'd have it for December, but I'm just gonna get a 3-day hopper instead so we don't waste the money in case we end up not going at all. Thanks again!

I've gone when pregnant, and I have high risk pregnancies. There's a small window of opportunity for me to travel, and luckily I had planned a trip at that time. Also, we had our in-laws with us so had more help with Happy (3yo).

Because of my particular medical issues, I rented a manual wheelchair every day; it was very easy to maneuver around. I would not recommend the electric ones...they seemed like an accident waiting to happen and I figured if I drove into a wall I would be doing more harm than good. If you have any questions about this now or later, feel free to pm me.

I printed out the mobility issues pdf doc from the Disney website before I went and highlighted all the restricted rides for preggers, and carried that doc with me. I didn't want to be surprised by unexpectant speed, jolts or waterfalls.

Deb Willis has "tips for expectant mothers" site (http://allearsnet.com/pl/pregnant.htm) with some good info as well.

And above all, listen to your doctor and your body and you should be fine.
